Giving you the full copy of "Manay Echos and Toto Shark" written and directed by Dan and Kali - A short educational film for the third episode of Syensya Storya - an Initiative of Global Shapers Iloilo Hub.
The short film ran around the two locals trying to feed themselves about the things they observed as they explore more of what they already know about their hometown. Would Manay Echos and Toto Sharks questions be answered? Would there be anyone who could help them? Join our casts as they move towards the wonders of the ocean!
A CALL FOR OCEAN AND CLIMATE LITERACY
Syensya Storya strives to develop stories highlighting Hiligaynon as they get the kids to understand the ocean’s influence of the people and the people’s influence on the ocean.
"Manay Echos and Toto Shark” was aired last (October 28, 2021) on Syensya Storya para sa Youth Climate Action Day via Zoom wherein the illustrations of some ocean features by Salingsing were showcased. Salingsing is a youth organization advocating for climate action in Calagnaan Island, Carles, Iloilo.
SYENSYA STORYA and GLOBAL SHAPERS ILOILO HUB were always grateful for the undying support of the people behind the progress of the project. May we continue to breed more ocean-literate Ilonggos that are able to create a more informed and responsible decision in favor of our ocean and its resources.
Might you have time to like the official page of Syensya Storya for more updates and upcoming activities addressing Ocean Literacy.

It has been 2 months since the last Syensya Storya Session. We have been completing illustrations and improving stories based on feedback from our previous Syensya Storya Sessions. In achieving our desired impact of ocean literate and climate responsive children and youth, the illustrations and story from Salingsing youth are the initial evidence of how we effectively communicate the ocean literacy principles and climate change concepts. For the World Environmental Health Day (September 26), we met with the Salingsing last September 29, 2021 for updates on the illustrations for Ocean Literacy Principle (OLP) #1 and reading session of the Ocean Literacy Principle #4 story. The internet connection remains a challenge (especially in Calagnaan Island) but we still forged on. View the initial illustrations for OLP #1! Stay tuned for the next Syensya Storya Session!

Syensya Storya illustrators gave life to our climate change, sustainability and ocean literacy principles stories through their illustrations. Know what our project means to our Syensya Storya illustrators with our series of illustrator profiles!
Last July 28, 2021, the 3rd Syensya Storya session (“Syensya Storya para sa National Disaster Resilience Month") took place via Zoom.
The 3rd Syensya Storya session was a storytelling and evaluation of the story entitled, “Pugada”. Pugada, written and illustrated by Salingsing members, was about how a child from an island perceives pugada or squall (a sudden violent gust of wind or a localized storm).
It is Syensya Storya’s story for the Ocean Literacy Principle no.3: The ocean is a major influence on weather and climate.
Over 30 participants attended the 3rd Syensya Storya session. We thank all those who attended our activity and we will continue to improve our children’s stories.
We look forward to your presence to the next Syensya Storya session! Padayon kami sa pagtudlo kag paglingaw sa mga kabataan parte sa climate and ocean literacy paagi sa mga istorya!

Today is the start of the three-day Earth Day event! And this year's theme is Restore Our Earth™. 🌎
One of the many initiatives that we support is Syensya Storya by the Global Shapers Iloilo Hub (GSIH) in partnership with Salingsing Youth Organization of Calagnaan Island, Carles, Iloilo. It aims to make use of storytelling in Karay-ah to promote climate literacy among the younger generations. Learn more about it here: https://www.facebook.com/SyensyaStorya
Meanwhile, here at Panublix, we have made the conscious decision to ditch printed catalogues and showcase our products since the start of the business. This minimizes the need to cut trees for paper products. We are taking this action further by researching for more eco-friendly ways to package our products.
What about you? How are you going to help restore the earth? Hit us in the comments below. 😊
