𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝, 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐮𝐩𝐚’𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭!

Allesha Glae B. Mapalad of Lakeview Integrated School ranks 7th out of 17 Regions in the recently concluded National Festival of Talents (NFOT) 2024. After being hailed as the Regional Champion in the Population and Development Extemporaneous Speech Category, she was rigorously trained by her mentor, Mr. John Kevin B. Llander.

The Extemporaneous Speech is an NFOT event category of Population Development (PopDev) that allows learner-contestants to showcase an oratorical presentation focusing on the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (DepEd Order 31 s. 2018).

It also enables learner-contestants to exhibit their skills in public speaking and critical analysis on certain topic or issue and deep understanding about the different issues related to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health that occur in society. They are given an hour to write their piece and showcase to the panel of judges in three minutes.

Mapalad and Llander attended the week-long NFOT activities in the City of Naga, Cebu from July 7-11, 2024 together with PopDev Supervisor In-Charge Ms. Mariel Eugene L. Luna, DFOT Focal Person Ms. Leonaida Gutierrez, Mr. Reynante Espeleta representing their School Head Dr. Rosendo Sangalang and ASDS Violeta M. Gonzales.

This is the 1st national appearance of SDO Muntinlupa City in the PopDev category as the Regional Champion and Representative. Mapalad also belongs to the 2022 Batch of Muntinlupa’s Most Outstanding Student (MOST).

MANILA – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) enjoins the nation in celebrating History Month this August 2023. As the lead agency for the celebration, the NHCP has launched the theme ‘Pagpapalaya ng Kasaysayan para sa Sambayanan’ (Democratizing History for the People) with activities that will encourage Filipinos’ appreciation of history and heritage.
As August is considered significant in Philippine history with major historical events occurring within the month from the 1890’s up to the present day, the theme also invites people to see history as a means to greater freedom and understanding, values needed in our current fast-changing environment. Some events we commemorate are National Heroes Day on the last Monday of the month, anniversary of the Bacoor Assembly on the 1st, anniversary of Protestant Christianity on the 13th, the Cry of Pugadlawin on the 23rd, the Battle of San Juan del Monte on the 30th, and birth and death anniversaries of heroes and presidents. This serves as the basis for Proclamation No. 339, s. 2012 that declared the month of August of every year as History Month.
The NHCP also encourages all government agencies, institutions of learning, and other organizations to organize activities in line with History Month. The calendar of events and publicity materials may be downloaded from the FB page of the NHCP or thru these links:

✍️ DepEd Philippines: Pinagtibay ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ang DepEd Order No. 51, s. 2014 o “Mga Alituntunin sa Pagsasagawa ng mga Aktibidad at Paggamit ng mga Kagamitan na may Aspeto ng Kultura ng mga Katutubo” bilang isang hakbang upang matigil ang iba't-ibang anyo ng diskriminasyon laban sa mga katutubo sa buong sistema ng edukasyon. Itinataguyod nito ang pagkilala at pagrespeto sa iba't ibang kultura, kasama na ang proteksyon ng intelektuwal na karapatan sa kanilang kultura, kagamitan, at ari-arian.

In line with the celebration this October of the Museums and Galleries Month, the Museo ng Muntinlupa Re-opens and launched the Luntiang Lungsod exhibit and several series of the museum tours and the BTS.
