UPDATE :

The Lyceum of the Philippines University management has already released an official advisory regarding the rebates on tuition fee increase. According to the said advisory, 70% rebate will apply to laboratory, off-site PE facilities and the like whereas20% rebate will apply to miscellaneous fees excluding LMS and Athletics Fees. Scholars will also continue to enjoy their scholarship privileges until the following semester AY 2020-2021.

On the other hand, it is with great honor that LYCESGO announces the approval of the 0% tuition & miscellanous fees increase for the next school year. In this regard, we would like to thank every single student who fought with us in championing accessible education for every Lycean. We would also like to thank the LPU administration for heeding our call.

Nevertheless, our fight is far from over. LYCESGO still STANDS FIRM to demand mass promotion for ALL enrolled students in the current semester. With this, we would like to request for your continued support so that our voices maybe heard. In order for quality education to take place, equity must first be achieved. Mass Promotion is the only equitable answer to our current problems. Mass Promotion is the only way to ensure that No Lycean will be left behind.

Defending press freedom must be undertaken not only on a national scale, but also by the struggling campus press.

STATEMENT OF THE LPU INDEPENDENT SENTINEL ON THE ABS-CBN SHUTDOWN

The concerned alumni of the LPU Independent Sentinel—the official student publication for college level of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila—stand in solidarity with ABS-CBN, media workers, and the Filipino people in asserting our right to a free press after a cease and desist order was issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) against the country’s largest media conglomerate.

During the martial law era, our school organ was born after the Lyceans clamored for an independent student press free from the constraints of the administration. Learning from this, we have valued press freedom as essential to democracy, progress and change. A free and democratic society needs a critical voice to keep the powers in check and ensure that the government is fulfilling its mandate to serve the people.

In 1972, the late President Ferdinand Marcos issued Letter of Instruction No. 1 that put the network off-air for the very first time. Forty-eight years later, the recent actions by the government have yet again undermined our rights to free press, speech, expression, and information.

We call on the parties responsible for stifling these rights guaranteed by the 1987 Constitution, such as the Office of the Solicitor General and the House of Representatives, to act swiftly by reversing the damages done by their actions, or lack thereof, especially during this coronavirus pandemic when information is of the utmost importance to the public.

We call on the LPU community and whole nation to defend our democratic values and ideals. We must uphold the rights and freedoms which our forebears have valiantly fought for. A dictatorship had weaponized the law and silenced the press in the past. We owe it to the generation that toppled it to learn from this history, and to ensure that never again would it be repeated.

In Veritas et Patria, we soldier on.

LYCESGO accomplishes 72.72% of programs in strategic plan | LPU Independent Sentinel 06/05/2018

The Lyceum Central Student Government (LYCESGO) has achieved 16 out of the 22 projects in their strategic plan. One of their projects, the "University-wide LED TVs," has been adopted by LPU.

"I vetoed and I rejected the project installation of smart TV. (...) But we are talking to a vendor who will be supplying three unit[s] of television so that's no longer taken care of by LYCESGO but it's now a project of the institution," said Dean Jayson Barlan of the Student Affairs Office (SAO) during the student election's CIR Face Off.
