: Last May 13, 16 aspiring entrepreneurs from Capiz, Iloilo, Davao, and Bulacan commenced their bakery training at the La Filipina World Kitchen in Iloilo City. This marks the first milestone of La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies and Gawad Kalinga’s landmark partnership for building a movement of youth-led sustainable enterprises across the country. In the next three months, the students will be the first to undergo an intensive training and apprenticeship program that will equip them with the tools to own and manage their own bakeries. Together with these young dreamers, LaFil and Gawad Kalinga aim to build 1,000 community-based bakeries, owned and managed by young Filipino entrepreneurs.
The Project 1 Thousand Bakeries program launch, coinciding with the first day of baking training, was graced with the presence of leaders from La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies, including Head of Marketing Angelie Macatual, Tech Sales Representative Olive Vigilla, and Sales Vice President Ale Paez; as well as leaders and representatives from Gawad Kalinga and the GK Western Visayas team, such as GK Head of Programs Mark Lawrence Cruz, GK Iloilo Head Rose Cacho, and area team leaders and officers from Western Visayas. Throughout the event, one sentiment rose above the rest: that institutions and people must have big and deep dreams for the youth, in turn empowering the youth to pursue dreams of their own. When esteemed corporations like La Filipina Uy Gongco invest in the dreams of the youth, a new world of opportunities and possibilities open up for their futures. As Gawad Kalinga, LFU, and the young pioneers come together for Project 1 Thousand Bakeries, we are incredibly excited about what’s to come!

: Gawad Kalinga is excited to announce a new partnership with the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Council (RAFC) and One Caraga Inc. This agreement was signed on May 31 at the Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City.
This partnership aims to improve food distribution programs to help farmers, fisherfolk, and their families. By teaming up with RAFC-Caraga, we are committed to fighting hunger and providing essential support to those who need it most.
In addition to food support, our collaboration with One Caraga Inc. will offer cleft lip and palate surgeries for farmers and fisherfolk. This initiative supports One Caraga Inc.'s goal of achieving "Zero Cleft" by 2050, ensuring that those in need receive proper medical care.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from Gawad Kalinga, One Caraga Inc., and various leaders from the Agricultural and Fisheries Council, 4H Club, Young Farmers Club, and the Regional Management Committee.

Hey foodies and change-makers!
We've cooked up something special at Kusina ng Kalinga+. To keep serving the best nutritious meals, our price per meal is now Php 50.00/kid/day (from Php 30.00). Because a little extra goes a long way in nourishing our future! The price increase will cover the increase in prices of commodities (i.e. food items such as meat, vegetables, rice and non-food items such as LPG) which has been rising due to inflation.
KnK+ believes that our collective caring and sharing is the key to ending hunger in our lifetime. Let's work together to fill plates and hearts!

Maayong pag-abot sa SEED Davao!
Despite the summer heat, these young agri-leaders are learning to farm for the future! 👩🌾🌱
Our SEED campus in Davao is busy once again with its second batch of students, nurturing 37 scholars from the diverse provinces of Maguindanao, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Butuan, General Santos City, and North Cotabato! In the next three months, they will be undergoing the SEED 3-Month Program, where they will study technical skills in agriculture, alongside key lessons on entrepreneurship, leadership, communication, and community organizing.
During one of our weekly solidarity assemblies, a SEED Davao student asked — “Is there a place for us in Gawad Kalinga or SEED after this program?” Our mentors’ answer? Success happens when opportunity meets readiness. The opportunities to achieve growth and success are boundless, both within Gawad Kalinga and beyond, but in these coming months, our young scholars must nurture the seeds of hope planted within them and make the most out of this transformative journey.
Padayon, SEED Davao! 🇵🇭🌱
