Ang hand foot and mouth disease ay isang nakakahawang sakit na kumakalat sa pamamagitan ng direktang kontak sa droplets na may virus mula sa isang pasyente na mayroon nito. Kapag nahawaan nito, maaaring makaramdam ng sintomas tulad ng lagnat, masakit na lalamunan, pagkawala ng ganang kumain, mga pantal sa kamay, palad, talampakan ng mga paa, at maselang bahagi ng katawan.
Kapag nakaramdam ng mga sintomas ng HFMD, agad sa pinakamalapit na Primary Care Providers.

Noong ika-20 ng Hulyo 2024, 1 ang naitalang malubha at kritikal na pasyente na naka-admit sa ating mga ospital dahil sa COVID-19. Sa 160 ICU beds para sa mga pasyenteng may COVID-19, 8 (5%) ang okupado. Samantala, 25 (3%) ng 927 non-ICU COVID-19 beds naman ang kasalukuyan ding ginagamit.
Higit sa 3 milyong indibidwal o 102% ng ating target na populasyon ang bakunado na laban sa COVID-19 habang 1.5 milyong indibidwal naman ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang booster shots. Sa kabilang banda, 450 libong senior citizens o 90% ng ating target A2 population ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang primary series.
Mula Hulyo 14-20, 2024, 21 na bagong kaso ang naitala sa rehiyon. Ang average na bilang ng bagong kaso kada araw ngayong linggo ay nasa 3, mas mababa ng 30% kung ikukumpara sa mga kaso noong Hulyo 07-13, 2024. Sa mga bagong kaso, 2 ang naitalang may malubha at kritikal na karamdaman. Samantala, 9 ang naitalang pumanaw sa datos ng Hulyo 14-20, 2024.
Pinapaalalalahan ang lahat na huwag maging kampante sa banta ng COVID-19. Bagkus, dapat natin ipagpatuloy ang tamang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards. Paalala ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan na laging magsuot ng best-fitted face mask at kung maaari, manatili sa well-ventilated na mga lugar. Sa oras na makaramdam ng sintomas, AGAD NA MAG-ISOLATE. In celebration of the โNational Disability Rights Weekโ, the Department of Health (DOH) โ Ilocos Region and the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) distributed assistive devices to selected individuals of Pangasinan province during a turn-over ceremony held at the Balin Bolinao Municipal Building on July 18, 2024.
A total of 20 hearing aids worth P40,000 each were donated by the regional office to persons with disabilities (PWDs) with hearing impairment and 60 wheelchairs were donated by ITRMC and Latter-Day Saints Charities.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the distribution of assistive devices, such as hearing aids, is a special project of the regional office and part of the agency's support for PWDs.
โBinibigay namin ito sa mga individuals na may severe-to-profound hearing loss lalo na sa mga bata. Hearing disabilities can greatly impact each personโs ability to communicate, to learn, and to engage in society. These hearing aids can assist them in their daily activities and can restore and enhance their ability to hear and communicate.,โ stated.
โRegardless of their disability, they are valued members of our community. Kailangan natin silang tulungan at bigyan ng pagkakataong makapamuhay ng normal at makapag-aral ng maayos para sa kanilang kinabukasan,โ she emphasized.
The identified beneficiaries of hearing aids were from the towns of Basista, Urbiztondo, Aguilar, Lingayen, Mangatarem, Labrador, Tayug, Binmaley, Urdaneta City, and Alaminos City.
An orientation on the proper use of hearing aids was also conducted including a free hearing test and assessment for individuals with hearing impairments.
The customized wheelchairs were given to recipients who have previously undergone a specific fitting process to precisely measure the contours and shape of their body. It is designed for the userโs requirements, providing maximum comfort, balance, and posture.
The distribution of assistive devices was done in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and the Bolinao LGU.

The Department of Health (DOH) โ Ilocos Region donated anti-dengue supplies including misting machines, backpack sprayers and insecticides and olyset nets worth P31,539 million pesos to local government units (LGUs) to complement vector control measures in the communities during an outbreak in a turn-over ceremony held in Bauang, La Union on July 12, 2024.
โWe are giving away these anti-dengue supplies to LGUs so that they can undertake their own misting operations, but only when there is a need for it,โ Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated in her message.
She reminded LGUs that the use of misting machines is only a way to supplement the elimination of adult dengue-carrying mosquitoes but not the larvae. โThe best and absolute solution to stop the spread of dengue is to follow the 4S of DOHโs Anti-Dengue Campaign.โ
โImportante na maging malinis ang ating kapaligiran upang ang mga lamok ay walang mapagpugaran. Preventive and control actions must begin from us and the rest will follow together with the support of our partners and stakeholders in health, we can stop the spread and eliminate dengue in the community.โ
A total of 44 pressurized battery-operated blower and sprayer ultra-low volume machines worth P441,000 each were distributed along with 600 bottles of insecticide worth P13,225/bottle. About 300 rolls of Olyset nets worth P14,000 each were also provided.
Regional Communicable Disease Prevention Unit Head, Dr. Rhuel C. Bobis emphasized the most effective way to lessen dengue is by seeking and destroying mosquito breeding places. โIpagpatuloy po natin ang ating mga community clean-up activities at tayo po ay mag-umpisa sa paglilinis sa paligid ng ating bahay para makaiwas sa dengue.โ
Bobis also explained that only identified LGUs who have recorded an increase in cases were given supplies to be used in their anti-dengue elimination activities. He also assured that the remaining LGUs will also be provided in due time.
Among the selected LGUS in Ilocos region who received the supplies were Balungao, Bugallon, Lingayen, Bayambang, Binmaley, Calasiao, Labrador, Infanta and Manaoag in the province of Pangasinan; Agoo, San Fernando City, Bauang, Naguilian and Tubao in La Union; Quirino, Gregorio del Pilar, Tagudin, Candon City and Alilem in Ilocos Sur; Adams, Sarrat, Batac City, Piddig, Pagudpod, Badoc, San Nicolas, Solsona, Laoag City, Carasi, Pinili, Bacarra, Dingras, Pasuquin, Currimao, Rosario, Burgos, Marcos, Bangui, Paoay and Vintar in Ilocos Norte.
DOH Administrative Order No. 2018-0021 recommends fogging or spraying in hotspot areas where an increase in cases is registered for two consecutive weeks to prevent an impending outbreak.

| DOH provides hearing aids, wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in Pangasinan

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) โ To celebrate โNational Disability Rights Week,โ the Department of Health (DOH) in the Ilocos Region partnered with the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) to distribute assistive devices to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Pangasinan.
The turnover ceremony, held on July 18, 2024, at the Balin Bolinao Municipal Building, provided much-needed support to individuals with hearing loss and mobility challenges.
The DOH regional office donated 20 hearing aids, valued at P40,000 each, to those with severe-to-profound hearing impairments.

Mula sa suporta ng United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) at Relief International, nabigyan ng kapasidad ang mahigit 3,000 Barangay Health Workers sa pamamagitan ng mga Social Mobilizers na kasalukuyang naka-deploy sa iba't ibang Lokal na Pamahalaan. Layunin ng proyektong ito na mas mapabuti ang pakikipag ugnayan ng mga Barangay Health Workers at Community Volunteers sa komunidad, at pataasin ang saklaw ng pagbabakuna. Kasama ang mga Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) at Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) ay sinasanay sila ng mga deployed Social Mobilizers upang sila ay maging lokal na bersyon sa kani-kanilang komunidad.
Itinuturo sa aktibidad na ito ang kahalagaan ng bakuna sa sanggol, pagsunod sa tamang iskedyul ng pagbabakuna, at kung paano maiwasan ang iba't ibang nakakahawang mga sakit katulad ng tigdas, polio, pertussis, diphtheria, tuberculosis, pneumonia, at iba pa.
Kasalukuyang inilalagay ng UNICEF at Relief International ang mga social mobilizers nito sa mga prayoridad na mga lalawigan upang magbigay ng tulong kasama ang Provincial Health Offices, Provincial Department of Health Offices, at City/Municipal Health Offices.
Ang mahusay at epektibong pakikipag-ugnayan sa komunidad ay nakakatulong upang mas-mapabuti ang access sa immunization services at maiparating ang tamang impormasyon sa komunidad. Nagbibigay rin ito ng kumpiyansa para ibahagi ang tamang pamumuno, pagpaplano at pagpapatupad ng mga inisyatiba sa usaping pangkalusugan.
Hindi protektado ang bata kung hindi kumpleto ang bakuna. Bawat uri ng bakuna ay may inirerekomendang bilang ng doses na dapat makuha. Kung hindi ito kumpleto, hindi mabubuo ang proteksiyon ng bata laban sa mga sakit.

The DOH Ilocos CHD and Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and the Municipal Governent of Bolinao, distributed assistive devices to selected individuals in Pangasinan during a turn-over ceremony held at the Balin Bolinao Municipal Building on July 18, 2024.
The activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Apolonia DG. Bacay, Board Member 1st District Pangasinan, Hon. Alfonso F. Celeste, Mayor of Bolinao, and Dr. Paula Paz M. Sydiongco, Regional Director of CHD Ilocos.
In celebration of the โNational Disability Rights Weekโ, 73 units of customized wheelchairs, 20 hearing aids and other assistive devices were distributed during the event. An orientation on the proper use of hearing aids was done including hearing test and assessment.

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) โ The Department of Health (DOH) in the Ilocos Region provided P31.5 million worth of anti-dengue supplies to local government units (LGUs) to bolster vector control efforts in their communities.
The turnover ceremony, held on July 12, 2024, in Bauang, La Union, included misting machines, backpack sprayers, insecticides, and olyset nets.
โThese supplies are intended to supplement LGUsโ misting operations, but only when necessary,โ said DOH-Region 1 Regional Director, Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco.

Sa kalahati ng taon, mahigit 200,000 dosis na ng Routine Vaccines ang naipamahagi sa mga chikiting para sa proteksyon sa mga nakakahawang sakit katulad ng tigdas, polio, tuberculosis, hepa, pertussis, diptheria, tetanus at iba pa.
Nakapagtala na ang Region 1 ng 35,885 Fully Immunized Children sa pinagsamang pagtutulungan ng mga Lokal na opisyal, Municipal/City Health Officers, Nurses, Midwives, Barangay Health Workers at iba pang development partners.
Inilulunsad ng bawat bayan ang Reaching-Every-Purok (REP) Strategy upang matamo ang layunin na makamit ang 95% Fully Immunized Child sa ating rehiyon. Tinatayang 100,000 na chikiting 1 year old pababa ang nais abutin ng sektor ng kalusugan.
Ang routine vaccines para sa mga sanggol at special population ay libre sa pinakamalapit na health center.
Ang programang ito ay naaayon sa Health Sector 8-Point Agenda No. 2: Ligtas, dekalidad at mapagkalingang serbisyo; at No. 5: Pag-iwas sa Sakit, ng DOH na may tagline โSa Healthy Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay ay Mahalaga.โ
Sama-sama nating pangalagaan ang kalusugan ng mga batang Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng pagsulong ng ligtas na kapaligiran para sa mga nagpapasusong ina!

DOH Ilocos CHD, through the Communicable Diseases Unit, conducted the Turn-over of Vector Control Commodities and Orientation on the Use of Misting Machine and Backpack Sprayer for LGUs in Region 1 last July 12, 2024 in Bauang, La Union.
Regional Director of Ilocos CHD, Dr. Paula Paz M. Sydiongco and the Head of Disease Prevention and Control Section, Dr. Rheuel C. Bobis attended the ceremony and gave their commitment in supporting the Aedes Born Viral Disease Program in the region. A total of 41 City/Municipal Health Offices and 4 Provincial Health Offices received misting machines, sprayers, and other vector control commodities.
In addition, an orientation on the use of Misting Machine and Backpack Sprayer, Demonstration and Return Demonstration was done ensure proper use of the machines.
IN PHOTOS: The Family Health Unit, thru the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Program, conducted the 2 batches of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on Family Planning Competency-Based Training Level 1 (FPCBT-1) last July 8-12, 2024 in San Juan, La Union.
The OSCE is the final phase of training for the FPCBT-1 proficiency certification, competency-based training for health workers focuses on developing the skills, knowledge and attitude and values required to provide quality family planning services.
IN PHOTOS: The Environmental and Occupational Health Unit consucted a verification of Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) Status of Sta. Barbara and Alcala, Pangasinan last July 10-11, 2024.
The ZOD initiative aims for households to abandon the practice of open defecation and are using either their own or others' sanitary toilet facilities. As a result, no human f***s can be found exposed in the environment.
