This is a case study of how X Manufacturing Company prospered during the outbreak when other businesses were forced to shut down and workers were forced to take a break from their jobs.

In 2020, we witnessed how Human Resource personnel and management teams in the Industrial Sector had to make tough decisions because of COVID-19.

Some manufacturing companies had to close down their facilities, reduce their workforce, and work on a skeletal schedule.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in one of their articles, vaccines are still short in supply and the priority of the roll-out are those high-risk population groups. These include health workers and the people who are most at risk a serious outcome.

The Diagram below illustrates the process of how testing is done in a manufacturing set-up and what will actually happen after the result.

If a worker tests positive for COVID and is asymptomatic or has a mild case, he will be taken to either a home isolation or private isolation facility for 14 days or until fully recovered.

A worker with a positive test result but has a moderate to severe case must be sent directly to the hospital for proper treatment. The worker can rejoin the workforce once fully recovered and tested negative.

In case of a non-positive test result, the worker will continue to work as normal while following the preventive measures.

However, in the factory setting, the risk of getting infected again is very high.

That’s why more and more manufacturing companies are investing in private isolation facilities to curb the spread of the virus and lessen the exposure of workers to risks brought about by social interaction.
