12.13.2022. I VSO Conducts Ocular Visit in BuCor and Consultation with PDL Stakeholders

Earlier this day, Dir. Fernando Besiño, with other VSO Staff, visited the New Bilibid Prisons, Bureau of Corrections, Muntinlupa City in preparation for the Special Satellite Registration for the Persons Deprived of Liberty Sector.

Aside from the ocular visit, the VSO also met various stakeholders under the PDL Sector for unified rules in the conduct of voter registration in jail facilities. Detainees who are yet to receive their final judgement, are qualified to register as voters as provided under Republic Act 8189 and COMELEC Resolution 10868.

This visit and meeting is in line with the COMELEC's campaign of inclusivity in the electoral process.

12.22.2022 I Stakeholders' Meeting with PWD and SC Sector for the Resumption of Voters' Registration

Yesterday, the VSO conducted a stakeholders' meeting with various government agencies and non-government organizations to solicit suggestions and commitments in information dissemination and in making the voter registration experience of the PWD and SC sectors better.

The morning session was joined by DILG, NCDA, PDAO - Quezon City and DSWD. In the afternoon, representatives from LENTE, ULAN, DANP, PFD, COSE, NAPC - SC, PACDLD and Sign Language Interpreters Aimee Adiwang and Kaziah Miroy.

Dir. Fernando Besiño, VSO Head, presented the goals and plans of the office.

12.1.2022 | The Vulnerable Sectors Office attends the Focus Group Discussion on Voter Registration spearheaded by Commissioner Nelson J. Celis. The FGD is geared by the theme "Pagtutulungan sa Makabagong Halalan."

This FGD is attended by several stakeholders and concerned COMELEC departments in implementing the Voter Registration process.

Atty. Fernando C. Besiño, Head, Vulnerable Sectors Office, presents the existing laws for Vulnerable Sectors' voting and proposes to simplify the voter registration form to be more friendly for the vulnerable sectors.

ATM: COMELEC-VSO meeting with LENTE on various matters:

1. Post 2022 NLE Observations;
2. Intensification of vulnerable sector voting centers and polling places;
3. Policies for improvement of vulnerable sector voters' voting experience; and
4. Voter Registration.

PWDs, senior citizens and pregnant applicants will be accommodated via express lane, in COMELEC offices or in satellite registration sites.

Precinct Finder Online Facility for the May 9, 2022 National and Local Election is now available xfor public use via the official COMELEC website.

Sir Lito Ladra of ECAD gave an orientation this afternoon to VSO Staff regarding Local Absentee Voting.

The COMELEC Vulnerable Sectors Office will hold a Virtual Training for Support Staff in preparation for the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections on the following schedules:

April 11, 2022, from 9am to 12 nn - EAPP / S-EAPP

April 12, 2022, from 9am to 12 nn - SPP IP

April 12, 2022, from 2pm to 3:30pm - SPP PDL
