JUST IN | BEDAN TRACKSTER BAGS SILVER FOR PHILIPPINES IN ASEAN UNIVERSITY TILT

David Matibag, a student-athlete from the San Beda University Track And Field Team - Tracksters". , secured a silver medal for the Philippines in the men's 800 meters with a personal best of 1:51.25 at the ASEAN University Games in Indonesia, today.

Before this victory, Matibag was a National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Season 99 champion, winning gold in the 800 meters and silver in the 1500 meters.

We are proud to announce that our esteemed teammate, David Matibag, will be representing the Philippines at the ASEAN University Games, which will be held from July 1-6 in Indonesia. 🦁🏁🇵🇭

David Matibag is a middle-distance runner specializing in the 800-meter run. He is currently studying under the course of Sports Science and Management.

Before this, David Matibag has already demonstrated his talent by emerging as the winner in competitions such as the Philippine National Games, the Philippine National Open, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

🦁𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐂𝐀𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬🏁

The San Beda Red Tracksters defied adversity and delivered a roaring performance at the recently concluded NCAA Season 99 Athletic Championships held June 6-8 at the Philsports Complex in Pasig. Overcoming various challenges, the team's unwavering spirit and collaborative drive fueled their success.

Individually, Patrick Catapang launched himself to a bronze medal in javelin throw. David Matibag, a standout athlete, blazed to gold in the 800 meters and shattered records with a silver medal in the 1500 meters. Jimmy P. Bas added to the medal haul with a bronze in the grueling 3000-meter steeplechase. The 4x400 meter relay team, a well-oiled machine of Joemar Castillo, Eagle Bicera, Jimmy Bas, and David Matibag, displayed impressive teamwork to clinch bronze.

The Juniors division was another victory lap for San Beda. MJ Lora soared to gold in high jump and snatched bronze in long jump. Marc Jun Mercedes dominated the throwing events, bagging double gold in both shot put and discus throw. Aljay Raz secured silver in triple jump, with Kenjie Margarito following closely behind with bronze in the same event. The Juniors' relay teams also impressed: the 4x400 meter team of Cedric Alcoriza, Almer B. Robles, Aljay Raz, and Kenjie Margarito snagged bronze, while the 4x100 meter team of Clark Kirby Aquino, Aljay Raz, Kenjie Margarito, and MJ Lora sprinted to silver.

The San Beda Red Tracksters finished the season with a triumphant medal tally: 🥇4 golds, 🥈3 silvers, and 🥉7 bronzes. This achievement stands as a true testament to the dedication and resilience of the entire San Beda community.

The team extends its heartfelt gratitude to the San Beda University Management Team for their unwavering support and leadership. The tireless efforts of coaches Giovanni Andaya, Henry Chaneco, Albert Ubando, and Aldrin Custodio in training and mentoring the athletes were instrumental in their peak performance. San Beda also recognizes the generosity of their sponsors, whose support provided the necessary equipment and resources to compete at the highest level.

Through a season of twists and turns, the San Beda Red Tracksters persevered and emerged victorious. With this impressive showing, the Red Tracksters look to the future, primed to continue their winning tradition.

JUST IN | Philippine Sports Complex Pasig, Manila 🏁

The San Beda Red Trackers excelled at the recent Philippine National Games in Pasig, Manila from December 17th to 23rd, representing Mandaluyong City.

David Paul Matibag achieved two gold medals running in 800 meter run with a time of 1:54:91, the 4x400m mixed relay, as well as a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay, all elite category. 🥇🥇🥉

Jimmy P. Bas set a new personal record in the 3000m steeplechase and contributed to the bronze medal in the 4x400m relay alongside Matibag, Aldrin Custudio of NU, and Arturo Ocaña of RTU. 🥉

Patrick Bilches achieved a new personal best in the long jump with a leap of 7:20 meters long.

John Rey Cano secured a gold medal in the 4x400m relay men under-20 category with teammates from other schools. 🥇

Congratulations to the San Beda Red Trackers for their outstanding performance at the Philippine National Games! Their dedication and talent brought pride and inspired future generations of athletes. We eagerly anticipate their continued success in the future!
