The PLM DOST Scholars' Association has been declared “CLEARED” on its audit report for A.Y. 2023-2024, highlighting the organization’s dedication to exhibiting full financial responsibility. The exit meeting between PLM DOST-SA’s executive officers and the PLM Student Commission on Audit, together with other university organizations, was held last June 10-15, 2024.

Geysers are openings commonly found on the Earth's surface that intermittently release jets of hot water and steam into the air. As for Enceladus’ interesting case, these are classified as “cold geysers” that could offer a suitable environment for living organisms.

MOREtivation Monday is back with another herstory! 💪👩‍🦰 Introducing Estefania “Fanny” Aldaba-Lim, the first Filipino clinical psychologist who spent most of her lifetime bettering the lives and mental health of women and children. 🧠🎀

After earning her master’s in psychology from University of the Philippines (UP) in 1939, she pursued her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan in 1942. There, she encountered women and children who suffered from violence, untreated mental illness, poverty, and abuse, as a result of World War II.

Not only did she develop an interest in improving the psychological health of children impacted by the war, but she also made it her life-long mission to research on and support ✨child development, mental health, responsible parenthood, and women’s rights.✨

Driven by her devotion to children welfare, she soon entered public service and was able to educate millions of Filipinos about reproductive health and effective parenting, also making her the first woman to become a cabinet member of the country. 🌷🩷

Dr. Banzon is well-known in the field of chemistry for his notable researches on the Philippine coconut and other indigenous materials as "renewable sources of chemicals and fuels." Planet Biyo, also known as Planet 13241, orbits the Sun at an inclination of 7.30417 degrees and a mean anomaly of 285.18521 degrees. It completes one rotation at a rate of 0.28758689 degrees per day, roughly every 3.43 years. It has been spotted 549 times since it was discovered in 1975. It was last observed on November 17, 2009, and was located at a distance of 2.397 AU, or 35,858,609 kilometers, from the sun and 1.979 AU, or 29,605,418 kilometers, from Earth.

The minor planet is named Biyo after Dr. Josette Biyo, who won the Intel Excellence in Teaching Award during the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2002.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗱!🦅 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲!✈️ 𝗡𝗼, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿! 🤺🌿

Today, let us introduce former professor at University of the Philippines and marine scientist Galvino C. Trono. He has devoted 47 years of studying and utilizing the Philippines’ abundant seaweed resources through sustainable farming practices and equitable economic opportunities, particularly for underserved coastal communities.

His enthusiasm for seaweed species and helping his countrymen paved the way for receiving various recognitions in the country. In 2014, he was honored by the title of National Scientist, the highest honor given to Filipino scientists, by former president Benigno Aquino III.

According to Trono, seaweed farming, as an alternative livelihood for fishermen, is “the most economically productive and environment-friendly” means of earning a living in coastal communities.

Once again, may we remember the contributions of our seaweed warrior in town, Mr. Galvino C. Trono! ⚔️

Ang DOST-SEI ay patuloy na nakikiisa sa mahalagang pagdiriwang ng araw na ito at patuloy na naniniwala sa kakayanan at galing ng mga Pilipino.
