FACTS ABOUT GLAUCOMA

Glaucoma is a disease that usually occurs when fluid builds up in the front part of your eye. The extra fluid increases the pressure in your eye, damaging the optic nerve. There are two major types. Open-angle glaucoma, the most common, happens gradually. It is painless and causes no vision changes at first. As the disease progresses, blind spots develop in your peripheral vision. Angle-closure glaucoma is a true emergency requiring immediate medical attention to prevent blindness. Early symptoms include blurred vision, halos, mild headaches or eye pain.

Maaaring maiwasan ang Neglected Tropical Diseases sa pamamagitan ng pag-access sa malinis na tubig, pagpanatili ng kalinisan sa katawan at kapaligiran, at paghugas ng kamay bago hawakan ang pagkain.

Goiter is the swelling of the thyroid gland, an organ found in the lower front of the neck that is mainly responsible for regulating our metabolism and developing our body. Goiters occur due to lack or excess of thyroid hormone production, as well as the presence of nodules in the thyroid. Symptoms may include:

✔️ Swelling of the neck vein/s or at the base of the neck
✔️ Tightness in the throat
✔️ Hoarseness
✔️ Coughing
✔️ Difficulty breathing and swallowing
✔️Dizziness when the arms are raised above the head
