Our Story
It was the 1990s when the coffee industry boomed in the Philippines. Since then, coffee has been a part of everyone’s lives. People of all ages started drinking coffee, whether it is a 3-in-1 coffee or those worth a-hundred-something, as part of their daily routine. In a snap, almost everybody just became passionate about coffee.
Last 2009, a group of likeminded individuals decided to establish a school that would enhance the Filipino barista skills and increase Filipino’s coffee appreciation. The Philippine Barista & Coffee Academy, Inc. (PBCA) was born. PBCA is the only school in the country affiliated by The American Barista & Coffee School (ABC’s) in Portland, Oregon. ABC’s is the premier professional facility in the world for coffee business entrepreneurs. ABC’s is located in Portland, Oregon and is the first to offer a complete coffee business educational workshop combined with hands-on barista training.
On April 2015, PBCA was officially renamed Barista and Coffee Academy of Asia. It still retains affiliation with The American Barista & Coffee School (ABC).
BCAA continuously raises the bar and people’s awareness of coffee’s potentials. Its mission is to help address the growing needs and requirements of the specialty coffee industry.
