It has has changed the way we communicate, do business, get our daily news fix and so much more. The most obvious pros of using social networks are the ability to instantly connect with people, know real-time news and information discovery, great opportunities for business owners, and for general fun and enjoyment. However, it is no secret that there's also a dark side in using social media platforms. There is the rise of misinformation and fake news. The freedom to post any content given to social media users, paired with the lack of accountability from social media platforms enabled the proliferation of fake news. Jecel Mae Colonia of Barangay San Juan, Molo responsibly uses social media platforms and would like to stop or discredit fake news peddlers.

CLUP APPROVED BY DHSUD

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Sec. Eduardo del Rosario signedbthe approval of the Iloilo City Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2021-2029.

The city's CLUP adheres to the Guidelines on CLUP and Zoning Ordinance Formulation issued by the DHSUD.

This document serves as a road map of the city towards the realization of its vision and mission. It is a guide that ascertains the effective, efficient, and productive use of the city’s scarce physical resources, and ensures that all efforts will not jeopardize the future of the Ilonggos.

It contains new features that were not present in the city’s previews CLUPs, such as the mainstreaming of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction; adoption of the integrated watershed eco-systems management framework, including the Citizen Report Card; and integrating thematic concerns such as biodiversity, cultural heritage, urban design and green growth, among others.

The approval was done on May 12 via Zoom leading the City Government team in Iloilo and DHSUD key officials present at their office in Metro Manila.

So There's no surprise if the RACI survey shows the landslide votes for Mayor Jerry Treñas.

Message to kakampinks

Many of us got really involved in politics for the first time. Our idealism was fired up and for the first time, we wanted to do something and ensure that we will elect someone we look up to as president. We printed our own tarps, brought siopao, sandwiches, and water to rallies. Had our t-shirts printed and attended rallies. The spirit of volunteerism was very much alive. It felt like a movement rather than a campaign because rallies were led and funded by the people.

Now the results are already out. Let us all feel the pain - share it with our family and friends and yet we need to move on. We need to do something about our less privileged brothers and sisters in society. We need to see what else are needed in the depressed communities and organize ourselves and work with religious organizations and NGOs or local governments to make life a little better for everyone. I hope that our spirit of volunteerism doesn’t end in the campaign, because just like the candidate we supported, I believe that there is a need for us to show up and do something for the community especially in the most trying times.

Let’s help in making life easier for everyone because I know this is what our candidate would also want to happen - whether she’s the president or not.

Being proclaimed as the Mayor of Iloilo City for my second term, I couldn’t thank you all enough for your trust and support. I know we have mixed emotions about the results because VP Leni did not win as the president, and for most, it’s still so hard to process since we have dedicated so much time and efforts campaigning for her.

However, difficult as it may be, we have to accept that the majority voted for a different candidate, and as good citizens of the country, we have to show him our support and ensure that he succeeds in leading the Philippines.

Congratulations to the Presumptive President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. May you always be surrounded by divine guidance as you lead the entire Filipino community.
