The two-year program consists of comprehensive training in general nephrology, glomerular diseases, kidney transplantation, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, critical care nephrology, interventional nephrology, deceased organ donor management and renal research at NKTI, the National Specialty Center in Renal Care and Organ Transplantation.

The Department of Health (DOH) is continually assessing the clinical, epidemiologic, and logistics situation to effectively respond to the anticipated rise in Leptospirosis after the floods of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Habagat.

The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) is currently treating several confirmed and probable Leptospirosis cases. To allow for prompt management, doctors and their suspect or probable Leptospirosis patients are hereby advised to divert to nearby equally capable hospitals.

We would like to inform the public that effective tomorrow, July 24, 2024, Non-NKTI Hemodialysis (HD) patients will not be allowed to procure Erythropoietin from the NKTI Pharmacy using Guarantee Letters (GL).

Their HD centers are required to provide them with their own Erythropoietin injection.

This is part of the guidelines included in the NKTI Hospital Order No. 39 s. 2024, entitled: “Coverage Expansion of the PHIC 156 Hemodialysis Sessions”, implementing Philhealth Circular No. 2024-0014 or the “Institutionalization of 156 Hemodialysis (HD) Sessions and Coverage Expansion”.
