The Health Emergency Management Bureau is elated to present to you the Compendium of Risk Communication Messages for Public Health Emergency in the Philippines. It was conceived and developed during the COVID-19 Pandemic when there was a heightened concern about the need for information while misinformation and disinformation emerged. This compendium is informed by the World Health Organization’s Classification of Hazards included in the Strategic Toolkit for Assessing Risks issued in 2021 and serves as supplemental to the 2nd edition Key Health Messages for Emergencies and Disasters published in 2013.
The material highlights the importance of clear risk communication in public health emergencies. It emphasizes the need to balance informing and influencing the public to reduce fear and build disaster preparedness. It references existing resources and aims to improve communication for the policy and decision makers; program managers and field implementors; and other stakeholders which can ultimately create a more informed, engaged, and empowered population.
Moreover, this valuable material will serve as a critical guide for every Filipino on what to do before (preparedness), during (response), and after (rehabilitation and recovery) any public health emergency alongside providing clear instructions on first aid measures. It is designed to serve as a quick reference in packaging risk communication messages and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H).

Happy National Health Workers' Day! 👩⚕️👨⚕️
The Department of Health (DOH) is elated and sincerely thankful for the trust and confidence of our people in its performance for the first quarter of 2024.
In a noncommissioned nationwide survey conducted by OCTAResearch last March 11-14 (with 1,200 adult respondents and a margin of error of +/- 3%), most adult Filipinos highly trust five national government agencies. DOH is tied at the top 2 spot with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, coming in after the Department of Education. The same survey found that 80% of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of the DOH.
"We are simply following the wise leadership of President Marcos, who has made health a top priority. Our work continues - tunay na sa administrasyong ito, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga!" added Secretary Herbosa.

The Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) in collaboration with the World Health Organization Philippines (WHO) and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) conducted the first comprehensive simulation exercises with Sitio Kaunlaran of Valenzuela City last March 25, 2024.
This initiative is aligned with the One Health Agenda which focuses on coordinated strategies, mechanisms, and joint public health emergency preparedness and response. Moreover, this further supports of the Eight-Point Action Agenda.
