Journeying through the following years as an altar server became one of the greatest memory for each aspiring children of God.

We, the Altar servers of Miagao, embarked in a one day recollection, fortifying and strengthening the bonds of every Altar servers that holds the foundation of our church. Gathered as not only servers but as a family. We cherish memories through reflecting on why we became altar servers in the first place. Enganging in moments that made us realize that serving the lord was not only a choice, but a call. A call that started the day us, the people, came to this world.

Through this recollection, we realized that life has always been a puzzle. You just have to slowly build it to know what path you want to show. In the end, we concluded that the most important things we need is not our goal but our family, friends, and the Lord.

In celebration of the Altar Servers Month, The Ministry of Altar Servers held their recollection at St. Thomas of Villanueva Parish , Miagao, Iloilo with the Theme: "He came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many".

After the morning praise and reflection, it is followed by a series of activities provided by our guest speaker, Mrs. Ruby T. Buenaflor.

In the afternoon session, a team building activity was conducted that teaches us trust with our fellow servers. It is then followed by the adoration to the blessed sacrament.

"Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is a true drink." - John 6:53-55

What does the Solemnity of Corpus Christi celebrate?

Also known as the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, this feast honors Jesus Christ, really, truly and substantially present under the appearances of bread and wine. This presence happens through the change which the Church calls transubstantiation (“change of substance”), when at the Consecration of the Mass, the priest says the words which Christ himself pronounced over bread and wine, “This is My Body,” “This is the chalice of My Blood,” “Do this in remembrance of Me”. In Latin, Corpus Christi means the “body of Christ.”

Today, we celebrate the feast of St Dominic Savio (Italian: Domenico Savio; 2 April 1842 – 9 March 1857) He was an Italian student of John Bosco. He was studying to be a priest when he became ill and died at the age of 14, possibly from pleurisy. He was noted for his piety and devotion to the Catholic faith, and was canonized a saint by Pope Pius XII in 1954.

O Saint Dominic Savio, a model of purity, piety, penance and apostolic zeal for youth; grant that, through your intercession, we may service God in our ordinary duties with fervent devotion, and attain the grace of holy joy on earth, that we may one day love God forever in Heaven. Amen.

IN PHOTO: EASTER VIGIL & EASTER SUNDAY

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. - Matthew 28:5-8

We celebrated the Easter Sunday, the highest feast of the Church. We have celebrated it with gladness and joy. As the light of the paschal candle illuminates every corner of the church, our heart was also enkindled as we renew our baptismal vows. This Easter, may we to renew our faith and love, may we make the death of sin into the life of Grace.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
- John 3:16-17

In Good Friday celebration, we celebrated the Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord at St. Thomas of Villanova Parish, St. Isidore Chapel, and St. Vincent Ferrer Chapel celebrated the said liturgy. After which, the solemn procession started followed by the veneration of the cross.

MAUNDY THURSDAY

"If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet.
-John 13:14

Today, as we enter the Paschal Triduum, we celebrated the Mass for the Last Supper of the Lord, by washing of the feet and transfering the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose in St. Thomas of Villanova Parish , St. Vincent Ferrer Chapel and St. Isidore Chapel. As we start the Paschal Triduum, may we reflect, pray, and repent for our sins. The Paschal Triduum celebration is one single Mass that is why it is necesary to attend the Liturgy of the Passion and Death of the Lord.

"Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King"
- Luke 19:28-44

Today, we celebrate the Palm Sunday, the sunday of the Passion of our Lord. We celebrate the Blessings of Palms, the Solemn Procession, and the Holy Eucharist in St. Thomas of Villanova Parish, St. Vincent Ferrer Chapel in Valencia, and in St. Isidore Chapel in Palaca. We should start the Holy week with a deep reflection within ourselves. This Holy week, we reflect, pray, do almsgiving, and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

PALM SUNDAY

Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of Holy Week, and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.

Palm Sunday is known as such because the faithful will often receive palm fronds which they use to participate in the reenactment of Christ's arrival in Jerusalem. In the Gospels, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey, and to the lavish praise of the townspeople who threw clothes, or possibly palms or small branches, in front of him as a sign of homage. This was a customary practice for people of great respect.

Palm branches are widely recognized symbol of peace and victory, hence their preferred use on Palm Sunday.

The use of a donkey instead of a horse is highly symbolic, it represents the humble arrival of someone in peace, as opposed to arriving on a steed in war.

A week later, Christ would rise from the dead on the first Easter.

THE PASCHAL TRIDUUM

The Paschal Triduum or Easter Triduum (Latin: Triduum Paschale),Holy Triduum (Latin: Triduum Sacrum), or the Three Days, is the period of three days that begins with the liturgy on the evening of Maundy Thursday, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday. It is a moveable observance recalling the Passion, Crucifixion, Death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus, as portrayed in the canonical Gospels. The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.

The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:

•Mass of the Lord's Supper
•Good Friday of the Lord's Passion
•Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord

LISTEN TO JESUS!

On the Mount of Transfiguration, as the three Apostles enjoy looking at the vision of the transformed Jesus with Moses and Elijah, the Father in heaven speaks through the clouds. The voice enjoins them to listen to his Beloved Son. It is more meaningful listening to him, than remaining in ecstasy. Jesus is not here to give entertainment and nice feelings, but to present their long glorious future if they listen to him.

Peter rightly calls Jesus, "Rabbi" (v 5). If they recognize him as their teacher, then they must be good listeners. Listening to him is the only way they can understand the mind and heart of Jesus. They should not be listening to their desires or to anyone else, like the many teachers and experts of the Law and the prophets they listened to in the synagogues and in the Temple. Instead, they must listen to Jesus. The voice from heaven says so. Jesus is the ultimate interpreter of God's Word.
