We figured you out; we all know now we all got crowns!

During the Iloilo Pride Pyesta celebration, one of the highlights was the search for the SOGIESC Ambassador 2023, held simultaneously with the Laban Mamsh Lipsync Competiton.

The showstoppers drop the crown to end the successful celebration of Pride Month in the City of Love.

Contestants sparkled the stage in their finger-wanking performances in the different segments: Production Number, District Inspired Costume, Jet Black Collection, Pride Attire and (everyone’s favorite) Interview.

Eight participants representing their respective districts vied for the title, but Quin Gomer Dellera from the District of Arevalo won the title of SOGIESC Ambassador 2023. Maricar Gonzales from Molo District and Ryan Dave Estrella from Lapaz District were the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.

The competition was far from the goal of a showcase, but it was a cry for representation of the LGTB community across platforms.

The best people in life are free!

Ilonggo members and non-members of the LGBT community painted the streets of the City of Love with all the embracing hues of inclusivity.

On October 22, 2023, the celebration of Iloilo Pride Pyesta 2023 commenced with a pride march from Iloilo Skate Park and ended at K-Town Festive Walk Iloilo.

The Iloilo Pride Team and its partner organizations and sponsors organized Iloilo Pride Pyesta 2023 with the theme “Iloilo Embraces Hue”. Members from Iloilo City Districts, youth organizations, and non-government organizations and companies participated in the celebration.

Different competitions and colorful activities filled the celebration with SOGIESC Ambassador 2023, the Laban Mamsh Drag LipSync Competition, and many more.

The Pride Pyesta was the highlight of the month-long celebration of Pride in Iloilo City.

Annually, the Iloilo Pride Team made sure to not only celebrate Pride but to make it a protest that love knows no gender and that rights should be equal for all.

We never go out of style!

Last October 22, held simultaneously with the Search for the SOGIESC Ambassador 2023 after the Pride Pyesta March, it was a slay moment for the fairest of them all, Jeyana, during the Laban Mamsh Drag LipSync Competition.

The competition was held at K-Town Festive Walk Iloilo, and it was a wildest dream filled with colors as 8 Ilonggo Drag Queens lipsync for their lives.

It was part of the Pride Month celebration offered by the Iloilo Pride Team, but the true essence of pride will always come through, as not just drag, which is a protest, but the whole pride is a fight for equality.

The Iloilo Pride Team continues to organize these activities every year to celebrate inclusivity and the rights enjoyed by all.

𝗔 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘄𝘀: 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝘅 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯

Iloilo's Art x Pride 2023 celebrated LGBTQIA++ expression through diverse art, celebrating inclusivity and acceptance.

In the heart of Iloilo City, at the bustling Festive Walk Mall and the confines of the Cinematheque, a remarkable event unfolded in a burst of color, creativity, and pride. The second edition of "Art x Pride Iloilo'' took place this year and showcased a fusion of literary and visual art. The event provided a platform for local artists to express themselves, sharing not just their art but the stories that accompany each piece, highlighting the struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQIA++ community.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲

As attendees flooded in a sea of vibrant flags and eclectic outfits, the atmosphere was charged with excitement. The audience was primarily composed of members of the LGBTQIA++ community, art enthusiasts, and individuals who came to show their support for this celebration of creativity and identity.
Visual art aficionados were treated to a visual feast, with both digital and traditional art forms filling the gallery. Each piece was a reflection of each artist's personal journey and a reflection of the lived realities of q***r individuals.

𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗲

One local artist, Gelo Zarsuelo, stood out among the talented creators. His piece entitled "Blazing" captivated the audience with its raw intensity. According to Zarsuelo, the artwork symbolized the expression of desire. "This is how I envision what 'desire' looks like. Raw, intense, and unafraid," Zarsuelo shared. "It is a confrontation of how society expects us, q***r people, to tone down and suppress our inner feelings. This piece is a revelation of our deepest impulses and passion." Zarsuelo's work invited viewers to embrace their desires and express their passions without inhibition.

𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

Throughout the event, each artist had the opportunity to share the stories behind their pieces. This personal touch added a layer of depth and intimacy to the exhibition where attendees relate with the creators where they feel seen and heard. It reminded everyone that art is not just about aesthetics but rather a medium through which we can understand and empathize with the experiences of others.
The event promoted inclusivity and acceptance. It served as a reminder that creativity is a powerful tool for social change and can be used to challenge preconceived notions and prejudices against minorities. As the event drew to a close, Art x Pride served as proof of the power of art to carry out change and celebrate a shared identity.

Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program Hosts Talk with Myka Denila Corro, CCO of Sowenscale.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently organized a talk as part of its Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program, aiming to empower local agricultural communities. The event featured an informative session with Mrs. Myka Corro, Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of Sowenscale where she shared her expertise on Information, Education, and Communication materials to craft creative conceptualization, captivating design, and compelling content that resonates with audiences.

𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗡𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀

Speaker Myka Corro commenced her presentation by highlighting the transformative power of creative storytelling in IEC materials. She emphasized that information alone is not enough, it's how information is presented that truly makes an impact.

"Art is not perfect. Creativity is not perfection. It is simply a form of expression"

Corro noted. "It’s a way for everyone to convey their thoughts, emotions, and ideas in unique and often unexpected ways."

𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀

The discussion extended to the significance of captivating design using IEC materials. The speaker shared her examples of how well-designed visuals, layouts, and graphics can simplify complex information into "bite-sized" and entertaining info content.

"IEC materials play a crucial role in disseminating complex information by breaking down intricate concepts," Corro explained. "It makes information understandable and communication effective."

By combining design prowess with the core of IEC materials, Myka expressed how this synergy can transform abstract data into information that can easily be absorbed. This fusion transforms it into a visual narrative that can resonate deeply with the audience, allowing for a seamless interpretation of intricate ideas where the message lingers in the minds of those it reaches.

𝗜𝗘𝗖 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲

Myka stressed how Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials are potent tools for sparking change. She explained that IEC materials are not just ordinary tools; they have the power to inform, inspire, and trigger transformations in people and communities. This is especially important when it comes to sustainability and getting communities involved.

Through IEC materials, communities not only get to learn why sustainability matters but also get inspired to make real changes for a more mindful and responsible future. They're like dynamic forces that can shape how people think and act which guides us all towards a brighter and more sustainable future.

The DOST’s RAISE Program continues to be at the forefront of agricultural innovation. Myka Corro's insightful talk on the significance of IEC materials has shed light on how knowledge dissemination can be a powerful tool in driving positive change within the agricultural sector. With a strong commitment to empower local communities with information, education, and communication, the future of agriculture in the region looks brighter than ever.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽?

In the picturesque city of Salamanca, Spain, the 5th Asia-Europe Foundation Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS5) recently unfolded, marking a convergence of diverse young minds and cultures. Hosted by ASEFEdu in partnership with Casa Asia, Universidad de Salamanca, and the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, Unión Europea y Cooperación de España, this four-day summit program brought together over 90 dynamic young leaders from Asia and Europe. The event, which followed a month-long knowledge-building phase, was a melting pot for ideas, learning, exchange, and collaboration that centered around the theme of Leadership in Society 5.0.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝟱.𝟬?

Well, imagine this: Society 5.0 is like our vision of what the future would look like when we were kids! Except it’s less exaggerated and more realistic. It's all about blending the everyday world we see and touch like buildings, cities, and industries with the smart digital world. Think data, AI, and other IoT gadgets. The concept is basically building a high-tech world where everything works together smoothly and sustainably, making life way more vibrant! So, it's all about making our lives better and our planet happier.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗔𝗜’𝘀 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱

Diving into the AI conversation, things got pretty interesting. Guests started wondering, could robots actually be our future bosses?

While it’s a game-changer that redefines what leadership means in our tech-packed world, it can also be a potential threat to livelihoods. On one hand, there's all this excitement about blending the real world with the digital one for a brighter future. And on the other, some folks worry that AI might sn**ch our jobs! See, AI can crunch data super fast BUT it might miss the subtleties of human emotions, culture, and life's unpredictable surprises! So, it's not just about saving jobs, it’s about figuring out the unique role humans will play in this high-tech world. We hold onto what makes us special such as our creativity, empathy, and moral compass while letting AI solve all the menial problems for us.

𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

To thrive as a leader in Society 5.0 is quite the juggling act. It's about balancing tech expertise with a compassionate heart, a fusion of innovation and empathy, and finding harmony between data and ethical choices. It's not just about being a tech wizard, even though that's important. Soft skills, like effective communication, empathetic understanding, and adaptability, are equally crucial. Collaboration and problem-solving with others are vital too. Above all, it's about making sound and equitable decisions to steer Society 5.0 towards a brighter future for all.

Overall, ASEFYLS5 served as a platform for ideas and solutions that can shape the future. The summit's focus on Leadership in Society 5.0 emphasized the importance of adaptive leadership in an era characterized by rapid technological advancements, environmental challenges, and societal transformations. It encouraged participants to think beyond conventional leadership structures and explore innovative approaches to address modern issues.

Attention all coffee lovers and brew enthusiasts!

As we embrace the spirit of International Coffee Day, Festive Walk Iloilo has been brewing excitement, no pun intended, over the past few days. If you haven't jumped into the caffeinated fray just yet, now is your last chance to join the fun!

‘𝗡𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗧𝗮!

The coffee festival, as lovingly as Ilonggos, named Timpla Ta!, extends a warm invitation to coffee lovers, sip-sippers, coffee crafters, and anyone with a caffeine vein in their body to take part in the festivities from September 30th to October 1st.

Local cafes and coffee shops came to showcase their brewing magic, shared some of their tips, secrets, and the art of Aeropress mastery. Skillful baristas took center stage and whipped up a few cups for the passerby audience.

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗼 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲?

Apart from the renowned title “the City of Love” and ranked 8th in the safest cities in Southeast Asia, Iloilo City is also known for having coffee shops and cafes left and right in every corner. With Festive Walk Mall celebrating this event, we found ourselves in the perfect setting to sit down and chat with some of the city's go-to café owners. We couldn’t help but wonder so we asked them the question that intrigued us the most.

"What do you think is the reason why customers return?" Kucho Cafe chimed in with a heartwarming response, "Our goal is to bring back the lost art of conversation."

For Kucho, the secret ingredient lies in customer service that goes above and beyond. They expressed how they strive to create a cozy, home-away-from-home atmosphere, adding a personalized approach that's as smooth as their finest espresso. Imagine a cafe that tailors its menu suggestions to your preferences through “suggestive service” – that's the kind of bond they share with their patrons.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗲𝘁

But wait, coffee comrades, the party isn't winding down just yet! The grand finale of the Coffee Festival awaits on October 1st, and it's none other than the celebration of International Coffee Day itself.

So, don't let this brew-tiful chance slide! Head straight to the Festive Walk Iloilo Indoor Atrium and be greeted with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that intertwines with the excitement in the air.

Come sip, savor, and celebrate Coffee Day with us – it's a jolt of joy (and maybe palpitation) you wouldn't want to miss! ☕✨

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲: 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘁. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗸𝗼 ✨

In the fast-paced world of business, adaptability and sustainability are no longer optional traits for leaders, they are essential for success. To shed light on this aspect of contemporary leadership, Guest Speaker Angelica Kilayko, COO of Sowenscale addressed the theme of "Elevating Business Leadership Towards Adaptable and Sustainable Business Dynamics."

The talk was part of the 27th Western Visayas Conference, spearheaded by BMAP. Here, we delve into the most notable segments of the event.

𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Leaders must foster a culture of innovation within their organizations, encouraging employees to think outside the box and come up with new ideas. Creativity isn't just product development as it extends to problem-solving, process optimization, and team dynamics.

One key message that resonated with the audience was the importance of adaptability. In today's business environment, change is constant, and leaders must be prepared to adapt quickly when situations demand it.

“Flexibility in decision-making, openness to change, and the ability to learn from failures are attributes of adaptable leaders.”

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

Participants were given a visual representation of a timeline, and they were asked to mark significant events in their leadership journey.

This activity served as a reminder that leadership is not a static concept. It evolves over time, is influenced by experiences, challenges, and personal growth.

𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The final segment of the talk focused on actionable strategies. Four key components were highlighted:

a. Set Goals:
Leaders must establish clear and realistic goals for themselves and their organizations.

b. Have Grit:
Leaders should possess the determination to overcome obstacles and continue pushing forward, even when the going gets tough.

c. Take Action:
Leaders must be proactive in implementing strategies and making decisions that drive their organizations to push forward.

“They see what you do, they mirror what you do. It’s a domino effect.” - Angelica Kilayko

These insights not only enlighten but also inspire many others to commit to the journey of becoming adaptable leaders. To witness oneself thrive while inspiring a new generation of leaders who will shape the future of business with resilience, innovation, and sustainability are the only ways to go forward.

Ready to Discover Top Style Secrets?

In a fusion of fashion and learning, the morning of August 24, 2023, witnessed the convergence of style enthusiasts at the Condura Iloilo Negosyo Hub Branch. The space was transformed and resembled a fashion masterclass classroom. Top fashion advice, tricks, and clothing care revealed in Condura's styling event featuring Celebrity Stylist and Designer, Moses Beramo.

𝗔 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻

The masterclass delved into the core of fashion choices and tackled mostly on the meticulous design of clothing elements. A standout example was the exploration of utilitarian fashion, where garments adorned with multiple pockets were dissected for their functionality. These utilitarian marvels were originally crafted to cater to the needs of working women, providing them with versatile clothing capable of storing tools and equipment.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 ‘𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’ 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

Moving on from functionality, Moses' teachings shifted into artistry. Attendees were taught the piecing together of wardrobe ensembles, how to elevate a single basic garment into multiple outfit styles by pairing it with accessories so they don’t appear repetitive. Body types played an important role as Moses unveiled the power of specific clothing choices in flattering different physiques.

𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆

A pinnacle moment during the masterclass spotlighted the significance of clothing care. The need to extend the lifespan of beloved clothes was emphasized as a crucial part in prolonging the longevity of one’s wardrobe. This is made easy with the use of Condura's Washing Machines. A standout feature was the innovative Bubble Clean Technology, a stain-eradicating technology that dissolves and activates the detergent, helping the bubbles to pe*****te deep into the fabric fibers for more effective removal of stains. The inverter technology incorporated within these models also makes an energy-efficient laundering.
