📚 Trivia Thursday 📚

Did you know?

During the 17th century, scientists often shared their research findings by writing letters to their colleagues instead of publishing formal research papers. These letters frequently circulated among scientific circles and significantly promoted the exchange of knowledge and ideas during that era. One famous example is the extensive communications among Isaac Newton and his contemporaries, during which he presented his groundbreaking theories on optics, calculus, and gravitation.

The informal mode of communication has played an important part in shaping the peer review process we have today. It emphasizes the significance of collaboration and sharing among scientists.

Effective note-taking is absolutely essential for students and researchers! 📝It's a skill that can make a world of difference in our academic journeys. Let us share a quick tip with you all on taking effective notes.

Apply the Cornell Note-Taking System:
The Cornell Note-Taking System is a structured way to help you order your notes so you can understand and remember them better. How does it work?🧐

1️⃣Divide Your Page: Draw a 2.5-inch vertical line from the left edge of your paper. This makes two columns. The right side has a broader column (the remaining space) than the left side (2.5 inches).
2️⃣Take Notes in the Right Column: Write down essential points, main concepts, and important information in the right column while lectures or reading. Shorten your notes with abbreviations and symbols to save time.
3️⃣Use the Left Column for Cues: Write clues or queries about the right column's material in the narrower left column. Brief reminders to revisit your notes later.
4️⃣Create a Summary at the Bottom: After finishing your notes on a section or topic, make a brief summary at the bottom. You should summarize the important points in your own words.
5️⃣Review and Reflect: Cover the right column (specific notes) and utilize the left column cues to quiz yourself or refresh your memory to study or prepare for tests. Evaluate the complete notes to verify your knowledge.
