CONTINUOUS RANDOM K9 INSPECTIONS IN BUS TERMINALS AND COURIER/CARGO PROVIDERS

This Unit continuously conducts regular and random K9 inspections around public utility vehicle terminals and cargo delivery service providers. For the past two weeks, this unit was able to conduct k9 inspections on the following cargo providers: Victory Liner Drop and Go; Genesis/Joy Bus; Solid North Bus, Fariñas Bus, Dalin Bus, Dagupan Bus, Partas Bus, Partas Cargo Container, JRS Express, Ninja Van Courier, and J&T Express.

These are regular and random preventive activities of this Unit which aim to deter unscrupulous individuals who would try to use couriers and cargo facilities as their means to transport illegal drugs to and from the region.

DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE PROGRAM UPDATE!!!

Earlier this week, personnel of PDEA CAR LTIU conducted Drug-Free Workplace Seminars at RICMAR DIESEL CENTER, La Trinidad, Benguet and ARCAS YARD, Tiptop, Baguio City. Among the topics discussed were the Salient Provisions of RA9165, Drug Identification, Ill Effects of Dangerous Drugs, Concealment Methods and the Drug Free Workplace Program of the government.

INTRODUCING AND MAINTAINING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE PROGRAM FOR PRIVATE ESTABLISHMENTS

To introduce and maintain the implementation of the Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP), this unit held meetings with the owners/managers of Ingco La Trinidad, Cordillera Gallery Grill and Restaurant, and Arca's Yard. Lectures on DFWP were scheduled and arranged for their employees.

CONTINUOUS DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE ACTIVITIES AT LA TRINIDAD DISTRICT AND MUNICIPAL JAIL

This Unit with its Narcotic Detection Dogs conducted routine search and seizure operations at the La Trinidad District and Municipal Jail on July 25, 2022, while the PDEA CAR Chemists conduct mandatory drug testing for BJMP employees and random drug testing of Person Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). Both activities yielded negative results.

The PDLs/BJMP staff also attended a lecture / open forum on the ongoing activities of the Drug Free Workplace Program given by the legal service of PDEA CAR.

COLLABORATION WITH JOHN HAY MANAGEMENT CORPORATION (JHMC) FOR A DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE PROGRAM

This unit, led by IAV Charlton John Carame, met with the John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) VP/COO Jane Theresa G. Tabalingcos and Safety and Security Department Manager Ret. Col. Philip George Demot to institute the Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) for the company. The JHMC officials expressed their interest in entering into a Memorandum of Agreement with PDEA for this purpose. Scheduling a DFWP lecture for JHMC personnel and conducting random K9 inspections around the JHMC premises were identified as the initial activities, while the legal units of both agencies are finalizing the Memorandum of Agreement. This unit's narcotic detection dog, "Paul," was also able to demonstrate in front of the JHMC staff his capability of sniffing positive odors of illegal drugs.

🏡 Balay Silangan is a community-based reformation program which aims to rehabilitate surrendered drug personalities and reforming them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society. It is an alternative intervention for drug personalities who are not users and are not eligible to undergo medical treatment and rehabilitation in facilities supervised by the Department of Health (DOH).
