Nagsagawa ng site visitation, water sample at phytoplankton collection ang BFAR 4A - Fisheries Production and Support Services Division sa identified site ng oyster culture in raft sa Brgy.Pinagbayanan, San Juan Batangas noong ika-19 ng Enero 2023.

Pinangunahan ng Regional Focal Person for Shellfish, Bb.Amparo L. Fang, Alternate Focal Bb.Reynely Cardel at Aquaculturist II, G.Ryan DM. Moldez katuwang ang BFAR IV-A RFLD staff Bb.Joy Azarias at G.Justine Alvero, BFAR 4A - Provincial Fisheries Office of Batangas OIC, Bb.Krystine Escosura at Municipal Agriculture staff ng San Juan, G.Felix E.Leopango ang nasabing aktibidad.

Nakipag-ugnayan ang grupo sa
Samahan ng Magtatalaba ng Brgy.San Juan upang kumuha ng sample ng tubig at phytoplankton na kanilang iaanalyze sa laboratoryo upang tiyaking ligtas ang area na pag-aalagaan ng talaba.

May kabuuang sampung (10) set na shellfish raft ang ibibigay sa nabanggit na samahan na sa kasalukuyan ay may 15 na miyembro.

Bumisita din ang grupo sa Ternate,Cavite noong ika-31 ng Enero upang muling magsagawa ng site assessment at collection of water sample. Nakipag-ugnayan sila sa
Samahan ng Mangingisda ng San Jose at tinalakay ang ibibigay na proyekto sa mga nag-aalaga ng talaba.

Kasama ang Laboratory Manager Bb.Ligaya P.Cabrera at kanyang mga staff Bb. Eusebia Chrissevi Dianquinay, Bb.Jessa Larita, Bb.Esa Lumayor at G.Justine Alvero, BFAR 4A - Provincial Fisheries Office Cavite OIC Bb.Marinel Punzalan at staff Bb. Nilda Engcoy, katuwang ang tanggapan ng Pambayang Agrikultor ng Ternate sa pagsasagawa ng nabanggit na aktibidad.

Limang (5) set na shellfish raft ang nakalaan para sa grupo ng magtatalaba sa Brgy.San Jose.

Ang proyektong ito ay nasa ilalim ng Technology Demonstration upang ipakalat ang pag-aalaga ng talaba gamit ang "Floating Raft Method" na mas mainam kaysa sa traditional "Stake Method".

Bumisita ang BFAR 4A-Fisheries Production and Support Services Division noong Enero 26-27, 2023 sa mga bayan ng Buenavista, San Andres at San Narciso,Quezon upang makipag-ugnayan sa mga proyektong ibibigay sa ilalim ng Seaweed Development Program.

Nakipag-ugnayan sila Bb. Emiliana C.Casbadillo, OIC-FPSSD, G. Domingo L. Torres,Regional Focal Person ng Seaweeds at Bb.Reynely M. Cardel, FPSSD staff sa punong-bayan ng Buenavista na si Mayor Reynaldo Rosilla Jr. kasama ang pambayang agrikultor na si Bb. Reynette Loayon upang talakayin ang pagbibigay ng Seaweed Farm Implements sa "identified beneficiary", ang itatatag na Samahan ng mga Magse-seaweeds ng Buenavista,Quezon.

Bumisita din ang grupo sa tanggapan ng LGU San Andres at nakipagtalakayan sa kanilang Municipal Administrator na si G.Ferdinand Lacbayin at ng kanilang Municipal Agriculturist.

Gayundin sa tanggapan ng pambayang agrikultor ng San Narciso sa pamamagitan ni G.Felicito Dinglasan, MA staff.

May kabuuang 30 sets na kagamitan at pananim ang ibibigay sa nabanggit na mga bayan: Buenavista (10 sets), San Andres (10 sets) at San Narciso (10 sets). Ito ay gagamitin upang makabuo ng PVC Raft Cage Method na magsisilbing panimula ng mga napiling Samahan upang makapag-alaga ng seaweeds at makatulong sa kanilang kabuhayan.

On December 21, 2022, Fisheries Production and Support Services Division together with Provincial Fisheries Office Laguna conducted their Joint Year End Program cm Retirement Tribute at BFAR 4A, Los Banos, Laguna.

The program highlighted the retirement tribute for Noel L.Alegata, Security Guard I of FPSSD for his 33 years of dedicated service to the Bureau. Ms. Emiliana C. Casbadillo, OIC-FPSSD, Ms. Amparo L. Fang, OIC-FPU and the rest of the staff extended their messages to Mr.Alegata.

Ms.Ligaya Cabrera, OIC Regional Fisheries Laboratory and Ms. Natividad B. Efondo, OIC Fisheries Inspection Unit also extended their greetings to their former workmate in Freshwater Fisheries Research Station.

BFAR 4A conducted the Training on Ulang cm Fish N'Learn last November 15, 2022 at Paete, Laguna. The Biology and Culture of Ulang and Fish N'Learn were discussed by Ms. Virginia D. Panisales of FPSSD and Mr. John Arman H. Engay of RFTFCD, respectively. The training was participated by 25 fisherfolks from different barangays of Paete.

In addition, FPSSD staff Ms. Reynely M. Cardel conducted orientation last November 18, 2022 to the beneficiaries of Catfish (Hito) fingerlings under the Quick Response Fund. She discussed about the Biology, Management and Culture of Hito from stocking up to harvesting period. Thirteen (13) beneficiaries from Victoria, Laguna attended the said orientation.

Another Shellfish training were conducted last November 22, 2022 by the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division at Calauag, Quezon.

FPSSD staff Ms. Reynely M. Cardel lectured the Biology and Culture of Oyster and Mussel. Meanwhile, Mr. John Arman H. Engay of RFTFCD discussed the Fish n’ Learn. Ms. Amparo L. Fang, Regional Focal for Shellfish also gave insights during the training.

Twenty-two (22) participants were from Caridad Ibaba Oyster Farming Association (CIOFA) and LGU-Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. The CIOFA was also the beneficiary of 5 units Shellfish raft as part of Technology Demonstration of BFAR 4A under FPSSD.

The Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division together with Fisheries Production and Support Services Division facilitated the Training on Shellfish Culture at Calauag, Quezon on November 10, 2022.

FPSSD staff Ms. Reynely M. Cardel lectured the Biology and Culture of Oyster while Ms. Marinel A. Punzalan, OIC-PFO Cavite discussed the Biology and Culture of Mussel. The training was attended by 24 participants from San Quintin Multi-Sectoral Organization (SQMO) and FARMC of Calauag, Quezon. The SQMO was also the beneficiary of 5 units Shellfish raft as part of Technology Demonstration of BFAR 4A under FPSSD.

Nagsagawa ng pagsasanay sa ‘Biology and Culture of Tilapia’ at ‘Tilapia Intensive Hatchery’ ang Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division katuwang ang Fisheries Production and Support Services Division ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A. May labing-walong (18) fish farm owners mula sa Laguna (11) at Rizal (7) at kinatawan ng Local Government Unit (LGU) ang lumahok sa naturang pagsasanay. Maliban dito, isang ‘facility tour’ sa Intensive Tilapia Hatchery at mga fish pond ng Kawanihan ang isinagawa para sa mga kalahok.

Ang naturang pagsasanay ay isa sa mga paghahanda ng lokal na pamahalaan tungo sa ‘full implementation’ ng Mandanas-Garcia Ruling. Layunin din nito na mabigyan ng sapat na kaalaman ang mga kalahok na makapagtayo at mapamahalaan ang sarili nilang hatchery, kung saan, ang pagpaparami ng mataas na kalidad na fry at fingerlings ay pangangasiwaan ng lokal na pamahalaan. Sila din ang tutukoy sa mga pagbibigyang benepisyaryo at mamamahala sa pamimigay ng mga maaaning semilya sa kani-kanilang bayan. (atcdelacruz)

‘Ocular Visit’ sa Pangil, Laguna, isinagawa ng BFAR 4A

Binigyang tugon ng Fisheries Production and Support Services Division at Provincial Fisheries Office-Laguna ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A, ang kahilingan ng Asia Pacific Cultural Heritage Development Inc. na magsagawa ng isang ‘ocular visit’ sa Sitio Gisgis, Brgy. Galalan, Pangil, Laguna noong ika-18 ng Nobyembre.

Bilang paunang hakbang, nagsagawa ng pagsusuri sa tubig, klase ng lupa (clay loam) at maaaring mapagkunan ng pakain sa isda na makikita sa paligid lamang.

Ang naganap na ‘ocular visit’ ay bilang paghahanda sa gagawing pagsasanay at pagpapa-unlad sa ‘upland small-scale farmers’ ng Pangil. Maliban dito, layunin din nito na mabigyan ng suportang teknikal at maitaas ang pamumuhay ng lokal na komunidad sa Sitio Gisgis.

Nakiisa din sa naturang aktibidad ang Municipal Agriculture Office ng Pangil, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute at Local Government Unit – Teresa, Rizal. (atcdelacruz)

Pinaunlakan ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A ang kahilingan ng Local Government Unit (LGU) ng Matalam, Cotabato na bigyan ng pagsasanay ukol sa ‘Operation of Intensive Tilapia Hatchery’ at ‘Breeding and Culture of I-Excel Tilapia’ ang sampung (10) kinatawan nito. Maliban dito, nagsagawa din ng ‘facility tour’ sa Intensive Tilapia Hatchery ng kawanihan ang mga kalahok sa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ni Fisheries Production and Support Services Division, OIC, Emiliana C. Casbadillo.

Layunin ng aktibidad na mabigyang kaalaman ang mga kalahok mula LGU-Cotabato ukol sa pamamahala at pagpaparami ng isda para sa kanilang itatayong ‘Freshwater Fish Hatchery’. Ito rin ay upang ihanda ang lokal na pamahalaan sa ‘full implementation’ ng Mandanas-Garcia Ruling kung saan sila ang pagkakatiwalaan upang mamahala sa mga ipinatutupad na proyekto ng National Government. A total of 13,200 pcs. Freshwater Prawn (ulang) Post Larvae were granted by BFAR National Fisheries Development Center (NFDC) in Dagupan, Pangasinan. Several requests of ulang from CALABARZON were consolidated and endorsed to the national center and distributed to the beneficiaries of Laguna and Quezon.

Last October 20-21, 2022, FPSSD staff Aurelio A. Carandang with Provincial Fisheries Office of Batangas conducted site visitation and orientation on Tilapia farming to the fisherfolk beneficiaries of Rosario, Batangas. This was a continuing assistance to the fisherfolk who also attended the training on Breeding and Culture of Tilapia on August 11, 2022.

The division also catered different requests for technical assistance such as providing lectures and hands-on on several aquaculture commodities. Last September 29 to 30, 2022, Emiliana C. Casbadillo, OIC-FPSSD, Domingo L. Torres, Regional Focal for Seaweeds and Rosella C. Lucero, OIC-Sub PFO-Quezon in coordination with Local Government Unit of Pitogo, Quezon and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist conducted the Training on Seaweed Farming and actual Construction of PVC Raft Method with Cage at Brgy. Cabulihan, Pitogo, Quezon.

The seaweeds farmers of Brgy. Cabulihan attended the said activity which was funded by the LGU and requested assistance from the Bureau for technical expertise on seaweed farming.

Moreover, another set of trainings on Freshwater Aquaculture were also conducted by the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division together with Fisheries Production and Support Services Division to several municipalities of Macalelon, Quezon from September 28-October 6, 2022.
This was in response to the request of National Irrigation Administration to provide alternative livelihood to the affected communities of dam construction in Macalelon and also equipped them the knowledge on venturing in Aquaculture.

FPSSD technical staff, Virginia D. Panisales and RFTU-OIC, John Arman H. Engay discussed the Biology and Culture of Tilapia and Catfish to the participants from Brgy. Vista Hermosa, Mambog, Candangal, Taguin, San Isidro, Pajarillo, Tubigan Ilaya, Amontay, San Nicolas, Olongtao Ibaba, San Nicolas, Lahing and P. Herrera.

Last September 15-16, 2022, Fisheries Production and Support Services Division staff Virginia D. Panisales served as resource speaker on the Training of Breeding and Culture of Tilapia and Freshwater Ornamental Fish at Infanta, Quezon together with Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division (RFTFCD), Batangas Inland Fisheries Technology Outreach Station (BIFTOS) and Sub-PFO Real, Quezon.

Another training was facilitated by RFTFCD on September 21-22 at Silang, Cavite. FPSSD technical staff Aurelio A. Carandang and Virginia D. Panisales discussed the Biology and Culture of Freshwater Prawn (Ulang) and Breeding and Grow-out Culture of Tilapia, respectively.

The team composed of Emiliana C. Casbadillo, OIC-FPSSD, Domingo L. Torres, Regional Focal for Seaweeds, Reynely M. Cardel, Alternate Focal for Shellfish and Ernest R. Laureles, Aquaculturist I of PFO-Quezon fielded to the municipalities of Mulanay and Pitogo, Quezon from September 5-7, 2022. This was in response to their request on the site assessment and validation on possible aquaculture investment or projects suitable for their communities.

On September 5-6, courtesy call and meeting were conducted together with Mayor Aristotle L. Aguirre and MA Gracielle R. Decena of Mulanay. The team also visited the possible site for oyster culture in Brgy. Butanyog and seaweeds area in Brgy. Patabog. There was an orientation to the Samahan ng Mangingisda ng Santo Nino on the different aquaculture commodities of BFAR. The organization was also granted 15,000 pcs. of tilapia fingerlings which they stocked in the “Bahay Buwaya” Lake.

The team headed to Pitogo, Quezon for another site validation and assessment. They had a meeting with Mayor Dexter L. Sayat and MA German A. Candido on their proposed mariculture site for bangus.

Lastly, on September 7, the team assessed the the possible mariculture site in Brgy. Sumag Este and the proposed seaweeds area in Brgy. Kabulihan.

MGA SUNDALO NG CAMP CAPINPIN TANAY, RIZAL, SUMAILALIM SA PAGSASANAY TUNGKOL SA PAG-AALAGA NG TILAPIA AT HITO

TANAY RIZAL, Setyembre 15---Idinaos ngayung araw ang pagsasanay tungkol sa pag-aalaga ng tilapia at hito sa palaisdaan sa Camp General Mateo Capinpin sa Tanay,Rizal. Ito ay dinaluhan ng mga sundalong mula sa 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division of Philippine Army na malapit nang magretiro sa kanilang serbisyo at nagnanais magpalaisdaan.

Ang aktibidad na ito ay bilang pagtugon ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A sa kanilang kahilingan na maturuan ng "fundamentals of aquaculture" bilang bahagi narin ng kanilang 3-day Pre-separation and Retirement Planning Workshop.

Ang mga paksang tinalakay ay ang "Breeding and Culture of Excel Tilapia" na ibinahagi ni G. Aurelio A. Carandang at "Grow-out Pond Culture of African Catfish" ni Bb. Reynely M. Cardel na parehong staff ng Fisheries Production and Support Services Division.
Nagbigay din ng maikling mensahe ang OIC,FPSSD na si Bb.Emiliana C. Casbadillo tungkol sa mga assistance na pinagkakaloob ng BFAR kagaya ng libreng semilya ng Tilapia at Hito.

Naging matagumpay ang nasabing pagsasanay sa pakikipagtulungan ng Provincial Fishery Office ng Rizal OIC, G. Brian V. Sison at kanyang mga staff na sila Bb.Michelle R. Guevarra at Bb. Kaye Pauline Margarette Rubi.

Mahigit-kumulang na 50 pirasong Ulang breeders ang kinuha ng BFAR 4A Fisheries Production and Support Services Division (FPSSD) sa Tayabas, Quezon noong Agosto 23, 2022.

Ito ay bilang pagtugon sa paanyaya ni G. Ruperto G. Dela Cruz sa ahensya na saksihan ang pag-aani ng kanyang mga alaga matapos ang walong buwan. Isa si G. Dela Cruz sa naging benepisyaryo ng ulang post larvae na nagmula pa sa BFAR NFDC at sa pakikipagtulungan ng Provincial Fishery Office ng Quezon at Pambayang Agrikultor ng Tayabas.

Sa kasalukuyan ay ineendorso ng BFAR 4A ang lahat mga request ng ulang sa mga National Centers kagaya ng (1) National Freshwater Fisheries Technology Center, Munoz Nueva Ecija, (2) National Fisheries Development Center, Dagupan City, Pangasinan at (3) National Inland Fisheries Technology Center, Tanay, Rizal.

Humiling si Bb. Emiliana C. Casbadillo, OIC-Chief FPSSD na makakuha ng mga “berried” female at “s*xually matured” male upang dalhin sa BFAR station sa Los Banos, Laguna.

Ang mga breeders ay ginamit sa pagsisimula ng hatchery trial ng ulang o freshwater prawn sa istasyon. Ito ay may layuning maumpisahang mgkaroon ng hatchery na pagkukunan ng post larvae upang maipamahagi sa mga mangingisda ng CALABARZON.

Ipagmalaki at ipakita sa buong rehiyon ang inyong mga pambato sa:
• PINAKA-Malaking Huling Ayungin at Biya sa Rizal at Laguna
• PINAKA-Malaking Huling Oyster at Lapu-lapu sa Batangas, Quezon at Cavite
• PINAKA-Malaking Alagang Tilapia at Bangus
• PINAKA-Magandang Fighting Fish

Sama-sama nating ipamalas ang kasaganahan ng ating yamang-tubig at kagandahan ng ating sektor ng pangisdaan ngayong Fish Conservation Week na may temang: ‘Pagkain ng Bansa Sigurahin, Likas-Kayang Produksyon ng Isda Isulong Natin’.

Ang FishCon Week ay ipinagdiriwang taon-taon kada ikatlong lingo ng Setyembre alinsunod sa Proclamation No. 316, s. 2017.

Ang pasahan ng entries ay hanggang ika-16 ng Setyembre lamang. Kaya’t halina at huwag magpahuli sa pagsali sa PINAKA Contest hatid ng BFAR 4A.

Supporting the Fisherfolks: Simultaneous conduct of field activities to four (4) municipalities in Quezon Province from August 11-12, 2022.

BFAR 4A personnel headed by OIC-FPSSD Emiliana C. Casbadillo fielded to the municipalities of General Luna and Pagbilao to award their farm registration certificates after being assessed and qualified by the Farm Registration Technical Working Group.
Benita Aqua Farm of General Luna and Oyster Growers Association of Pagbilao (OGAP) cultured commodities were milkfish and oysters respectively.

Meanwhile, dialogue with several seaweed farmers of San Andres and Buenavista were
facilitated by Seaweed Focal Domingo L. Torres with OIC-Sub PFO Quezon Rosella C. Lucero. The highlight of the discussions were focused on how to assist seaweed growers for profitable livelihood in coordination with their respective Local Government Units.

CALAUAG, Quezon, Marso 23 --- Seaweeds Warehouse Facility at Solar Floating Dryer - - ito ang mga pangkabuhayang ayuda o ‘livelihood assistance’ na ipinamahagi ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A (BFAR 4A) sa Pinagsamang Samahan ng Mangingisda at mga Magsi-seaweeds sa Lainglaingan (PMMSL) ng Brgy. Lainglaingan, Calauag, Quezon.

Ang mga pasilidad na ibinahagi ay magsisilbing bilaran at imbakan para sa mga naaning seaweeds. Ang pamamahagi ay bilang pagtugon din sa mga pangangailangan ng mga seaweed farmers at upang patuloy na mapataas at mapaunlad ang industriya ng seaweeds sa nasabing lalawigan.

Nagkaroon ng pagbabasbas at ribbon cutting para sa mga pasilidad na pinangunahan ng kinatawan ni BFAR 4A Regional Director Sammy A. Malvas na si OIC Rosella C. Lucero ng Sub-Provincial Fisheries Office-Quezon at Punong-Bayan representative Isabel M. Luna, kaagapay sina Regional Seaweeds Coordinator Domingo L. Torres, Punong Barangay Arlita Cabanela at Pangulong Israel G. Cabanela ng PMMSL.

Umaasa ang BFAR 4A, kasama ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon at ng PMMSL, na makakatulong nga ang proyektong ito sa pagsulong ng minimithing pagbangon sa produksyon at industriya ng seaweeds sa lalawigan ng Quezon. (D.B. Macalindong, T.C. dela Cruz)

Mga empleyado ng BFAR 4A, nakilahok sa ‘Betta Fish Pet Bottle Arrangement Contest’

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Hunyo 1 --- Nagpakitang gilas sa pagiging malikhain ang mga empleyado ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A (BFAR 4A) sa ginanap na ‘Betta Fish Pet Bottle Arrangement Contest’ noong ika-1 ng Hunyo.

Bilang panimula, isang oryentasyon sa mga hurado ang ginanap sa mga dapat tandaan sa pagpili ng de-kalidad na Betta fish na hihiranging panalo. Tinalakay din dito ang mga tamang pagbibigay ng puntos sa iba pang batayan sa paghuhusga.

Masigasig na siniyasat at inobserbahan ng mga hurado ang mga Betta fish at bottle arrangements ng walong (8) kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang opisina ng BFAR 4A.

Ang nanguna sa mga nanalo ay ang bottle arrangement at Betta Fish ni Princess Marie Alynagen L. Roque (92.4%) mula sa National Stock Assessment Program, pangalawa – Roudolf Marthin O. Mistica (92.13%) ng Regional Fisheries Information Unit at pangatlo ay si Dr. Marco M. Espiritu (87.3%) ng Regional Fisheries Laboratory Division. Ang pag-aanunsyo ng mga nanalo at paggawad ng premyo ay naging bahagi ng ‘Culminating Activity’ at ‘Awarding of Plaque of Recognition to the Former RFDs’ ng BFAR 4A noong ika-3 ng Hunyo.

Layunin ng patimpalak na ipakita ang isang ‘bottle arrangement’ at ‘background set-up’ na magpapakita ng kagandahan ng betta fish sa loob ng bote. Ang ‘Contest’ ay pinangasiwaan ng Freshwater Demonstration Fish Farm at Batangas Inland Fisheries Technology Outreach Station. Ito ay bilang pakikiisa sa Proclamation No. 962, s. 2005 o ‘Ornamental Fish Week’ at Proclamation No. 57, s. 1999 o ‘Month of the Ocean’ na ipinagdiriwang taon-taon tuwing Mayo. (atcdelacruz)

Namahagi ng 23,094 pirasong crablets ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 4A sa pamumuno ni Regional Director Sammy A. Malvas sa mga mangingisda ng Real at Infanta, Quezon noong Abril 12, 2022 sa Sub-Provincial Fishery Office.

Mahigit 500 pirasong crablets ang naibigay sa bawat isang benepisyaryo ng Real at Infanta na kanilang pakakawalan sa kanilang palaisdaan at palalakihin upang maging dagdag kabuhayan. Ang proyektong ito ay mula sa Typhoon Quinta, Rolly at Ulysses Quick Response Fund na layuning makatulong sa mga mangingisdang nasalanta ng mga nagdaang bagyo.

Pinangunahan nila Emiliana C. Casbadillo, OIC-Chief at Reynely M. Cardel, Aquacultural Technologist ng Fisheries Production and Support Services Division katuwang ang OIC ng Sub-PFO, Rosella C. Lucero, gayundin ang kanyang mga kasamahan na sila Domingo L.Torres, Arwin S. Delos Santos at Evajane M. Villaruel ang pamamahagi ng mga crablets na malugod namang tinanggap ng mga benepisyaryo mula sa Real at Infanta, Quezon.
Katuwang din sa naging aktibidad ang LGU-Fisheries Extension Officer ng Real na si Francia Astejada.
