The City Government of Davao will be extending a calamity assistance worth P14,500,000 to 27 local government units (LGUs) in Luzon that were affected by Typhoon Carina last month.
The 20th City council has allowed the city government to source the cash assistance from the 30 percent Quick Response Fund (QRF) out of the 5 percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (DRRMF) of the city government of Davao for the calendar year 2024.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRMO) Head Alfredo Baluran, in an interview with the City Information Office, said it is already the practice of the city to provide cash assistance to cities hit by calamities regardless of whether or not they asked for the cityโs aid.
โWhether nangayo sila or wala the city government voluntarily extends our support sa mga LGUs nga victims of any calamity (Whether they ask for it or not the city government voluntarily extends support to the LGUs that are hit by any calamity),โ he said.
Following the onslaught of Typhoon Carina, the Davao CDRRMO immediately processed the necessary documents for the approval of the cash assistance for the typhoon-hit LGUs.
The 27 LGUs affected by the typhoon include the municipalities of San Mateo, Rizal; Baco, Oriental Mindoro; Macabebe, Pampanga; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro; Bauang, La Union; Cainta, Rizal; Paombong, Bulacan; San Andres, Romblon; Camiling, Tarlac; and Plaridel, Bulacan.
Cities to receive financial assistance include the City of San Juan, Metro Manila; Quezon City; Caloocan; Marikina; Manila; Navotas; Valenzuela; Mandaluyong; Pasay; Malabon; and Meycauayan, Bulacan.
The provinces of Bataan, Rizal, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas are also included.

Did you know that Doรฑa Vicenta Park uses Permeable Pavements?
Permeable pavements are a type of pavement surface that allows water to pass through it, rather than creating runoff. These pavements are designed to promote the infiltration of rainwater into the ground, reducing the burden on stormwater drainage systems and helping to recharge groundwater sources.
