As this is the a sign of pledge to the environment that aims to raise awareness about the environmental challenges we face and inspire each and everyone to make changes in their daily lives that will have a positive impact on our planet.

By dancing the official dance craze "Together in this", together with the Erathos officers and members, Department of Student Government UM SHS officers, Sports Club - UM SHS, and The Quill - UM SHS, this shows that together we from the University of Mindanao, Senior High School Department, have this simple means to help in promoting and protecting our environment, by making a difference for a sustainable future.

"SUSTAINABILITY" is a term that has been bandied around a lot in recent years. As secondhand buying becomes increasingly popular, we must ask ourselves this question.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CLOTHES THAT DONT GET SOLD?

Increased apparel production has significantly boosted clothing exports. Previously, fashion shops created two seasons; currently, retailers generate UP TO 52 MICRO-SEASONS PER YEAR; we consume 60% more garments than in previous years, and we wear them HALF AS LONG.

The fashion industry is responsible for a significant amount of waste, with textile waste being a major contributor to the world's growing landfills. It's estimated that the average person throws away nearly 70 pounds of clothing and textiles each year, and the production of new clothing contributes to the depletion of resources and releases harmful chemicals into the environment.

To reduce global textile waste, we need to shift towards a more sustainable approach to fashion. This includes buying clothes made from environmentally friendly materials, supporting brands that prioritize sustainability, repairing and upcycling clothing instead of constantly buying new, and properly disposing of textiles when they reach the end of their life. By taking these simple steps, we can make a huge impact in reducing textile waste and preserving the planet for future generations.

We all have a role to play to : refuse plastic cutlery & straws, use refillable water bottles, bring your own shopping bags & avoid ocean-harming products.

Let us protect our mother earth from harm and take a step towards a greater environment.

Every year, humans produce 300 million tonnes of plastic waste, including 11 million tonnes that eventually wind up in the ocean. By 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in our seas.

We all have a role to play to : refuse plastic cutlery & straws, use refillable water bottles, bring your own shopping bags & avoid ocean-harming products.

Hello Earth! 🌍

We at the Erathos club frequently publish and distribute items meant to preserve, look after, and increase awareness of our world. So here are some of the ideas on how we can reduce the single used plastics and protect mother nature.

Plastic is so pervasive that it has become a vital component of our daily lives, but the garbage it generates is enormous. Every year, humans manufacture approximately 242 million tons of plastic, a significant portion of which reaches everywhere when discarded.

There is a request for household garbage to be transformed and recycled sustainably in Davao City because 50–60% of it is biodegradable and 20–30% of it is recyclable. Brgy Tacunan's local government unit signed a zero waste management agreement in Davao on October 1, 2020.

The ordinance will limit the use of single-use plastics in Davao City by giving specific permits to single-use plastics retailers. The use and/or distribution of single-use plastic products will be prohibited one year after the ordinance goes into effect.

Aside from the fact that plastic takes hundreds of years to degrade, it also offers significant health concerns to many species, which can ingest or damage ecosystems by accident. If these statistics aren't convincing enough, let us motivate you to take action to decrease your plastic waste.

We have become reliant on plastics for various applications, from packaging to products. Reducing our use of plastics is a simple way to bring our addiction under control.

We celebrate Christmas to regenerate and share our lives. We do it by engaging in the most ordinary acts of love and joy, and by sharing our blessings with others. Believing that no matter how big or small acts of kindness will never be wasted.

A simple yet memorable gift-giving was successfully done by the officers and members of the Erathos Club. Through the donations raised from the generous hearts of many individuals, our brothers and sisters who are struggling with homelessness are the recipients of this gift-giving activity.

Christmas is a season of giving and sharing that connects us with the true spirit of Christmas. 🎁

Hello, Ga!

The return of face-to-face classes after a two-year break has been met with positive and negative feedback from students who are settling into the new routine. We have interviewed one of the students about how the F2f classes so far?

Aryssa Lamalan said, "I'm happy about it because mas ma encourage nako na mag listen sa teacher tho naay some na dili kaayo namo ma hear ang voice and didto na part medjo lisod. Additionally, while this kind of setting makes me wanna listen more, the temperature of the room somehow affects my focus because it's so igang. But all in all, I really prefer face to face than distance learning."

The first week of face-to-face classes at the University of Mindanao was welcomed by an entertaining event. There were games, parades, and live bands. But let's not forget to do the CLAY GO RULE or "CLEAN AS YOU GO". We can enjoy our face-to-face classes while taking care of our environment.

By keeping yourself clean and bright, things will be easier for you. Organizing your things, and being clean helps you concentrate on your studies. It reduces stress because your things are not cluttered. You can easily do your school work and focus on your work. Being clean is being bright! Welcome back to our face-to-face class mga Ga!

"TINDIG PARA SA KALIKASAN" 🌱
- A mini-tree planting initiative by the Erathos Club.

The Dabaw Lunhaw Expo. 2022 gives idea to the Erathos Club to initiate and find way planting the distributed seedlings that was given in the said event last September 26, 2022 at the SM City Annex Event Center.

Planting trees greatly benefits us, particularly in our civilization, as they hold water, avoid flooding, refuel subsurface aquifers, and preserve atmospheric water v***r, which increases the likelihood of rainfall. Additionally, since animals rely on trees, it benefits them as well.

The instances that endanger the delicate balance required to sustain life include deforestation, freshwater contamination and scarcity, as well as oil drilling and fracking. People need to be aware of this critical issue because it could endanger our planet, which has an impact on us as well. What then should we do? Let's help ourselves first and then our planet. By purchasing reusable items like glass bottles, reusable bags, and reusable cups, we can protect the environment. Avoid purchasing disposable items like paper towels, bottles, and bags made of plastic. In areas without one, start a composting and recycling program. This will lessen the amount of waste we produce.

Did you know? That Trees are the longest residing organisms on Earth, and in no way die of antique age. Methuselah, an anticipated 4,852-year-antique historical Bristlecone Pine, is one of the oldest residing trees withinside the world.

Hello, Earth!🌍

We at the Erathos Club regularly post and share materials aimed at protecting, caring for, and raising awareness of our planet. In order to protect our planet, we must first start by improving ourselves.

Improvement begins with us. We are always the first line of defense for our world. By doing this, we do not only defend our own nature, but also ourselves. Our earth is deteriorating over time, but no one is paying attention. Let's start improving ourselves and our planet at home, by doing or changing small things that we do that might harm the planet. Land and environmental defenders continue to be at great risk in the Philippines, with the country being listed as the deadliest country in Asia for the ninth consecutive year with 19 environmentalists killed last year and at least 270 land defenders between 2012 and 2021).

The fight for our environment is also a fight for those who are at the front lines — environmental activists, organizations, and indigenous peoples. Without their help, the defenders of our last ecological frontiers, corporations and industries will only continue to abuse what's left of Mother Earth. .
