Use a toothbrush with a small head - The brush should cover and scrub two teeth at once. And a small head will allow easier maneuvering around the mouth and clean the hard to reach areas better.

Get a brush with soft bristles - Soft or extra soft bristles are gentler in brushing the teeth, compared to medium or hard ones that can cause damage to the teeth and gums.

Do circular brushing motion - Gentle circular brushing motion is effective to remove plaque and debris on teeth, and creates a massaging effect simulating the scalloped shape of the gums.

Change your brush regularly - Change your brush once the bristles get worn out, because this won’t clean effectively and might hurt your gums.
