Sunlad Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundation Inc believes that the youth deserves holistic quality education; thus goes beyond just providing financial support, but also ensures that the child grows in academic, social, spiritual and emotional perspective of their lives. A Sunlad scholar is not just a part of an organization, but already is a member of the Sunlad family.

Now that the pandemic has eased up restrictions and social gatherings, the foundation's Board of Directors- the Ladrido Family, has once again visited Iloilo City and listened to countless tales of aspiring applicants who are striving amidst adversities and dedicated to building a better future.

Last May 17, 2023, a panel of interview was held by the foundation at Marriott Hotel, Iloilo City.

PRESENTATION OF BATCH 2018 VISAYAS SCHOLARS AND SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

To formally close the year’s application process for The Sunlad Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundation Inc., a luncheon was held at the Spring Palace Chinese Restaurant in Smallville Complex, Iloilo to celebrate the Presentation of 2018 Visayas Scholars and the Signing of Memorandum of Agreement. The event was well attended by the Directors and Trustees of the Foundation, by various school officials and representatives from SUNLAD’s partner schools consisting of University of San Agustin, University of the Philippines Visayas, Western State Visayas University and Western Institute of Technology, special guests, by the new batch of incoming scholars and their parents, by current scholars and by alumni.

To formally open the event, the current SUNLAD Scholars sang From Now On from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. A delicious Chinese lunch was served laureat style prepared especially for the event by Spring Palace Restaurant. The formal presentation of the new batch of 28 SUNLAD Visayas scholars followed. The memorandum of agreement was signed by the scholars, their parents and Foundation directors to make the undertaking formal and official. This was followed by The Scholar’s Pledge led by Ms. Kaye Legarde. To give the scholar’s reflection, Mr. Joshua Dejapa, CPA and SUNLAD alumnus have a touching and inspiring speech. As is tradition, the event was formally closed by a song number prepared by the newly inaugurated scholars wherein they sang A Million Dreams also from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. This successful event marks new beginnings not just for the foundation but also for our new scholars and we are excited with what the years to come has in store.

Last May 26,2018 (Saturday), the SUNLAD Foundation had a lunch function celebrating the Presentation of 2018 Graduates and also the Presentation of Batch 2018 Incoming Luzon Scholars at the Simpex Function Hall in the Light and Industry Science Park, Sto. Tomas Batangas. Among those present were graduating scholars for this year and their families as they were presented with the SUNLAD medals and certificates.

INTERVIEW OF VISAYAS SCHOLARS- Part II

The success of the initial interviews and the volume of applicants meant that a second round of interviews were necessary for hopeful SUNLAD applicants. The panel interview was held on May 14, 2018 at the Tamarind and Olive Function Rooms of The Richmonde Hotel, Iloilo. Applicants from University of the Philippines Visayas, West Visayas State University, Western Institute of Technology and as recommended by Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy were among those invited for the panel interview with the Trustees and Directors of the Foundation.

INTERVIEW OF VISAYAS SCHOLAR APPLICANTS- Part 1

The Directors and Trustees of The Sunlad Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundation held the first round of interviews for hopeful Visayas region applicants last April 21, 2018 (Saturday) at the Tamarind and Olive Function Rooms of The Richmonde Hotel, Iloilo. The whole day interview session lasted from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM where applicants were asked to come for a panel interview wherein the directors of the foundation had the chance to get to know them better and assess their qualifications to be a SUNLAD scholar. Alumni and current scholars were also present to assist for the day. Most applicants for the day were recommended after applying for scholarship assistance at the University of San Agustin.

INTERVIEW OF LUZON SCHOLAR APPLICANTS

The Directors and Trustees of The Sunlad Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundation had the interviews for Luzon applicants last April 7, 2018 at the Simpex Head Office at the Light, Industry and Science Park in Sto. Tomas Batangas. Hopeful applicants from Luzon region who were selected met the directors for a panel interview which determined their eligibility and qualifications to be a SUNLAD scholar.

She used to be a scholar of The Sunlad-Simpex Educationa Scholarship Foundation Inc. She struggled all her life to survive and surmount all challenges that were set before her in order to become a better person with a profession someday.

Dear Scholars, Trustees and Directors,

It is with mixed feelings that I say farewell to Ms. Kathleen Querubin. A feeling of sadness to see her go, and yet happiness to see her extending her career boundaries.

Kathleen first joined The Sunlad Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundation Inc. in 2013, as the very first Executive Assistant of the Foundation. I had the fortunate opportunity to see Kathleen grow over the years into a valuable member of our team and our family. Most of us who have worked with Kathleen, have found her to be a very conscientious, professional, persevering and hard-working young woman.

Kathleen's outgoing, inspiring and friendly personality helped to create a pleasant environment to work in and she is held in high regard by her colleagues, professional contacts and her beloved scholars. Her contributions have been a great benefit to this organization and, undeniably, she will be deeply missed here. It is definitely our loss and someone else’s gain.

Last June 13,2014 was a milestone for the SUNLAD Foundation as we had the Signing of Memorandum of Agreement and Presentation of our Luzon Scholars for School Year 2014-2016.

The event was held at LISP in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The new batch of scholars, accompanied by their parents were formally presented and signed to be officially part of the foundation with SUNLAD Board of Directors and Trustees in attendance. The foundation then hosted merienda and served refreshments after the program. It was a truly meaningful event and a great start to the School Year.
