According to the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd Edition, 80% of US adults do not meet the guidelines for aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity.
The most recent guidelines were released in 2018 and currently recommend that US adults achieve at least 150 minutes of aerobic activity and at least 2 days of muscle-strengthening activity each week. However, the more you move your body throughout the week, the better!
The 2018 guidelines now state that: "Adults should move more and sit less throughout the day. Some physical activity is better than none. Adults who sit less and do any amount of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity gain
some health benefits."
As National Physical Fitness and Sports Month comes to a close, keep in mind that any physical activity that can be performed throughout the day is better than none at all, and the more your move your body the more of an impact it can have on your health!
