CJC, PRC- DAVAO DEL SUR CHAPTER HOLDS BLOODLETTING ACTIVITY
Cor Jesu College -School Clinics, in partnership with Philippine Red Cross- Davao del Sur Chapter, has conducted another mobile blood donation program last February 15, 2023 at the Students Lounge during the Students Day Celebration.
The drive aimed to help meet the current demand for blood and encourage everyone to help by donating blood in order to sustain the quality of blood supply.
Leading the donors were faculty, staff and students from different Colleges and the largest group coming from the College of Special Programs with the supervision of Division Chairperson Hermogenes C. Orion, Jr., Ed.D.
It was an overwhelming response, especially after not conducting blood donations for almost three years due to the pandemic.
Aside from donating their blood, the donors get to know their own blood type, hemoglobin level and blood pressure and can save lives as well. The CJC Student’s Day Blood drive yielded 79 bags out of 135 donors.

ADDITIONAL OMICRON CASES DETECTED IN DAVAO REGION
Press Release / January 29, 2022

In the latest University of the Philippines Philippine Genome Center’s (UP PGC) Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) report, additional nine Omicron cases were detected from the 43 specimens sent from Davao Region last January 6,2022 and three more who were tested in other regions.

The 12 additional Omicron cases in the region were composed of ten local cases, and two Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs). Among the ten local cases, eight were from Davao City, one case from Davao Oriental, and another case with an address in Davao de Oro based on his Case Investigation Form (CIF), however, he is working and residing outside the region, thus, this case shall be retagged to other region, while both ROFs are residents of Davao City.

Additional information of these new cases will be released once available. Currently, the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit is closely coordinating with the concerned Local Government Units for intensive case investigation and to ensure that management is aligned with the interim guidelines in the management of Omicron variant.

In the midst of the omicron variant and other variants of concern threat in our region, no single strategy will provide full protection to an individual. Thus, the Department continues to reiterate to the public the importance of vaccination, strict adherence to minimum public health standard, and airflow as layers of protection against airborne COVID-19. Proper ventilation can be achieved by always keeping windows or doors open for fresh air to flow.

29/01/2022

Fully vaccinated individuals 18 years old and older are eligible for a booster shot, either homologous or heterologous, after the recommended interval of their completed primary series.

Please check the following information to know the recommended booster dose combination and intervals that suit your primary series shot.

The Department of Health is continuously encouraging everyone to get your booster shots once eligible.

DOH assures that all vaccines with Philippine FDA Emergency Use Authorization are proven safe and effective.

READ | Official Statement of Digos City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (CESU) on the Delta Variante Case traced in Digos City.

The first Delta Variant case tagged in Davao del Norte, a 22- year-old female, with no known international travel histories, is a permanent resident of Digos City. She has also established residence in Tagum City for quite some time due to employment reasons. The identified case is a front liner who was tested last June 17, and was considered a
recovered COVID-19 case on July 5.

Strengthened bio surveillance activities are being done by the local and regional health authorities to detect variants of concern (VOC) including the Delta variant. Specimens were sent to UP PGC in Manila, thus requiring 2-3 weeks turn around time of the result.

Despite being tagged as recovered, case re-investigation is conducted to ensure that onward transmission of VOC, especially Delta variant will be controlled and stopped.

The initial case re-investigation conducted by the Digos City Local Contact Tracing Team reflected significant encounters with some of her family members here in Digos City, on
these dates - May 30 and June 5, 2021. Nine (9) primary and secondary close contacts were identified.

The City Diagnostics and Testing team conducted RT-PCR swab test on the identified primary and secondary close contacts this morning, July 27, 2021. The said contacts are now on strict home quarantine pending test results.

We urge everyone to observe precautionary measures against COVID-19.
