How We Began

“Once you accept that your child will be different, not better or worse, just /different/, that’s the first step”

Acceptance also played an important role in the formation of Leaf Turning. Ms. Maila J. So, our administrator, is a mother of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. When her son was diagnosed in the year 2010, she discovered the limited resources available for children with special needs. This inspired her to collaborate with another parent, and her son’s previous teacher, who helped prepare him to enroll in a mainstream school, to form Leaf Turning Wellness Center. A few years later, they also saw the need for testing services as this was necessary for them to identify the specific areas needed to be addressed in their clients. This led them to developing services for psychological testing and assessment, thus, the name Leaf Turning Wellness and Testing Center.

Currently, Leaf Turning has 1 Psychologist, 3 Occupational Therapists, 2 Behavioral Therapists, and 2 Psychometricians, working with the motto “Discovering Uniqueness, Nurturing diversity.”
