The Scandinavian style one-bedroom with loft - Pasimio Residence in Tuscany Private Estate in McKinley Hill is a design to rekindle the resident's experience of the timeless beauty and scenery of Europe. It is also an approach to highlight the artistic heritage influences of Tuscany's "Cities of Art" - Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Pienza, Pisa, and Lucca.

The 67 square meters space was redesigned to create a canvas that will showcase the art pieces that the resident has collected throughout her travels abroad. Highlighted by the natural light during the day and track lights during the night, these art pieces will come alive and bring nostalgic memories to the space.

By minimizing interior impervious partitions, the residence now allows more natural light to pass through the whole unit. Together with the introduction of space-saving cabinetry and the proper layout of furniture, it created an environment that breaths for all endeavors. It is a place where family and friends can revel in the languor of tranquil days, the warm nights, and the lushness of nature's splendor.

Located in Las Piñas, Philippines, the Rafa Residence is a creative approach in developing a 9.60 square meters plot of land inside a subdivided family property.

The concept of the residence is to create a comfortable space using modular solutions and by minimizing visual clutter through modern minimalist design. It is characterized by simplicity, clean lines, and a monochromatic palette accented by wood and stone materials.

Designed and zoned by function, the areas are clustered based on frequency of use, time spent in the area, and relationship of space. Placing the dining area and the kitchen at the ground level, eliminates the ascension of grocery goods. It also allows the user to have a receiving area where they can accommodate their visitors with drinks and snacks. On the other hand, integrating the living area and sleeping area allows the users to have a space where they can relax by watching movies or simply resting in their bed.

The residence boasts on its utilization of resources by simply placing and orienting windows that will maximize natural ventilation and light. It also has multiple modular carpentry from operable kitchen with multifunction drawers & cabinets and bed headboard integrated cabinetry design, indeed a ‘Form Follows Function’ type of solution.

Despite its importance, education is largely inaccessible to various disadvantaged communities in both urban and rural areas around the world. The pandemic raging currently has come with its own set of challenges when it comes to learning or working distantly.

In this year’s Tiny Library Design Competition, we are proud to announce that we are part of the TOP 50 designs all over the world with our proposal called EDEN.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority in 2018, about 16.6% of Filipinos lived in poverty which translates to 17.6 million of the total Philippine population. For these Filipinos, only 60% of their family members were able to have an elementary education. Highlighted by this plight, Happyland in Tondo is one of the poorest communities in the country’s capital of Manila. Contrary to its name, Happyland is far from a paradise. Men, women, and children work scavenging for garbage to earn a few pesos and trying to survive on an average budget of $1.25 per day. Based on the recent study of US National Institutes of Health, the stress of poverty leads to an impaired learning ability from impoverished backgrounds.

The concept of Eden is to create a community library for Happyland that will be like the biblical garden of Eden that has a tree of knowledge and the tree of life. Indigent people will have an opportunity to learn and develop their knowledge without prejudice. As we equip these people with knowledge, they will be able to have a future and create their own opportunity, an opportunity to have a good life.

Lack of education is a major reason for generational poverty. As we bring an educational facility near these impoverished areas, we can improve the overall life of the people living in these communities. It will promote financial growth by providing skills to increase employment opportunities. Millions of indigent families will be lifted from generational poverty.

Out of the 131 competition participants from all over the world, we are proud to announce that we are part of the TOP 20 designs in this year's "PLAY: Interactive Kids Furniture" Design Competition. Here's our design proposal - KRAFT.

Bringing together from one kid's imagination to another kid's ambition, Kraft is a well diverse cognitive furniture design that considers the significance of a child's development and creative act. It engages the child’s growing years by harnessing the urge to explore and interact with their surroundings. Like popsicle sticks, this is a fundamental accessory known to inspire such creativity and learning that benefited the conceptual design idea. Kraft is your contemporary supplement to your child's character development.

Located in Barangay Marilag (which means beautiful), Project 4, Quezon City, the Mercado Residence is an adaptive solution and climatic response to the narrow and irregular plot of land in urban residential areas. Facing southwest, the façade was treated with long operable paneled horizontal brise soleil to minimize the solar gain during the hot season. To further respond with the climate in the area, perforated ceramic fence was introduced to become a thermal barrier together with the landscape at the front of the property. The operability of the brise soleil and the perforated treatment of the fence allows the natural light and ventilation to pass through while limiting its negative impact to the users. Using white as the predominant color tone minimizes the absorption of visible light which leads to the enhancement of thermal comfort within the house. To make sure that the natural breeze and therapeutic sunlight from the northeast monsoon and the morning sun are maximized, light and ventilation wells were placed at the north and east side of the house.

Having a narrow and small space could be quite suffocating to some people. By minimizing the treatment to the interiors, the residence’s interiors provide an uncluttered visual view that is relaxing and pleasing to the eyes. Open space plans together with large window openings permits natural light and ventilation to pass through. The scenic views from the large windows creates an ambiance of serenity by highlighting the greeneries placed within the property.

Zen architecture cherishes simplicity and straightforwardness, and these architectural solutions intend to create a zenic environment that focuses on alleviating stress and anxiety - an ideal place for people who wants to enjoy their retirement.
