Marine life serves as a significant source of economic growth for Barangay Tambacan, located in the captivating island of Mindanao. The local economy thrives on activities such as fishing, aquaculture, and tourism, all centered around the diverse marine ecosystem.

Fishing is the major source of living for most of the constituents of Barangay Tambacan. Not only because of its proximity to Iligan Bay but partly because Iligan's major dropping point for fish trades from the major fish ports in Mindanao is located at one of its puroks. Proximity of the location for fish wholesale has become an advantage for its local fish traders who are one of the majority of the fish traders of Iligan's two major market places which are The Pala-o Supermaket and Iligan's Wet Market (formerly Old Public Market).

The captivating sunset along the Tambacan bay, pristine coral reefs and abundant fish populations attract both local and international visitors, providing a boost to the hospitality sector and creating employment opportunities for the community. Barangay Tambacan recognizes the invaluable contribution of its marine life to its flourishing economy, and strives to maintain sustainable practices that preserve the natural beauty and richness of its coastal resources for generations to come.

This year, 10 promising women, hailing from the different zones of Barangay Tambacan are vying for the most coveted Binibining Tambacan 2023 crown!

In Barangay Tambacan, the Badjao people have found a warm embrace and genuine acceptance from the local community.
Depicting the way of life of the Badjao, who complete the unique community of Tambacan.
Despite having a rich cultural legacy, the Badjao still encounter a number of obstacles, such as poverty, prejudice, and a lack of opportunities for education and medical care.

As overfishing and pollution endanger their maritime resources, rapid industrialization and environmental deterioration also have an influence on their ancient ways of living.

The Badjao people's living conditions are improving as efforts are made to maintain their culture. Despite their distinct culture and traditions, the people of Tambacan have learned to value and respect their presence. The Badjao's rich heritage, known for their seafaring lifestyle and deep connection to the ocean, is now seen as a source of pride and fascination among the villagers. Through open-mindedness and understanding, the barriers that once separated these two communities have been broken down, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation for diversity. The Badjao people are now celebrated for their unique contributions, and their presence has enriched the tapestry of Barangay Tambacan's vibrant cultural landscape and this is exactly the message this pageant is sending.
