Judge Juan Luna High School - JJLHS

Taong 1970 nang dumating si Ginang Emilia Font at naipatayo niya ang Gusaling Bagong Lipunan. Makalipas ang ilang taon, nagkaroon ng tatlong palapag ang gusali na nagdurugtong sa "Building A" at "Building B" sa pamamahala ni Bb. Aurora Taguba.

Sinikap naman ni Ginoong Victorino Cano na mapaunlad ang paaralan sa kaniyang pamumuno noong taong 1984. Sinundan pa ng mga mahuhusay at de kalibreng punong-gur tulad nina Ginang Teresita Turla, Ginang Lilia Sahagun, Ginang Lumen Velasco at Ginoong Exequiel Calixtro.

Taong 2005, dumaan ang Hukom Juan Luna sa matinding pagsubok. Nasunog ang paaralan noong Pebrero 2005. Tatlong libong (3,000) mag-aaral ang naapektuhan ng nasabing sakuna. Nasunog ang halos lahat ng mga gusali ng paaralan maliban sa Calalay at Mathay!

Gayunpaman, unti unting bumangon sa pagkakadapa ang paaralan. Taong 2006 nang manumbalik ang lakas at sigla ng mga mag-aaral at g**o dahil sa panibagong mukha ng paaralan.

Taong 2008, sa pamamahala ni Ginoong Jose B. Dividina, naipatayo ang dalawang gusali -- ang SB at DepEd Building! Naipatayo din ang dalawang covered court sa gitna ng paaralan -- Delarmente Covered Court at Crisologo Covered Court. Lalong namayagpag ang paaralan nang makamit nito ang ikatlong ranggo sa National Achievement Test (NAT) na nilahukan ng mga paaralang sekundarya sa Dibisyon ng Lungsod Quezon!

Taong 2012, sa pamumuno ni Ginang Lucia Herrera, naipatayo ang apat na palapag na gusali na may walong silid-aralan.

Taong 2015, dumating sa paaralan si Ginang Leila V. Ancheta. Nanatiling matatag at maunlad ang paaralan sa kaniyang pamumuno. Ipinagpatuloy ng bagong pamunuan ang adhikaing nasimulan ng mga naunang namuno, mga g**o at mag-aaral na malaki ang naiambag sa pag-angat at pagkilala sa paaralan.

WHO IS JUDGE JUAN L. LUNA?
Birthplace: Calapan, Mindoro
Birthdate: August 29, 1894
Death: March 19,1952 (due to heart failure)
Parents: Pedro Luces Luna & Silvestre Abao

Orphaned at an early age. His mother died when he was six and his father was shot for not revealing the whereabouts of guerilleros when he was seven years old.

He was adopted by his half-brother, ANTONIO LUNA. He helped in his brother's household and in return was allowed to study.

With his guardians consent he studied at the Normal School. Later he transferred to the Manila High School. He had only two suits. He always kept a can of condensed milk and drunk this with cold rice every time he gets hungry at night.

He won the second Annual Curatorial Contest in 1944. He submitted his paper and practised his speech at the Luneta. The some up of his contemporaries were Quirino, Culleas, Roxas etc. He was awarded a gold medal given by Chief Justice Carson and Php 150. His allowance from his brother was only Php 19.00 so he taught at Troso Primary School.

He took up Law at the University of the Philippines. He also passed the first Civil Service Examination.

He was one of the first ten when he took the bar exam. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1915. He became clerk of court. He was practicing attorney from 1915-1916. He was attorney and land suspector in Bureau of Lands, 1917-1919. He was employed by the Pacific Commercial Company as attorney of the Calamba Sugar Hills in 1919-1921.

He was assistant attorney, Bureau of Justice, 1922. He defended court cases and helped register 35,000 lots for free. He was elected Representatives to the Philippine Legislative fo Mindoro from 1922-1925, 1928-1931, 1931-1934.

He went to China and Japan as Vice Chairman of the Philippine Legislative, Trade Missionn 1933. He was member of the National Assembly 1935-1938. He was head of the legislative Council and authored the Women's Suffrage Bill.

He took post graduate courses from University of Santo Tomas (UST).

Just before the outbreak of the war, he was District Judge for the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Mindoro and Marinduque.

During the Japanese occupation, he was appointed appellate judge for but was not able to perform his duties anymore.

He was appointed by Pres. Sergio Osmena Sr. as Governor during the liberation of the Philippines from the Japanese oppressors to establish peace and order in Mindoro.

He married on October 5, 1919 Araceli Adriatico, daughter of the late Don Macario Adriatico, former Assemblymen from Mindoro. They had five children; Araceli, Juan, Lita, Maria and Manuel.

He died of heart failure on March 19,1952 at the St. Paul's Hospital.
