Congratulations to all PNUans who participated in the Education Challenge 2023!
Education Challenge 2023 was really an opportunity for the PNUans to showcase their scholastic knowledge in the General Education and Professional Education Courses. The participants amazed everyone with their wits and brains. Surely, they used their thinking caps.
After the thorough reviewing of the scores from the General Education and Professional Education categories, Elisha Nañola from the Faculty of Arts and Languages, PNU-Manila bagged the first place, and led the score board! Followed by Stephanie Alyssa Lladonez from Faculty of Science, Technology and Mathematics, PNU-South Luzon and Joseph Jesson Santos from the Institute of Physical Education Health Recreation Dance and Sport, PNU-Manila who tied rank for 2nd place, and Mary Rose Macabuhay from Faculty of Science, Technology and Mathematics, PNU-South Luzon for the 3rd place.
For the General Education round, Elisha Nañola from the Faculty of Arts and Languages, PNU-Manila secured the 1st place. Glowen Kyle Daniel Aprece from Faculty of Science, Technology and Mathematics, PNU-Mindanao and John Steven B. Cantado from Institute of Physical Education Health Recreation Dance and Sports, PNU-Manila ranked 2nd place.
There were four representatives who won 3rd place namely: Muel Mark Bueno under the Faculty of Arts and Languages, PNU-North Luzon, Mary Rose Macabuhay from Faculty of Science, Mathe, and Technology, PNU-South Luzon, Richard Brylle Santos from Institute of Knowledge Management Office, PNU-Manila, and Bianca May Gonzales under the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences, PNU-North Luzon. Clever minds, indeed!
And of course for the Professional Education category, Elisha Nañola from the Faculty of Arts and Languages, and Joseph Jesson Santos from the Institute of Physical Education Health Recreation Dance and Sport, both from PNU-Manila clutched the 1st place. Followed by Stephanie Alyssa Liadonez from the Faculty of Science, Technology and Mathematics, PNU-South Luzon. We also have a tie for 3rd place, Mark Erickson S. Calunod under the Faculty of Science, Technology and Mathematics, PNU-Manila and Mary Rose Macabuhay from Faculty of Science, Technology and Mathematics, PNU-South Luzon.
Once more, it has been proven that PNUans possess not only an upbeat disposition but also wit and intelligence.

The convocation speaker is Ms. Victoria L. Tinio, Executive Director of Foundation of Information Technology Education and Development, Inc. (FIT-ED) who shared her insights on how to address future-ready education and SDG 4 through scaling.

Pagpupugay sa ating minamahal na tatlong fakulti sa kanilang promosyon sa pamamagitan ng Merit System for Faculty batay sa rekomendasyon ng Faculty Selection Board (FSB).
The Faculty of Education Sciences continued the PROFED CAPSTONE Project Presentation on August 7, 2023, featuring the works of NLEC Cluster 3 at the main building auditorium.
The importance of inclusivity and diversity cannot be overstated in a rapidly evolving world. Through the works of NLEC 7, “The Perfectly Imperfect,” NLEC 8, “SIKHAY: A Voyage unto never-ending learning,” NLEC 9, “METAMORPHOSIS: A Journey to Inclusivity and Self-Discovery.” Societies embraced inclusivity and diversity as a collective responsibility that promises a brighter and more harmonious future.
The digibooks were evaluated by a panel of judges including Prof. Analyn Bituin, Prof. Jerick Ferrer, and Prof. Maryfe Roxas. Experts who brought their unique areas of expertise.

Ginawaran ng pagkilala ang mga natatanging magsisipagtapos ng BECE sa ilalim ng FES sa ginanap na taunang Touchstone na may temang, "G**o ng mga Bata, Handa sa Makabuluhang Pagkatuto para sa Kinabukasan," ika-2 ng Agosto sa ITL Amphitheater. Nagbigay ng inspirasyong mensahe ang panauhing pandangal na si Bb. Katrina Guila A. Peñafiel, ECCD Program Officer at isa ring BECE Alumna sa taong 2015, sa mga g**o ng mga bata sa hinaharap.
Opisyal na inumpisahan ang programa sa Pambansang Awit at Panalangin na inihanda ng FClef — isang sub-organisasyon sa Faculty of Education Sciences Student Assembly (FESSA) na lumilinang sa aspetong pang-musika ng mga estudyante sa fakulti. Ang kanilang kinatawan na si Bb. Julia Nikki G. Refamonte, miyembro ng FClef at PRO for External Affairs ng FESSA, ang nagkumpas at nanguna rito.
Malugod na pinakilala nina Dr. Alvin B. Barcelona at Dr. Zhanina U. Custodio — ang mga tagapagdaloy ng programa — ang Katuwang na Dekana ng Fakulti ng mga Agham Pang-Edukasyon (FES) na si Dr. Maria Teresa L. Manicio para sa kaniyang pambungad na pananalita. Masigasig na binati ni Dr. Manicio ang mga dumalong g**o-estudyante, fakulti, at mga komite upang mabigyan ng pagkilala ang mga magsisipagtapos na may natatanging karangalang nakamit pang-akademiko at ekstrakrukilar.
Nagbigay ng mensahe si Dr. Ruth A. Alido, Dekana ng Kolehiyo ng Paglinang Pangg**o, na siyang mababaon ng mga g**o sa hinaharap sa kanilang tatahaking buhay sa labas ng Inang Pamantasan. Binigyang-diin ang ideya na ang pagiging g**o ay hindi lamang para sa sarili kung hindi para sa bansa at sa bawat Pilipinong kabataan upang mas maging makahulugan ang medalya at sertipiko na makakamit.
Buong pusong pinakilala ni Dr. Melissa T. Bartolome ang Panauhing Pandangal na nagtapos ng Cum Laude sa BECE noong taong 2015 at gradwado ng MAEd ECE sa taong 2022. Marami rin itong naging kasanayan at kaalaman patungkol sa kapakanan ng mga kabataan dahil siya ay isang g**o, lektor, at tagapagtaguyod ng edukasyon sa mga bata. Sa kasalukuyan ay isa siyang ECCD Program Officer — Bb. Katrina Guila A. Peñafiel.
Naglahad siya ng ilang paalala na kailangan pakatatandaan sa pagsuong sa labas ng Pamantasan. Una na riyan ang pagkakaroon ng pananagutan at responsibilidad sa lahat ng ginagawa dahil pinaalalahanan na sila na ang mga g**ong magbibigay ng inspirasyon, tinitingala, magtuturo sa mga musmos na kaisipan, at gagabay sa kanila. Pangalawa, ay huwag tumigil matuto at paunlarin pa lalo ang sarili. Kinakailangan na maging mapagkumbaba at magkaroon ng ugaling handa pang matuto sa kadahilang iba’t iba ang maaaring maging karanasan, tagapagturo, at aral na kanilang maiaambag sa pagkatao mo bilang g**o. At panghuli ay pagiging laging handa at matatag sa kung ano ang magiging resulta ng iyong tinatahak. Hindi magiging madali ang daan na puwedeng kaharapin ngunit kinakailangan maniwala pa rin sa iyong sarili. Ginawaran ni Dr. Manicio ng sertipiko ng pasasalamat at pagpapahalaga ang panauhing pandangal matapos nito magbigay ng mensahe.
Upang magbigay sigla sa programa, naghanda ng isang natatanging bilang ang FES Sayaw — isang sub-organisasyon sa FESSA na nakatuon sa paglinang at paghubog ng talent ng mga estudyante sa pagsayaw. Pinangunahan ito ng opisyal na namamahala ng FES Sayaw, Bb. Bianca Joyce S. Solis kasama ang mga miyembro na sina, Bb. Princess Dolorzo (II-16), Bb. Trisha Guinab (II-16), Bb. Louise May Mangaya (III-15), at Bb. Grazieleanne Sellabe (II-16).
Ginawaran ang mga sertipiko ng pagkilala sa mga magsisipagtapos nina Dr. Maria Teresa L. Manicio, Dr. Melissa T. Bartolome, at Dr. April Ann Curugan kasama ng tagapayo ng bawat seksyon na sina Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam (IV-14), Dr. Zhanina U. Custodio (IV-15), at Prof. Nancy S. Ramores (IV-16).
Kinilala at ginawaran rin ang mga natatanging miyembro ng fakulti na nagpamalas ng angking kagalingan sa kadahilang sila ay nagkamit ng pinakamataas na marka sa ebalwasyon ng mga mag-aaral para sa una at ikalawang terminong ng taong panuruang 2022-2023. Para sa unang termino, nagkamit ng 4.90 sina Dr. Alvin B. Barcelona at Dr. Melissa T. Bartolome at 4.95 naman si Dr. Zhanina U. Custodio. Sa ikalawang termino ay nagkamit ng 4.90 sina Prof. Analyn C. Bituin, Dr. April Ann M. Curugan, at Dr. Bettina Philomena M. Sedilla. Ipinamalas ng mga professor ang at kaguruan at propesor sa FES ang pagbibigay nila ng dekalidad na pagtuturo na humuhubog sa g**o ng hinaharap.
Nag-alay naman ng isang audio-visual na pagtatanghal ang FESSA na pinangunahan ni Bb. Faith Margarette N. Abiera, kasalukuyang Presidente ng nasabing organisasyon, para sa mga g**o-estudyante na magsisipagtapos. Pinakita rito ang kanilang paglalakbay mula sa kanilang deployment sa Practice Teaching hanggang sa Finishing School.
Nagbigay ng mensahe ng inspirasyon si Bb. Jhinczhel Mari R. Obmerga mula sa IV-14, para sa mga kapwa niyang BECE kung saan tinalakay niya ang ilan sa kaniyang naranasan at natutunan habang nagsasanay sa pagtuturo. Binigyang-halaga niya na ang kanilang mga nakamit ay bunga ng pagtitiwala at paniniwala sa kanilang sarili maliban sa nagsakripisyo at tumulong sa kanila. Pinaalalahanan din niya ang mga turo na pinamana sa kanila bilang anak ni Inang Pamantasan na umiikot sa tatlong prinsipyo na "truth, excellence, service."
Kinaaliwan naman ng marami ang pangwakas na pananalita ni Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam, Puno ng Sentro ng Pagbasa at Literasi sa kaniyang malikhaing pagbibigay simbolismo ng isang kantang pinamagatang, Catch a Falling Star ni Perry Como. Iniwan ni Dr. Calamlam ang kaisipan na — “ang lahat ng oportunidad ay huwag palalampasin, ito ay itago. Ang mga naging karanasan mula rito, maganda man o hindi ay gamitin para sa pag-unlad sa hinaharap.”
Naghanda rin ng photo booth para may maitabing ala-ala ang mga dumalo at mga nagsipagtapos na ginawa ng Obra FESSA — isang sub-organisasyon sa FESSA na kinabibilangan ng mga talentadong g**o sa sining. Matagumpay na natapos ang program sa pamumuno ni Dr. April Ann M. Curugan katuwang ang mga komite ng fakulti, mga komite sa FESSA, at mga boluntaryo mula sa BECE.

Idinaos ang Touchstone 2023 noong ika-2 ng Agosto sa ITL Amphitheater upang bigyang parangal ang mga natatanging g**o-estudyante mula sa seksyong IV-14, IV-15, at IV-16 ng programang Batsilyer sa Panimulang Edukasyong Pambata (BECE) sa ilalim ng Fakulti ng Edukasyong Pang-Agham (FES). Sila ay kinilala sa kanilang angking kahusayan pang-akademiko, ekstra-kurikular na mga gawain at ang kanilang dedikasyon sa pagtuturo sa off-campus.
Lubos na nagpasalamat ang Katuwang na Dekana ng FES na si Dr. Maria Teresa L. Manicio sa lahat ng dumalong g**o-estudyante, fakulti, at mga komite. Malugod naman na binati ni Dr. Ruth A. Alido, Dekana ng Kolehiyo ng Pagpapaunlad Pangg**o ang mga magsisipagtapos at ang mga may katangi-tanging karangalan. Binigyang importansiya ng Dekana ang paglilingkod muna sa sariling bayan at ang pag hubog sa kaisipan ng mga kabataang Filipino.
Si Bb. Katrina Guila A. Peñafiel ang panauhing pandangal na isa ring produkto ng BECE ng pamantasan noong 2015. Siya ay naging g**o, lektor, at tagapagtaguyod ng edukasyon sa mga bata at sa kasalukuyang ECCD Program Officer. Nagbigay siya ng masidhing pagbati sa mga magsisipagtapos at paalala na kung ano man ang tatahakin sa hinaharap ay magtiwala sa sarili.
Ginawaran din ang mga natatanging miyembro ng fakulti na nagpamalas ng angking kagalingan sa kadahilang sila ay nagkamit ng pinakamataas na marka sa ebalwasyon ng mga mag-aaral para sa una at pangalawang termino ng taong panuruang 2022-2023. Para sa unang termino, nagkamit ng 4.90 sina Dr. Alvin B. Barcelona at Dr. Melissa T. Bartolome at 4.95 naman si Dr. Zhanina U. Custodio. Malugod naming kinikilala nang may buong pagmamalaki ang mga nagsipagtapos sa kursong Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (BECEd) mula sa Fakulti ng Agham Pang-Edukasyon na nagpamalas ng angking kagalingang pang-akademiko.

The FES continues its journey of creating meaningful and fruitful projects with the second cluster of the NLEC Presentation in their PROFED Capstone on the 27th of July at the PNU Main Auditorium. The event commenced with the inspiring quote, "Kahit mahirap, gagawin para para sa bata."
At the heart of this event was the highly anticipated presentation of the Digital Book produced by the 2nd cluster, The titles of the NLEC 4, NLEC 5, and NLEC 6 capstone projects were "Seeing through Inclusive Lenses: An Educraft Exploration Into the World of Diverse Learners," "NLEC 5 Fortifying Foundations: A Step Further Into Inclusivity," and "NLEC 6 Pay It Forward (A Fictional Academic Book)," respectively.
A distinguished panel of judges, including Prof. Analyn Bituin, Prof. Jerick Ferrer, and Prof. Maryfe Roxas, assessed the projects.

PROFED CAPSTONE PROJECT PRESENTATION💙💛
The first-ever Prof. Ed. Capstone Project Showcase of NLEC students in the academic year 2022-2023 revolved around the thought-provoking theme "Our Journey in Stories: An Integration of Theories and Concepts Learned in Professional Education." This milestone event, thoughtfully organized by FES, featured NLEC students’ project on their ProfEd Courses. The event took center stage on the 20th of July, Cluster 1, at the prestigious PNU Main Auditorium, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation among participants and attendees.
The event provided a remarkable platform for aspiring educators to demonstrate their profound grasp of essential concepts and theoretical perspectives related to human development, learning, special education, and inclusion, while also showcasing their distinct teaching philosophies.
Beyond excelling in theory, the showcase also served as a testament to the students' abilities in collaborative and reflective learning, as well as their talents in diverse creative domains, such as writing, illustration, photography, and media. Their multifaceted aptitude impressed both their peers and educators. The judging panel, comprising Prof. Jerick Ferrer, Prof. Analyn Bituin, and Prof. Maryfe Roxas, added expertise to the evaluation process, while some NLEC faculty selected for special awards.

📣 FES holds the 1st Capstone Project Showcase of Year 1 ProfEd Courses
Mark your calendar and witness the first-ever Prof. Ed. Capstone Project Showcase of NLEC students AY 2022-2023 with the theme “Our Journey in Stories: An Integration of Theories and Concepts Learned in Professional Education.” The event will take place on July 20 (Cluster 1), July 27 (Cluster 2) and August 3 (Cluster 3) at the PNU Main Auditorium.
During the showcase, the students will present their e-vignettes as part of the culminating and integrated requirements for their Year 1 Professional Education courses: The Teaching Profession (2ProfEd01), Psychology of Learning (2ProfEd02), Theories of Learning (2ProfEd03), and Foundations of Special and Inclusive Education (2ProfEd05).
The activity aims to demonstrate the preservice teachers’ in-depth understanding of concepts and theoretical perspectives on human development, learning, special education, inclusion and their teaching philosophy. Moreover, the showcase also highlights the students’ adeptness in cooperative and reflective learning, writing, illustration, photography and media skills.
Surely, it will be a memorable, inspiring and uplifting experience for everyone! See you there!

On June 09, 2023, the PNU Faculty of Education Sciences and selected District V Barangays Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony took place at the HRD Amphitheater, signifying a significant milestone in the collaboration between the involved parties.
The MOA signing ceremony was joined by Dr. Rowena D. Sabate, Extension Coordinator; Dr. Maria Teresa L. Manicio, FES Associate Dean; Hon. Carol S. Malabag, Chairperson of Brgy. 659, represented by barangay secretary, Hon. Alessandra Trasfiero; Hon. Robert A. Bunda, Chairperson of Brgy. 659-A; and Hon. Evangelina Lete, Chairperson of Brgy. 661. Councilors and Sangguniang Kabataan officials from the respective barangays also participated in the event.
The FES Faculty—Prof. Rachel R. Ortega, Dr. Bettina Philomena Sedilla, Prof. Jerick C. Ferrer, Prof. Analyn C. Bituin, Dr. Maville Dizon, Prof. Laarni Urbiztondo, Dr. Alvin B. Barcelona, and Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam were present to facilitate the focus group discussion that aimed to begin collaborative discussions on the needs of the community..
The partnership agreement for Barangay 659, 659-A, and 661 in Manila involves programs under Bagong Simula in Neighboring Barangays. Projects in the pipeline focus on enhancing the skills of daycare providers and child development workers, encouraging parents to become more proficient in literacy training, and fostering a love of reading in young children.
The event was co-facilitated by the second year volunteer students from BECED. Mary Rose Salgado and Dave Albo from BECED 2-16 served as masters of ceremonies.
