As "Buwan ng Wika" draws to a close, imagine bidding farewell with a celebration that captures the heart of Filipino culture in all its colors and sounds. Unravel the richness of the Filipino language with our collection of deep words that are rarely used. Dive into the world of Tagalog words and discover the beauty, nuances, and complexity of this vibrant language.

Some of the Filipino words that you donโ€™t know exist.

Fun fact: The pre-colonial writing script of the Tagalogs in the Philippines is Baybayin, an alphabet with 17 symbols that represent 14 consonants (katinig) and 3 vowels (patinig); it was initially used to sign documents, write poetry, and communicate before we were introduced to the alphabet we know today.

Did you know that a simple act of kindness can create a wave of change, touching countless lives? Thatโ€™s the power of blood donation. The IDC-CRCY, in collaboration with IDCAA, SCRO, and IDC-SSC, is organizing a life-saving bloodletting activity on September 20, 2024 at IDC Main Campus - Gazebo Area from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, and we need heroes like you to step forward.

By donating just a drop of your blood, you have the potential to save not just one life, but millions. Imagine being the reason someone gets a second chance at lifeโ€”a parent to return home, a child to keep dreaming, a friend to share more memories. This is your opportunity to make an impact that will be felt far beyond what you can see.

Join us in this life-saving missionโ€”roll up your sleeves and contribute to a cause that could be the lifeline someone is hoping for. Your donation today could be the hope that someone desperately needs for tomorrow. Be the change. Be the hero. Together, we can save millions.

THE LAST LETTER TO THE LOVER I NEVER HAD

Farewells are never my thing, but I bade you goodbye
I never knew it was the last glimpse I had of you
Forgive me if I never returned the spark in your eyes
If only I'd realized then, I'd pull out these words from my tongue.

Do you ever look at someone and wonder? What is going on inside the freshmenโ€™s heads? ๐Ÿง

As they navigated their way through this cascade of emotions โ€”from the thrill of new beginnings and the anxiety of the unknown to the joy of connecting with peers and the thoughts of stepping into their future careers. The Frosh Day event was indeed a precious core memory for these students.

The day seamlessly weaved friendships, connections, and unforgettable experiences that they would carry throughout their lives. Their perceptions of the event may vary, but one thing is clear:
โ€œChange is scary, but sometimes it leads to great things.โ€ - Fear

From its humble beginnings as a small town to its current status as a thriving and respected city, Iloilo City celebrates its 87th Charter Day on August 25 with the theme โ€œRise, Iloilo City: Remarkable Ilonggos Sustaining Excellence at 87.โ€

Known as the the โ€œCity of Love,โ€ Iloilo City is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, warm-hearted Ilonggos, and dynamic industries that have driven its economic success and garnered widespread acclaim.

The cityโ€™s journey to autonomy began when President Manuel Luis Quezon signed Commonwealth Act No. 158, officially establishing Iloilo as a Chartered City by merging the municipalities of Jaro, Molo, La Paz, Mandurriao, and Arevalo.

Mayor Jerry Treรฑas has announced that this yearโ€™s Charter Day celebration will be the โ€œbiggest and grandestโ€ in the cityโ€™s history, with festivities that honor a diverse group of outstanding individuals and departments within the Ilonggo community.

Ninoy Aquino Day is annually celebrated every 21st of August. This is to commemorate the assassination of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr., the husband of Corazon Aquino, who later became the eleventh Philippine President. He was assassinated on August 21, 1983, on the tarmac of Manila International Airport (now named Ninoy Aquino International Airport in his honor).

The flame for freedom and democracy that burns brightly inside every Filipino's soul was stoked by Ninoy's passing. His passing will always be marked in this nation's history. This day will always honor the life and contributions of a cherished freedom hero.

Malacaรฑang has moved the special non-working holiday for Ninoy Aquino Day from August 21 (Wednesday) to August 23 (Friday). This adjustment creates a four-day weekend running until Monday, August 26, which is National Heroes Day, a regular holiday.

Additionally, Iloilo City will mark its 87th Charter Day on August 25. This commemorates the signing of Commonwealth Act No. 158 by President Manuel Luis Quezon, which united the municipalities of Molo, Lapaz, Jaro, Mandurriao, and Arevalo into what is now Iloilo City.

The campus hummed with anticipation as students gathered for the annual orientation week and Freshman Day. This yearโ€™s theme? Inside Out 2! The grounds of Iloilo Doctorsโ€™ College came alive with a kaleidoscope of colors and emotions during the Frosh Day Celebration on August 16, 2024, held at the IDC BED gymnasium.

Faculty members, administrators, and student leaders marked this significant milestone for the freshmen, transforming the campus into an emotional wonderland to warmly welcome the newest members of the college community.

The event sparked connections and created lasting memories. โ€œFrosh Dayโ€ was all about camaraderie and bonding. Students transformed into their beloved characters from Inside Out, embodying Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear, representing their departments. The campus quad came alive with joy as students displayed their talents. Overpowering emotions battled for supremacy as first-year students participated in team-building activities, icebreakers, and friendly competitions from sack races to tug-of-war; everyone gave their best shot.
