Responsibility, loyalty, a desire to make a positive difference, deep compassion and commitment, all of these are admirable leadership qualities. But when these desires and qualities are divorced from trust in God, they eventually become self-serving. Edging God out, we become controlling, frustrated, disengaged, impatient, and self-protective. When bad news comes your way, where do you turn? Hezekiah immediately turned to prayer when he was threatened. But he didn’t just pray for help. Hezekiah began and ended his prayer by remembering who God was. He exalted God, praising Him, honoring Him as greater than any threat he faced. Lead Like Jesus SEA and ANZ team would like to thank Trinity Methodist Church Kuching for their generosity and hospitality. Thank you for having us during our day 1 and 2 events. Your community made our delegation feel welcomed.

We worshipped today at their 10am English worship and meditated on Isaiah 40:31 soaring like eagles 🦅 The message inspired us to soldier on with the movement despite adversities.

We just concluded our 3rd Lead Like Jesus SEA (Southeast Asia and ANZ) Summit this June 27-30 at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

We have 6 countries represented with 21 delegates (Singapore 🇸🇬, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Vietnam 🇻🇳, Philippines 🇵🇭, Malaysia 🇲🇾(East & West) and for the first time, Australia 🇦🇺). We miss Japan🇯🇵and New Zealand 🇳🇿 but we look forward to having them soon in future summits.

The summit was kicked off by The Way of the Carpenter workshop on day 1, June 27 with 50 participants (SEA delegates + locals) followed by an accreditation orientation and an LLJ ministry presentation event on day 2, June 28 for Christian (Evangelicals and Catholics) leaders.

For almost 10 years now Lead Like Jesus is a thriving in Sarawak because of the faithfulness of Sister Mee Ting Lau and Rev. Dr. Lau Hui Ming, president of the Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (SCAC) Methodist Church. Hee Piang Chin was instrumental in bringing LLJ to Sarawak, she trained 93 facilitators.

On day 2, we presented Lead Like Jesus to Kuching Archbishop Simon Poh, recently appointed as the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Malaysia (CBCM).

He went viral for his humble and servant-leader demeanor. Despite finding himself in a potentially hostile and dangerous atmosphere following the local Federal Court's decision on apostasy, Poh remained unfazed and smiling throughout the announcement. The venue for the summit is Trinity Methodist Church Kuching.

There are many stories of impact and transformations shared by SEA and local delegates that are not captured by this post but we praise God for every single one of them.

We are also grateful for the Girls Brigade Kuching crew (Cindy Chow, Julita Chen, Lau Sie Bing and Laura Dines Ngau) for their invaluable support during the summit.

The early disciples lived in light of the day when Jesus would return. His incarnation, His death and resurrection had inaugurated a new day. They knew Jesus would return as He promised. This is why in the midst of great opposition and persecution, the apostles urged the early church to rejoice. This is why grace and peace and joy were present realities for them. Jesus had come, Jesus was with them, they were in Him and He in them, and He was coming back again. Is this truth a reality for you today? Live in such a way that your life reveals His living presence. Live in light of His soon return.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.— Philippians 4:4-5

Prayer: Jesus, set our focus on You. May we live today in light of Your return, reflecting our confidence in You as we interact with others. We pray in Your name, amen.

Embarking on a journey led by God can be perplexing for many Christians. The uncertainty of the path ahead can make it challenging to discern His guidance from our own desires. However, it's intriguing to consider that God may lead us through parables to test our faithfulness and reveal His will at the end of the journey. This requires hearts firmly rooted in God and reliance on His sovereignty.

As Charles Spurgeon said, “The sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which the Christian rests his head.” We cannot fully comprehend God’s ways, as the Bible illustrates the vast difference between human understanding and God’s wisdom. Ecclesiastes 3:11 states, “He has set the right time for everything. He has given us the desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does” (GNB). This teaches us to trust in God's perfect timing.

During uncertainty, God may remain silent or reveal just enough for one step, sustaining our joy and hope. Those who draw from His word and the Holy Spirit's guidance can continue on the journey. Habakkuk 2:1-3 reminds us that God’s answers come at the appointed time and will surely come to pass.

Paul’s second missionary journey included times of effective ministry as well as an extended period of lack of progress (at least in the direction Paul wanted to go). Traveling from place to place, Paul and his associates were twice stopped from fulfilling their plans. Eager to accomplish their goals, once God gave them a new vision, they moved forward at once.
