Lifestyle is always evolving. Twenty years ago, smartphones, Facebook, and Zoom didn’t exist, and online shopping and ride-hailing apps were unheard of. Brands must adapt to keep up.

Malls lost foot traffic during the pandemic, prompting brands to innovate. Some built websites, others partnered with e-commerce platforms or added mobile payment options. Now, with technology, hybrid work, and commuting options, Filipino consumers are highly active.

Data Reportal states, “There were 86.98 million internet users in the Philippines at the start of 2024, with a 73.6% pe*******on rate.”

TLC Worldwide Asia notes that brands must innovate to engage the young, mobile-first population, offering seamless online-to-offline experiences.

Malls have since regained traffic, with ABS reporting they’re now popular due to the heat index.

How do brands stay relevant? Here are some examples:

1️⃣ Grab Food:

During the pandemic, Grab was crucial for essential deliveries. Now, it adapts by partnering with MSMEs and offering technology that keeps it relevant. A Grab study shows 9 out of 10 consumers prefer brands with an integrated online-to-offline experience (Adobo Magazine, 2023). Grab continues to provide preferred dishes for those who stay in.

Adapt your brand’s USP to current customer needs, as Grab did with its technology.

2️⃣ Lazada:

Post-pandemic, Lazada’s campaign highlights its fast, free shipping, reinforcing its superior online shopping experience. CEO Carlos Barrera said the campaign is about making Filipinos' lives easier by delivering parcels faster and more conveniently.

Adapt your brand presentation to fit the more mobile lifestyles of consumers.

3️⃣ Spotify:

Spotify’s algorithm suggests music based on your preferences, increasing engagement. It has expanded to audiobooks, podcasts, and videos, with over 4.7 million podcasts in 2022. CEO Ek stated that innovation and better curation are key to staying ahead (CNBC, 2015).

Continuously innovate to keep your product interesting and relevant.
