Week 5: Day 7
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Hello, Environmental Stewards! This video is all about my experience and insights for the whole duration of 3rโ€™s activity.

25/03/2022

Week 5: Day 6
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

One of the most important advantages of recycling is that it helps to limit the quantity of waste that ends up in landfill waste disposal facilities. As a result, the possibility of natural gases, toxic substances, and other harmful things leaking into the ecological system is reduced. Thus, recycling is an essential activity to keep the environment clean safe for individuals. Another example is attached below, transform your plastic bottles into a money bank.

Week 5: Day 5
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Use reusable water bottles

One of the disadvantages of plastic bottles is that they require oil to manufacture and are extremely difficult to biodegrade, hence why we have the great garbage in the ocean. Plastic bottles influence not just the earth's resources but also people's health, thus, converting to reusable water bottles is an excellent approach to contribute to the reduction of plastic pollution. Moreover, reusable water bottles are a more cost-effective, safer, and environmentally friendly alternative to disposable water bottles. Using a reusable water bottle is certainly healthier for the environment in several ways.

23/03/2022

Week 5: Day 4
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Throwing away plastic bottles can hurt the environment in many ways. As plastic degrades, it releases chemicals into our water and air, causing a health risk to people, animals, and plants. To address these issues, people should have to work to develop a process for recycling plastic bottles and converting them into other useful items such as the picture below. Recycling helps to reduce pollution caused by the chemicals used to make plastic bottles. Recycling also helps to reduce the amount of trash thrown into landfills, resulting in less waste taking up space. Thus, let us all contribute a positive impact on the environment by recycling our plastic bottles.

Week 5: Day 3
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Use Recyclable and Eco-Friendly Bags

Using plastic bags can harm millions of animals every year, from birds to sea animals. It can take anywhere from 15 years to a massive 1,000 years to decompose, indicating they have a long-term impact on the environment. Thus, we encourage everyone to use reusable and eco-friendly bags. Reusable bags are not only providing you a studier, stronger, and comfort but can also help the environment heal. Moreover, plastic bags can minimize waste streams and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Small changes, such as taking your groceries home in reusable grocery bags, can set off a chain of events that benefits the environment in a variety of ways.

Week 5: Day 2
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Turn off the lights when not in use

Turning off your lights will help reduce the consumption of non-renewable resources that are harmful to the environment. During the day, you can turn off the lights especially if you are not using them. You can also turn off your appliances to help reduce your carbon footprint. This not only preserves the Earth but can also keep your energy bills low and save money. Moreover, turning off your lights is a simple method to help save the planet and reduce environmental impact.

Week 5: Day 1
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Good day, environmental stewards! I will be posting throughout the week relevant information and examples regarding the 3rโ€™s โ€” reduce, reuse, recycle.

What does 3Rโ€™s mean?

You might be asking what the "waste hierarchy" implies if you've heard of it. It is the priority list of measures to be implemented to reduce waste production and improve waste management processes and programs. The waste hierarchy is divided into 3 R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle. It is a way of living a suitable and healthier planet.

The three R's aid us in reducing the quantity of waste we generate. They save energy, natural resources, and landfill space. Moreover, you can lead to a healthier environment by simply refusing to buy products you don't need, reusing items multiple times, and properly disposing of items that are no longer used at designated recycling facilities.

Hello, environmental stewards! This is our sixth day of teaching you how to conserve water in the easiest and most impactful ways to have a better sustainable environment. One of the ways to conserve water is the storing of rainwater as it aids in the prevention of flood events caused by excessive rain.

The rainwater harvesting method is one of the most effective and widely used ways of conserving water. Today, a key source of concern is the scarcity of high-quality water. Nevertheless, purified and high-quality rainwater can be used for irrigation, washing, cleaning, bathing, cooking, and other agricultural needs. The water that has been stored can be used for cultivation in agricultural areas. The water can also be used for daily purposes or activities, hence lowering water expenses in towns and cities.

Good morning, environmental stewards! Now, we are on our fifth day of teaching you to conserve water in the simplest way we can do. We all know that water isn't free, and as it becomes increasingly scarce and more difficult to obtain, the price continues to rise. This is why it is critical to ensure that paid-for water is not squandered. Hiring a specialist to come into a household or company and do water leak detection can save a lot of money in the long run.

Checking for leakage both inside and outdoors can help you save a lot of water and money. If you've noticed a significant increase in your water bill, contact a plumber and have them inspect your water systems. Doing this can save a lot of water that can be used for our everyday activities.

Hello, environmental stewards! Another special day to teach you how we can conserve water in very simple ways where everyone despite the age can help contribute a positive impact on our mother nature. One of the ways that we can conserve water is to use the water from washing our rice for our cooking. The water coming from the rice wash may be also used to help plants grow and can contribute to a sustainable environment.

Water from rice wash can be utilized to water plants since it contains enough fertilizer and nutrients, and minerals for plants to use while also maintaining a healthy bacteria population as this promotes healthy plant growth. Having this kind of habit can conserve water easily and can also help the ecosystem since plants provide clean oxygen for us which is essential for survival.

Good mythical morning everyone! This is the third day teaching you on teaching you how to conserve water in very simple ways. One of the simplest ways you can conserve water is to take a shorter shower which can lead to a positive impact on our environment.

Showering for a shorter period can save liters of water. According to some studies, a 10-minute bath uses approximately 18 gallons of water! Having shorter, cooler showers can help you save water and energy. Taking shorter showers is only one of many strategies to save water and minimize water use. It's also a simple way to save money on your water bill.

Hi everyone! Another gorgeous day of having the opportunity to conserve your daily water use. One of the simplest ways you can conserve water is by turning off your water faucet while doing your personal care like brushing your teeth, shaving your facial hair, and many more.

Turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth, shaving, or doing other water-saving activities is one of the simplest methods to save water on a regular basis. It may not appear to be much, but when it comes to saving water, every little amount counts, even if it is only several minutes per day spent shaving or brushing teeth.

Simply dampen your toothbrush with faucet water (or don't dampen at all), then switch it again on when you rinse. Take that tiny step, and you've sanitized your teeth while also minimizing environmental impact!

All throughout our existence, we utilize water. It is necessary for practically all of our activities. We require water for drinking, bathing, cooking, washing, and a variety of other tasks. Bottom line: we require water for activities and behaviors that we engage in on a regular basis. We must save water if we are to maintain our bodies healthily, hygienic, and just about everything else.

Day after day, we continue to use water for a number of purposes. In addition, we continue to pollute it on a daily basis. Toxic byproducts from factories and sewage discharges are immediately discharged into our bodies of water.

Furthermore, there is little or no infrastructure for storing rainwater. As a result, floods have become a routine occurrence. Likewise, there is negligent usage of fertile riverbank soil. Flooding is also an outcome of this.

As a result, you can see how humans play a significant part in water scarcity. Living in urban settlements has already reduced the number of green areas. On top of that, we continue to clear forests, which are an excellent source of water conservation.

Many nations now lack access to potable water. Also, as a result, water scarcity is a major issue. We must address it immediately in different complex or simplest ways in order to transform the planet for future generations.

Land Conservation

In this time of pandemic where several restrictions are strictly implied and as a Student of Environmental Stewardship, the best option we can do is follow some restrictions and make use of our online platforms by posting publication materials such as posters.

Spending time in the presence of trees and gazing at them helps to relieve stress, lower blood pressure, and boost mood. Numerous studies have shown that walking in the woods or simply sitting and staring at trees can lower blood pressure and the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Heat-stroke prevention, cleaner air, better breathing, sounder sleep, stress reduction, disease prevention, and depression defense are just a few of the health benefits that trees and vegetation provide. Planting more trees improves the appearance of metropolitan areas while also making residents feel better.

Information About The Importance of Having Trees

Cutting trees may result in habitat loss for animal species, causing environmental damage. "70 percent of Earth's land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes," according to National Geographic. Aside from that, tree cutting may also result from floods and any other natural calamities that may occur.

We suggest that after cutting a tree, we replace them by planting new seedlings and waiting for them to grow.

Avoiding the burning of Plastics

Burning plastic garbage increases the risk of heart disease, aggravates respiratory illnesses like asthma and emphysema, causes rashes, nausea, and migraines, and harms the nervous system. Black carbon (soot) is released when burned plastic, contributing to climate change and air pollution. Its fragments end up as litter on the ground and in lakes and rivers. Animals may ingest the plastic as it degrades and become ill as a result. Larger pieces of plastic, for example, might serve as a breeding ground for diseases by retaining water and providing a home for mosquitoes.

As a solution, we recommend the three 3rs, which stands for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. By doing this, we can mitigate the effects of pollution and global warming, saving the environment and ourselves.

Planting More Trees

Tree roots help to keep the soil in place and prevent landslides by preventing erosion. It also collects and stores rainwater, reducing runoff and silt accumulation after storms. It also aids in the recharge of groundwater supplies, preventing chemical movement into streams and flooding.

We are inviting everyone to plant and replace the trees that the people cut or more relaxed and flood-free surroundings

Watering Plants

Water is essential for plant growth! Plants comprise roughly 80% to 95% water. They need water for various purposes as they grow, including photosynthesis, cooling, and transporting minerals and nutrients from the soil into the plant.

We as responsible human beings should at least water them twice a day because they give us fresh oxygen and shelter for free. Itโ€™s a matter of giving and taking relationship โ€œMutualism.โ€

Why is it essential to preserve our land? It gives clean drinking water, nutritious food, fresh air, and opportunities to ponder and relax. Land that has been conserved and adequately managed protects from natural calamities like floods and droughts, absorbs carbon, and keeps it out of the atmosphere. There are several steps in preserving our land which allow us to maintain and pass it onto the next generation.
