OMC - OLA Male Chorale

OMC leads the congregation in praising the Lord through music at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Abandoned, Sta. Elena, Marikina City during the 8:00PM Mass.

“Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit. No matter what language we speak, what color we are, the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith, music proves: We are the same.” ~John Denver

Men of diverse interests coming together may not be far-fetched but is not usual either. Here is

"For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

Christ Jesus clearly states how we are to conduct ourselves. In our daily lives when we attempt to be the “doers” we must keep the above verse in mind. In fact memorizing this verse will help us to navigate our path in this perilous sea of life. But let us also remember that God is for us and through Christ we can do all things!

The disciples are reminded that their faith in Jesus may be tested, but they can find solace in the fact that God will never forsake them. Our faith calls us to follow Jesus, even in the face of difficulty and uncertainty. Discipleship is rooted in a profound relationship with the Lord, a relationship where Jesus invites us to cast our cares, worries, pains, and disappointments on Him, knowing that He is always there.

The Eucharist for us is the great wisdom of God, an infinite gift to humanity. Jesus bequeathed the Eucharist to the Church so that He could continue to give us His life through His Word and through the Sacrament. Through the Eucharist, we are reminded that happiness consists in giving our lives for others. We are called to be bread broken for others. The wisdom of life is to offer ourselves for the service of our brothers and sisters. This is the only life that is worthy of living.

Lord, You have revealed to us the deepest mysteries of life. You have revealed Your love and compassion, and You have revealed the way to eternal life. Please give me the gift of faith so that I will believe all that You have revealed. Please especially deepen my faith in the Gift of the Most Holy Eucharist. Jesus, I trust in You.

His words can open our eyes and hearts to distinctive and everlasting possibilities that he can and will offer us. Through my reflecting I believe that he will take all my feeble reasons for seeking him and invite me into a deeper awareness of who he is and what a life in an unfathomable and personal relationship with him will truly mean.

His identity, as the Bread of Life who comes down from heaven, his Incarnation as a human and his identity as a Divine Being who comes to dwell among us, can lead me to eternal life with our Triune God.

In our lives, we often face challenges that seem insurmountable. Like Philip, we might focus on our limited resources, doubting that we have enough to make a difference. But this story encourages us to bring whatever we have to Jesus, trusting in His power to multiply and transform. Whether it’s our time, talents, or resources, when we place them in God’s hands, He can turn scarcity into abundance.

As we reflect on Jesus’ words, we are also reminded of the importance of humility and service. Jesus presents a child as a model for his disciples, emphasizing the value of humility and dependence on God. In contrast, the disciples were arguing about who was the greatest, demonstrating their own pride and ambition.

The people were astonished at Jesus’ teaching, and it is clear that he is teaching with authority. This is not just a matter of intellectual understanding, but a deep understanding of the heart of God. Jesus is not just teaching about God, but is revealing God’s heart and will.

In today’s world, we often face our own storms, whether they be personal, professional, or global. We may feel like we’re losing control, and our fears and anxieties can overwhelm us. But Jesus’ example in this Gospel reminds us that we don’t have to be in control. We can entrust our lives to God, just as the disciples did, and trust that He will guide us through the turbulent waters.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the ways in which our fathers and father figures have nurtured and guided us. Let us express our gratitude for their love, support, and care, and let us strive to be good stewards of the gifts they have given us.

May today’s gospel reading inspire us to continue the work of our fathers and father figures, scattering seeds of love and care in the lives of those around us, and trusting that they will grow and flourish in the days to come.

As we reflect on the Trinity, we are reminded of the mystery of God’s love. Baptism is a sacrament that symbolizes our union with God, and it is through this sacrament that we are called to be reflections of God’s enduring love. Let us strive to be unwavering in our commitments and faithful in our love, honoring God’s design for our lives and relationships.

As we celebrate Pentecost, we are reminded of the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are called to be witnesses to Jesus, just as the apostles were. We are called to share our faith with others and to spread the message of Jesus Christ. And we are called to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to do so.

In the words of the Franciscan Gospel Reflection, “Can you take some time to talk to God about God’s desire to give this power to his disciples, and to you?” May we be open to the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit in our lives, that we may be bold witnesses to Jesus Christ.

For those whose mothers and grandmothers are still alive - cherish them today. Hug and kiss them. Honor them. Thank them. For those whose mothers have gone home to the Lord, remember them. For all who bear the name Christian, the name of our eternal family, let us also honor the Mother of the Lord today. Her maternal care for Jesus still embraces all those who are joined to Him, as members of His Body, by that great new birth of Baptism. Finally, let us ask the Lord to open our eyes, and our hearts, to come to more fully understand the great mystery and gift of the Church as our Mother. Let us live our lives as Christians, by living in the heart of Mother Church, for the sake of the world into which we are sent to bear the Good News.

On this solemn day, we honor the memory of our dear Kuya Buddy, a cherished friend and mentor in our choir family. His spirit continues to resonate within each note we sing, a testament to his unwavering passion for music and his profound love for his fellow choirmates. Though a decade has passed, his legacy of kindness, guidance, and camaraderie lives on, inspiring us to strive for excellence and unity in every harmony. Today, we sing not only in remembrance but also in celebration of the beautiful soul that was Kuya Buddy, forever etched in the melodies of our hearts. Rest in peace, dear friend.

The love between the Father and Son is so intense and intimate that both of them think and act as one perfect divine union, in the Spirit.

Jesus loves each of us personally and intensely even though our love for Him in return is often fickle, frivolous and unfaithful.

However, Jesus continues to have the infinite patience and mercy to nurture our love for Him. “Lord Jesus, you chose us to bear fruit; fruit that will last. Nourish us with your graces so that we may love others more fully.”

Jesus told the disciples that they must “remain in [Him].” Despite the busyness and tiredness, we need to remain in Him by cultivating our relationship with Him. We need to make prayer a daily habit. We must find time to read His Word. Going to Mass to receive Him - body, blood, soul, and divinity will nourish and sustain us. Going to confession to hear His forgiveness will help lift some of that burden. We should consciously work at being closer to Jesus.

Jesus wants you to be that calm, wise, and confident leader in troubled times. Good shepherds bring the wisdom of Jesus to each of these events. Despite all the violence in Our Lord’s time, He calmly called His followers to be leaders who are never frightened by wolves, and lead their family and friends to that happy way of life that is the Kingdom of God.

GOD can make the worst possible situations turn into blessings. What could be worse than the death of the Son of GOD on a cross? Yet, from the tomb in which the crucified Jesus was laid, new life has come. Jesus is alive in His glorified body. He has conquered not only sin and death, He has made it possible for us to share a renewed relationship with the GOD Who has created us. And this new relationship is eternal. Let us continue to rejoice and celebrate. Jesus is alive. We are saved. Alleluia!
