We were called-out over a facebook post from our Nursing colleague criticizing over the uniforms of the staff (doing the nails) who wears exactly the same all-white uniform as some of the Professional Nurses does.

The PNA Zamboanga Sibugay emphasizes that there had been no established policies (national or local) that specify a standard “Nursing Uniform”. It is evidently seen in different Health Care set up and the policies established by some institutions as to wearing a prescribed uniform. There were no legal obligations for people wearing the same uniform as we have for Nurses.

However in the Nursing practice of profession especially here in the Philippines, it is but our basic and long-established mores to wear a full-white uniform with pin and cap (for women) that signifies a person’s service, honor and demonstration of skills and efficiency. The all white “Nursing Uniform” with pin and cap also delineates a Professional Nurse from other allied Health Professionals.

While the purpose of the Spa and Wellness Center for wearing a similar cut and design same as a “Nursing Uniform” is intentional or not. We cannot discount their skills and their capabilities in performing their job as therapist or the likes and that is to give service to it’s clients and earn a better living.

Therefore the PNA Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter is primed to synthesize and mediate this concern/issue through an appropriate venue and process.

At the end of the day, we are all bound to respect, and uphold our reputation and portray ourselves as Professional Nurses through our ideal “Nursing Uniforms”.

Last March 23, 2024- PNA Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter participated and joined a face to face seminar on Non-Communicable Diseases in Zamboanga City led by PNA ZC Chapter.

This is our way to show support to our co-chapter in the Region with their activities and to draw some inspiration among these programs to also be applied in our local Chapter in the future.

Last January 26, 2024- the PNA Zamboanga Sibugay Officials were cordially invited for the Face to Face Oath-Taking Ceremony of New Nurses in Pagadian City. Spearheaded by PNA Zamboanga Del Sur Chapter in partnership with PRC Pagadian Regional Office.

Welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm, the PNA Zamboanga Sibugay officials (attended by the Chapter President- MJ Rom and two members of the Executive Committee in the person of Precious Olegario and Jethro Abrea) respectively were introduced and was recognized as visiting guests during the ceremony.

“ The 1st ever Regional Chapter President’s Meeting“ happened here in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay last March 2, 2024 and PNA Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter was the first host for this momentous gathering.

This marks the beginning of convergence and confederation among the 5 Chapters of Zamboanga Peninsula namely:

🏳️ Zamboanga Del Norte Chapter
🏳️ Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter

With the presence of each Chapter Presidents, the gathering was made a success. It was a sweet moment to finally meet and share stories, best practices that can provide a learning lesson from each chapter. Presided by the PNA Region IX Governor- Josephine Paragas, agendas were discussed and taken by the Chapter Presidents as to chapter accreditation, online membership registration issues, chapter by-laws unification and etc.

What a victorious day for PNA REGION IX- ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA!

Attended this year’s 1st PNA Meeting with the Chapter President’s nationwide. An interactive virtual session that provided the opportunity for each Chapter to be introduced to the new set of PNA National Executives and so with other PNA Committee Chairs.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter- represented by the President MJ Rom actively participated in the session raising concerns on matters such as membership, renewal of accreditation and the plans for Continuing Professional Development activities locally.

This is the commitment of the chapter to sustain its tangebility to the National Headquarters and to support all its endeavors
