The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board of Quezon Province recently conducted a 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒗𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 across the province. This initiative aimed to assess the compliance of mining operations with environmental regulations and ensure responsible mining practices. The team inspected several mining sites, examining their adherence to permits, waste management protocols, and safety procedures. The field verification process involved gathering data, conducting interviews with stakeholders, and observing actual mining activities. The results of this comprehensive assessment will be used to inform future regulatory decisions and promote sustainable mining practices in Quezon Province.

To combat illegal transportation and quarrying, the PMRB's technical team and PNP-PSSG Quezon conducted day and night operations in several locations of Quezon province. The hauling and conveyance equipment was taken into custody and placed in various barangay halls.

In view of the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm “Enteng,” classes in public schools and work in government offices in the National Capital Region and Region IV-A are hereby suspended tomorrow, September 3, 2024 (Tuesday).

The suspension of work for private companies, and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

The 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗭𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 (𝗤𝗣𝗠𝗥𝗕) convened with the distinguished presence of Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region IV-A (MGB IV-A) Acting Regional Director Engr. Edgardo D. Castillo. The meeting delved into a range of pressing concerns, encompassing the multifaceted landscape of mining regulation in Quezon province. Commenced with the customary review and approval of the minutes from the previous PMRB session, setting the stage for a comprehensive discussion of pressing mining-related concerns. The agenda encompassed a wide range of topics, likely including environmental impact assessments, compliance with safety regulations, community engagement strategies, and the economic implications of mining activities in Quezon province. The presence of Engr. Castillo provided valuable insights and guidance from the regional perspective, fostering a collaborative dialogue between the PMRB and the MGB IV-A. Engr. Rommel Sarmiento and board members, representing diverse stakeholders, engaged in a thorough exchange of ideas, aiming to find solutions that balance the province's development aspirations with the preservation of its natural resources and the well-being of its communities.

“𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧”

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. IV-A has recently deputized the Mining Enforcement Officers of the Provincial Government of Quezon during its orientation of deputation training and seminar on R.A. No. 7942, R.A. 7076, and DAO 2010-21 on August 29, 2024, at the Governor’s Annex Building Capitol Compound, Lucena City.

A total of 25 participants composed of Quezon Provincial Mining Regulatory Board personnel, municipal officers (MENRO), barangay captains, and Quezon PNP personnel participated in the said training and seminar following the seminar, all participants received an Order of Deputation and identification cards, valid for two(2) years from the date of issuance Special Order as Mining Enforcement Officers.

The seminar aimed to strengthen the implementation of mining and environmental laws, particularly in curbing illegal extractive activities within the province. The seminar covered crucial topics including an introduction to mining, Philippine mining laws, permits and contracts, prohibited acts and penalties, and procedures for apprehending offenders and seizing illegally sourced materials. This comprehensive seminar equipped participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively enforce regulations and protect Quezon's natural resources for future generations.

Banahaw in Sariaya, Quezon.

This campaign aims to educate the public, industry stakeholders, and local communities about the PMRB's role in regulating mining activities, ensuring environmental protection, and promoting sustainable development. Through various mediums, including workshops, seminars, online platforms, and community outreach programs, the PMRB will disseminate information on mining regulations, environmental best practices, and the rights and responsibilities of all stakeholders. This comprehensive campaign seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the mining industry and its impact on the province, promoting collaboration and responsible resource management for the benefit of all.

The PMRB Technical Staff actively participated in the 5th National Assembly of the National Coalition of Small-Scale Miners in the Philippines, held under the theme "Ginto ng bayan para sa bayan: Pagbabagong Batas at Programa sa Maliitang Pagmimina Isakatuparan”. RD Guillermo Molina Jr., MGB-Region V Regional Director, led the delegation, demonstrating the agency's commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the small-scale mining sector. This assembly provided a valuable platform for engaging with stakeholders in the small-scale mining sector, fostering dialogue on crucial issues, and promoting responsible and sustainable mining practices.
