Today, September 8, is 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲! Obelisk may be a journalism organization, but we're also lovers of literature. From poems to books, literacy is a basic need. Happy Literacy Day CIITzens!

People woke up to a murky sky this August 19 as Taal Volcano emits volcanic smog, blanketing most of CALABARZON and Metro Manila. With the first week of classes fast-approaching, we urge CIITzens to be safe and wear masks when going outdoors.

Last June, we celebrated the Communication Arts Week with our 𝐎𝐧-𝐓𝐡𝐞-𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Contests held during the week included 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Contestants had a great challenge and were give the chance to let their imagination run wild when the competition's theme was revealed, "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟐𝟎𝟎", following the current trend in pop culture of futurism and dystopian concepts.

Do you wish for an opportunity to showcase your talent in the arts? Now's your chance to shine as one of the brightest storyteller!

In collaboration with Communication Arts Week and the General Education department, we will be holding an on-the-spot literary competition for a chance to be published on CIIT Obelisk's first literary folio.

The competition consists of four categories: 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬, 𝗣𝗢𝗘𝗧𝗥𝗬, 𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗛𝗬. It will be held on June 21, 2024 (Friday).

General Mechanics:

1. The competition is open to all CIITzens currently enrolled in the third term of AY 2023-2024.

2. The theme will be announced at the start of the competition.

3. The participants are given 3 hours to work on their output. All entries must be submitted on June 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM.

4. All works must be original and created on the day of the competition.

5. The file name should be the title of the piece with a byline of the author’s name or pseudonym.
Winners will be awarded with the publication and a physical copy of the literary folio of CIIT Obelisk.
