Hi Furparents, we urgently need a BLOOD DONOR for Blue which is positive with 3 blood parasites with 11 hematocrit and very low platelet count (1). He is in critical condition.

Donor must be:
-healthy and updated vaccine
-no history of blood parasitism
-no existing medical conditions
-atleast 25kgs and above
-2 to 5 years old


Please help us find a blood donor and save Blue. Thank you.

The crystals you dont want to see in Christmas season!

In this picture were a sample from urinalysis of a male cat that shows urine crystals.

The owner complaint that their cat was less active and has less appetite. They also observed an increased frequency of urination with small to no urine output. They came in for check up and we found out that the bladder was full and a bloody urine were extracted during catheterization.

Series of tests were conducted plus a catheter was placed to support urination. The patient was confined for further observation and treated with appropriate medication.

Thankfully, the cat was discharged after 3days of admission and able to urinate with ease at home.

SM**MA.

This yellow-greenish discharge is known as sm**ma. It is made up of dead skin cells, proteins and moisture. Sm**ma is a mucousy, odorless discharge that can be observed at the tip of the dog's p***s. This discharge is natural and does not indicate infection. It protects the p***s by keeping it moist and they make a useful lubricant during mating. However, a visit to your vet is important if you notice the following: excessive discharge, if there is blood present, or if the dog is frequently licking its p***s. Neutering will help decrease the production of sm**ma.

Two rescued dogs from Animal Rescue Rehabilitation & Fostering ARRF - Davao, Inc. tested positive for canine heartworm test. They are both asymptomatic and apparently healthy. The test were conducted as a screening test before placing them into the shelter. Unfortunately, their relocation will be delayed as they will be isolated from other dogs during treatment period.

Canine heartworms are only transmitted through infected mosquito bites. The disease can stay dormant inside the dog's system just like the two patient mentioned. It may also cause mild to persistent coughing, reluctant to exercise, decreased appetite and weight loss. In severe cases where adult worms occupy the heart, it could lead to death due to heart failure.

This disease is preventable through chewable tablets every month or injectable once a year.
