Zamboanga del Norte and TPB Ink MICE Tourism support

(Zamboanga del Norte) The Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines and the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte entered into an agreement to support Meetings, Incentives, Convention, Exhibits / Events (MICE) industry players in the province through a training-workshop on November 28-30, 2023.

With the emergence of MICE as a segment in tourism, MICE has now become a growing part of Zamboanga del Norte’s tourism industry that can greatly improve the province’s reputation and foster several economic and investment activities in addition to creating more job opportunities for its populace.

The project, MICE 101 and 102 workshops will be funded by TPB under its MICE Department-Corporate Operating Budget 2023 – Philippine MICE Cities, with the total amount of Php. 1.2M. The MICE workshop is composed of two segments which include Introduction to Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions/Events, and Strategic Event Planning, both aimed to prepare tourism business with MICE facilities and the tourism workforce to familiarize the MICE Industry and to develop each potential site into a MICE destination. This will also tap local tourism stakeholders to be active MICE organizers and service providers, improve competitiveness in the MICE industry by offering quality standards to several MICE destinations and develop the MICE destination in line with the MICE Tourism Roadmap and ASEAN MICE Standard.

The project is consistent with the thrust of TPB’s Partnership as Pathways strategy, where stronger collaboration will be forged with partners from the national government, local government units (LGUs), and the private sector, leveraging on their collective strengths to promote and market the Philippines. In the same manner, the current administration of Zamboanga del Norte focus on tourism development.

As the province braces for the continued gains of the recent Foreign Armed Forces Attaches visit to the province specifically in the City of Dapitan, this initiative is also considered as preparation of the province for big ticket events and major conventions that will open the interests of domestic and international markets to choose Zamboanga del Norte as the venue of their next meetings, incentive travels, conventions, events /exhibits.

Governor Rosalina “Nanay Nene” G. Jalosjos is extremely grateful for the support of the Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines through its dynamic leader, Chief Operating Office Margarita “Marga” Montemayor Nograles and DOT Secretary Christina Christina Garcia Frasco saying that this is the first time for Zamboanga del Norte to receive a huge grant and which will boost the tourism initiatives of the province.

This initiative of the Provincial Governor is also supported by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as commitment to upgrade tourism services and facilities including the improvement of facilities and services with the aim to tap potential tourism development boosters such as MICE tourism.
