Through the Food Assistance for Assets programme supported by the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines 在フィリピン日本国大使館 and in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform - BARMM and the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy - BARMM, community members established vegetable gardens, nurseries, and planted fruit and non-fruit bearing trees to create a more resilient and food secure community. 💪🏽✨
More schoolchildren and farmers to benefit from school meals in ! 🌾🍲
WFP, joined by the Bangsamoro Food Security Task Force, launched the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. This programme will provide healthy and nutritious meals to schoolchildren in nine schools across seven municipalities. 🍽
Through the generous support of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines 在フィリピン日本国大使館 and the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia, the programme will also support smallholder farmers by promoting local procurement of food items for the school meals. Additionally, WFP's iron-fortified rice will be incorporated into the school menu to further improve the nutritional quality of the meals. ✨🍽

WFP trucks are on the way! 🚚🚚
WFP is mobilizing 18 trucks from Pasay to DSWD's field offices in Koronadal and Zamboanga City to reach people affected by the severe flooding in Mindanao.
Thanks to USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance support, the trucks will transport 30,000 family food packs - enough to supply families with food for at least three days.

Happening now 🔴: Fortified rice distribution in Piagapo, Lanao del Sur. 🍚
5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ community partners from Piagapo, Lanao del Sur are currently receiving the first round of food assistance equivalent to 60 kg of fortified rice.
Under the Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) Program, community partners worked on the establishment of communal vegetable gardens 🌱, reforestation of timberland areas 🌳, small farm reservoirs 🌊 to address irrigation needs of communal gardens, post-harvest drying beds, and other assets to create self-reliant, food-secure, and resilient communities. 💪🏽✨
The FFA Program is part of the convergence activities implemented by the Bangsamoro Food Security Task Force (BFSTF). The BFSTF and local government units (LGUs) co-finance implementing the community-level activities.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform - BARMM (MAFAR), the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy - BARMM (MENRE), the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist - PLGU Lanao Del Sur, the municipal, and barangay LGUs have provided seeds, seedlings, organic fertilizers, and other farm inputs. 👩🏽🌾
The Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) has been closely involved in the validation of community partners and monitoring the asset building activities. ⚒
