Ang Featured Value of the Month natin ay PAGKALINGA SA KALIKASAN (CARE FOR THE EARTH)

“When people become self-centred and self-enclosed, their greed increases. The emptier a person’s heart is, the more he or she needs things to buy, own and consume. It becomes almost impossible to accept the limits imposed by reality. In this horizon, a genuine sense of the common good also disappears. As these attitudes become more widespread, social norms are respected only to the extent that they do not clash with personal needs.”

"TLE: The All-Around Academic"
"In line with the school's vision and mission, TLE Department aims to develop critical thinking, self-reliance, independence, culture sensitivity, and entrepreneurship in students through enhancing their skills on different uses of technology and application of life skills."
Pandemic Learning was not easy for students. They don’t have internet connection, or even gadgets for online classes. These learners don’t even realize their potential because they are not taught properly on their subjects in school.
One of those subjects is the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) which requires skills that aims to help and guide young minds to prepare themselves in the future.
TLE has 4 branches: Home Economics (HE), Agriculture and Fishery Arts (AFA), Industrial Arts (IA), and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Post pandemic, learners get back on their feet, when they enter the school again and learn face-to-face. They slowly appreciate hands on learning in TLE with the proper guidance of their subject teachers. They even get excited to join various competition.
Then, last April 29, 2024, Heritage Council of Lucena held a competition at Manuel S. Enverga University for the culminating activity of the Filipino Food Month, which purpose is to discover, restore and introduce heritage dishes in Quezon. This is a project called "QUENAMNAM".
Participants were high school students in Lucena and other areas in Quezon, there were 25 dishes presented by the students. Four students in Lucena City National High School presented a dish and bagged the major awards.
Pinais na Apta by Jose Jeremy M. Abrehan Grade 8-Steadfast, 7th place. Pinangat na Lagikway sa Kalamias by Joush Laurence M. Abrehan, Grade 9-Confidence, 3rd place. Paksiw na Siga sa Ubod ng Saging Amo by Luis Adrian M. Abrehan, Grade 11 HUMSS-Cabana, 2nd place and Pinangat na Gabi by Mheryl Ong from Grade 10-Liberty.
"Ang ganitong uri ng paligsahan ay nagiging avenue para makilala ng mga kabataan ang mga pagkain gulay na nasa paligid lamang na sa iba ay tinuturing na damo." Ms. Rhona Molbog stated, Master Teacher I of TLE Department.
Learners learn to appreciate and value things around them with the help of TLE subject, which it will strengthen what they know and open their minds with what they don’t know.
Furthermore, TLE provides practical skills and knowledge that they can use in their daily lives and in their future careers, as it emphasizes the important aspects such as; job preparation, expansion of knowledge, promotion of resourcefulness, improvement of budgeting and financial management, and being an independent individual.
Lastly, it promotes self-reliance and enabling harmonious and productive lifestyle.

Breaking barriers: Unlocking potential through SNED
Coach Vivian Z. Solidum, T-III English, Special Needs Education (SNED) coordinator successfully leads her team on the Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) 2024 with 2 gold medals in athletics, 2 gold medals in the track and field event, and 1 gold and 1 bronze medal in the sprint race in track and field.
The success of their team without the much-needed preparation. “We did not have enough time to prepare for RAAM. My players are 2 graduating students from Grade 12, and they had an equally important matters to attend to with regards to their studies. Thankfully, Team Boomers Lucena believes in the mantra 'Edukasyon ang Una'. However, during the live-in training before the RAAM proper, we had an ample time to train and practice. So, we practiced their specific skills or plays, we studied the game rules and mechanics, and we maintained their physical and mental fitness. We also consider having team chemistry makes us ahead among the other teams because they’ve been my players since 2019.” Mrs. Solidum, explained.
Team Boomers Lucena prioritizes the academic responsibilities of their players to ensure stable grades, immaculate health, and good mental health. SNED department focuses on this for the development of special kids with not only disabilities but also gifted and talented minds.
SNED provides tailored support, services, and educational programs to ensure that every child, regardless of their abilities, can reach their full potential academically, socially, physically, and emotionally, which makes this department a vital component of the educational system.
In addition, SNED uses assistive technology to better enhance the learner’s knowledge and positive behavior support to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
While significant progress has been made in advancing special education services, various challenges persist, including funding constraints, teacher shortages, and the need for ongoing professional development, and according to Mrs. Solidum, “One of the most pressing challenges I always encounter in special education is the perennial issue of funding shortages. Though we received budget from the region yearly, we still have inadequate financial resources, which can impede the provision of necessary services and support for students with disabilities. Another issue is the lack of preparedness and expertise among teachers for special education, as well as a lack of educational services and resources. To resolve these problems, I often seek advice or assistance from the school administration and even the supervisor. We also accept support from external stakeholders.”
However, these challenges also present opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and advocacy to ensure that every child receives the quality education they deserve.
SNED is immensely inclusive towards different children with countless potential, this department does not only unlock their potential, talents and skills, special education transforms lives, opens doors to new opportunities, and ensures that no child is left behind on their educational journey.
