“𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐬 𝐨 𝐍𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐚𝐧, 𝐒𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐛𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐧?”

Taong 1972, nabaliktad ang mundo ng Pilipinas nang pirmahan ng dating pangulong Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. ang Proklamasyon Numero 1081: ang pagpapailalim ng bansa sa Martial Law o Batas Militar. Nakaayon ang kanyang proklamasyon sa ika-1935 na Konstitusyon ng Pilipinas, sa ilalim ng Artikulo VII, Seksyon 11, na isinasaad na ang pangulo ay maaaring maging punong-kumander ng sandatahang lakas ng Pilipinas, at kung ito ay kinakailangan, maaari niyang tawagan ang naturang sandatahang lakas upang pigilan o sugpuin ang walang batas na karahasan, pagsalakay, pag-aalsa, paghihimagsik, o napipintong panganib nito. Kapag ang kaligtasan ng publiko ay nangangailangan nito, maaari niyang suspindihin ang mga pribilehiyo ng writ of habeas corpus, o ang paglagay sa Pilipinas o anumang bahagi nito sa ilalim ng batas militar.

Ngayong Setyembre 21, 2024 ang ika-52 na anibersaryo ng pagpapahayag ng Batas Militar sa ating bansa. Upang gunitain ang mga kaganapan noong taong 1972 at ang mga biktima nito ay nag-organisa ang Baitang 12 ng HUMSS nang nakaraang araw ng isang commemorative photo museum na pinamagatang “Red Room”–isang repleksyon sa dugong naisakripisyo para sa inaasam na kalayaan; kung paano naging p**a ang dating puti–kung saan ginunita kasama ng mga estudyante mula Baitang 7 hanggang 12 ang mga naganap noong mga panahon ng Batas Militar. Ang First Quarter Storm, Diliman Commune, Plaza Miranda Bombing, Pagpaslang kay Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino, at ang EDSA People Power Revolution ay ilan sa mga mahahalagang pangyayaring binigyang pansin ng museo. Sa pagtatapos ng photo exhibit ay inawit ang kantang ‘Awit ng Petiburges (May Panahon)’ ni B**g Ramilo. Samantala, ang primaryang layunin ng Red Room ay ang pag-alala sa mga taong tumindig at taas-noong hinarap at kinalaban ang bakal na kamao ng pamumuno ni Marcos sa kabila ng kamalayan ng kanilang kahihinatnan.

Ang kanilang mga pangalan na nakaukit sa Bantayog ng mga Bayani na isang monumento sa Quezon City ay ang nagsisilbing memorya at paggunita sa kanilang pagka-bayani at walang sukdulang pagtawag at pagsigaw para sa kalayaan at demokrasya. Ang dugong dumanak sa mga lupang ating tinatayuan ngayon, ang ating nakamit na paglaya mula sa kamay ng isang diktador, at ang tinatamasa nating mga taon sa pagkawala ng dilim na kinubli sa likod ng puting gusali ng Palasyo ng Malacañang—iyon ay nasa ating mga kamay.

Bagamat may tanong pa rin na umaalingawngaw sa katahimikan ng kasalukuyan, ang huling yugto ng istasyon sa museo: “May nagbago ba?” Mula noong 1986 na nagsama-sama ang mga Pilipino mula sa iba’t-ibang sektor ng lipunan at dinagsa ang malawak na kalye ng EDSA, mula sa halos 20 na taong sakripisyo ng ating kapwa Pilipinong dugo’t pawis ang kapalit, at mula sa mga madidilim na taon ng Batas Militar na tila’y baon na rin sa limot at konteksto ng nakaraan—tayo ba ay tunay nang malaya mula sa kamay ng lumipas? O tayo ay nakakulong parin sa animo’y amnesia?

Sa araw na ito, ating tandaan at huwag kalimutan ang mga nagdaang taon na karahasan sa ilalim ng Batas Militar. Kaya’t sama-sama nating ipahayag: “Never forget, never again!”

September 19, 2024 — Today marks the celebration of the 178th anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of La Salette to the two children, Maximin Giraud and Mélanie Calvat, in the small village of La Salette, France.

The apparition of Our Lady of La Salette delivers a powerful message of reconciliation, urging individuals to turn back to God and seek forgiveness. Her message, consisting of nine distinct appeals, touches upon the importance of faith, repentance, and compassion. This message reminds us that the path to peace and unity begins with personal conversion and reconciliation with God.

September 18, 2024 - The monthly mass of the School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc., (SOLS) was well celebrated at the Our Lady of La Salette Quasi-Parish Church this morning at 8 AM with all faculty members and grade levels in attendance.

It was accompanied by the celebration of the last day of the novena of Our Lady of La Salette.

Fr. Marlon David, OSA led the Holy Mass. In his homily, he shared that not everyone succeeds by chance; sometimes they fail first and struggle, and sometimes you have to work harder.

The mass ended well, with the students participating in the donations for the outreach program and the flower offering to Our Lady of La Salette.

Yesterday, following the cancellation of classes, the 8 a.m. mass scheduled for September 17 was also postponed. Despite the constant rain, mass was celebrated today as planned.

𝟏𝟕𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧

Armed with faith, a fighting spirit, and support, schools from the parochial vicinity of the Our Lady of La Salette Quasi-Parish (OLLQP) gathered to perform and compete in the 178th Feast of Our Lady of La Salette's Street Dance Competition on September 14, 2024, held at the grounds of OLLQP.

Organized by the Our Lady of La Salette Parish Commissioners, the event featured performances from Muzon Harmony Hills High School (MHHHS), Saint Margaret School of San Jose del Monte (SMS), and School of Our Lady of La Salette's (SOLS) dance troupes.

Dancers first engaged in the street dance held around 7 AM from SPPC Mountain View to the front grounds of the OLLSQP, each performing their routines along the way with assistance and guidance from the event's coordinators and safety team.

Showdown performances then followed after a short break with MHHHS performing first, followed by SMS, and SOLS.

The awarding ceremony occurred shortly after, with SOLS bringing home Best in Costume and SMS for Best in Street Dance. For the showdown performances, 3rd Place went to SMS, 2nd Place for SOLS, and 1st Place for MHHHS each with their own cash prize.

Reverend Father Joseph Fidel Roura expressed his gratitude to the organizers, participants, attendees, and investors and raised the cash prizes for the winners.

The program ended with the hosts' invitation for the 5 PM Novena and 6 PM Mass and encouraged any youths in the audience to join the Parish Youth Commission and communications team.

𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐒 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐧'𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲

On this fateful and eventful day, the School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc., gathered its faculty, students, and staff on September 9, 2024 at the Angelo King's Court in celebration of the School Principal and Directress Sister Marilyn J. Antonio, SNDS, PhD, with warm greetings and joyful activities.

With the leadership and preparations of the new batch of KANLUNGAN officers, the program began with the opening remarks of T. Ma. Theresa L. Garces, LPT, MaEd, where she recounted her relationship with the celebrant over the years. Selected students and teachers from each grade level were also given the chance to greet Sr. Marilyn with their well wishes, along with a gift of sunflowers, her favorite flower before explaining that sunflowers are her favorite flower due to their ability to result in the growth of plenty of others before it withers away.

In lieu of the celebration, Salettinians got to know Sr. Marilyn better through T. Theresa's round of trivia questions that focused on the celebrant's life before her service. Selected students from elementary and high school also performed intermission numbers for Sr. Marilyn, with elementary students Zian Diaz and Daniel Engo showing their talent in singing and Chase Maribbay and Patricia Lamberte sweeping the dance floor.

The program ended with all Salettinians singing Sr. Marilyn a happy birthday song, blowing of candles, and recognition of the newly-elected Elementary and High School KANLUNGAN officers for the School Year 2024 - 2025.

Today, on September 8, we celebrate the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her motherly love for her Son, Jesus Christ, and for every child shows her care and compassion to guide us to the right path and spread peace across the globe.

May the Queen of Heaven's message of reconciliation and penance echo within each person and open our hearts to the love of Jesus, her Son.

These are only some of the few titles we deem our educators as. Be that as it may, no recognition will ever repay the debt of their wisdom that armed us for the future endeavors we face.

They are the ones who sow the seeds of identity within all learners and nurture us until we are ready to blossom beyond the grasp of our classrooms, even at the cost of their own petals. Their nest warms us with safety and comfort, feeding us the knowledge and courage to move forward. Once we are ready to take our first flight, they stand proud of what we have accomplished but are always ready to catch us if we fall.

In this year's National Teacher's Month celebrated from September 5 to October 5, let us honor the dedication and determination of each teacher to mold the minds and inspire the hearts of every student. May their service be fueled with love and devotion to prepare future generations for the harsh realities of life and serve as a reminder that the greatest revolutionary act a person can do is to be compassionate towards others.

𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍: 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐊 Under the advisory of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the City of Bulacan and with the authority of Gov. Daniel R. Fernando has declared the suspension of classes of all levels in both public and private schools today, September 2, 2024.

The recommendation was initiated by the heavy rainfall from Typhoon Enteng.

Matagumpay na idinaos ng School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. (SOLS) ang pampinid na palatuntunan ng Buwan ng Wika na may temang "Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya." Ito ay ginanap sa Angelo King Court noong Agosto 29, 2024.

Nagkaroon ng dalawang programa ang pagdiriwang na ito. Isa para sa antas ng elementarya at isa para sa sekondarya. Nagsilbing punong tagapagdaloy ng programa sa elementarya ay sina Gng. Jessiebeth L. Boncales at Bb. Shairen D. Villanueva, LPT, habang sina Bb. Cherry F. Ballesteros, LPT, at Bb. Rachelle T. Yasay, LPT naman sa sekondarya.

Ang mga mag-aaral at g**o ay nagbihis ng tradisyunal na kasuotan ng mga Filipino, na sagisag ng pagiging makabayan at ng kulturang Pilipino. Makikita ang iba't ibang pambansang kasuotan tulad ng barong, Filipiñana, baro't saya, kimona, at marami pang iba.

Nagtagisan din ng talento ang mga mag-aaral sa iba't ibang aktibidad na inilunsad ng SOLS bilang bahagi ng selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Wika. Kabilang dito ang paglikha ng poster, pagkulay ng larawan, paggawa ng islogan, masining na pagkukwento, pagsulat ng sanaysay, pagbigkas ng tula, at spoken poetry. Ang mga patimpalak ay isinagawa sa kani-kanilang silid-aralan at ginanap sa buong buwan ng Agosto.

Binigyang parangal ang mga nagwagi sa iba't ibang kompetisyon. Ang mga sertipiko ay ipiniresenta nina Sr. Marilyn J. Antonio, SNDS, Ph.D., punong-g**o ng SOLS, at Gng. Ma. Theresa L. Garces, LPT, MAIE.

Ipinakita ng bawat baitang sa elementarya ang kanilang mga talento sa pamamagitan ng iba't ibang pagtatanghal. Dagdag pa rito, ang mga nagkamit ng unang karangalan sa pagbigkas ng tula at pag-awit ng Original Pilipino Music (OPM) ay nagtanghal sa entablado. Hindi rin nagpahuli ang mga mag-aaral sa sekondarya—ang mga nagtagumpay sa patimpalak ng tula, spoken poetry, at pag-awit ng OPM ay nagpakitang-gilas din sa mga manonood.

"Alpas Pilipinas" — iyan ang pamagat ng madamdaming piyesa ni Chardz Cedric Bautista ng baitang 12-STEM. Ang salitang "alpas" ay tumutukoy sa isang paraan ng paglaya o pagkawala mula sa isang bagay. Ang pagtatanghal ay nagbigay-diin sa kahalagahan ng pagtangkilik sa sariling atin. Sa pagpapahalaga sa Wikang Filipino, ito ay patuloy na pagpupunyagi at mananatiling buhay, anumang unos at pagbabago ng panahon.

Subalit, ang Pilipinas nga ba ay isang bansang alpas? O isa itong bansang pinipilit pa ring kumawala at patuloy na nakararanas ng pagkakulong?

Noong ika-27 ng Agosto 2024, idinaos ang "Meeting de Avance" ng konseho ng mag-aaral, na kilala rin bilang "KANLUNGAN," sa Angelo King Court ng School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. (SOLS). Ang programa ay dinaluhan ng mga mag-aaral mula sa antas ng sekondarya.

Pinangunahan ni G. Richard V. Soriyao ang okasyon, na itampok ang Hiraya political party—ang nag-iisang grupo para sa sekondarya—na pinangungunahan ni Martha Quitorio, na tumatakbo bilang pangulo.

Nagsimula ang programa sa pagpapakilala ng bawat kandidato at ang mga posisyong nais nilang makuha. Pagkatapos nito, inilahad ng mga kandidato ang kanilang mga plataporma upang hikayatin ang mga mag-aaral at ipakita na sila ay karapat-dapat na pagkatiwalaan.

Matapos ang pagpapaliwanag, sinagot ng bawat kandidato ang mga katanungang inihanda ng punong tagapagdaloy. Tinalakay ang iba’t ibang isyu tulad ng pagpapatupad ng kanilang mga plataporma at tungkulin.

Nagtapos ang programa sa isang talumpati ni Martha Quitorio, pangulo ng partidong Hiraya. Nagpahayag siya ng pasasalamat sa tiwalang ibinigay ng komunidad ng SOLS sa Hiraya. Tinapos niya ang kanyang mensahe sa kanilang tagline na, "Sa Hiraya, May Paglaya."

Ang Meeting de Avance ay nagbigay-daan sa Hiraya political party upang makipag-ugnayan sa buong komunidad ng SOLS at ibahagi ang kanilang mga plano para sa darating na taon ng paaralan.

Mahalagang tandaan na ang pagiging mabuting lider ay hindi nagtatapos sa halalan kundi sa pagtupad ng tungkulin at pananagutan.

Nawa'y manatiling buhay ang kanilang kagitingan at katapangan sa ating mga puso bilang alab sa bituin ng araw na kailan pa ma'y hindi magdidilim.

Naalarma ang mga Pilipino dahil sa nagkalat na sakit, isa na rito ang bagong kaso o paglitaw ng isang impeksyon na natagpuan sa Pilipinas na tinatawag na “Monkeypox” o MPOX. Ayon sa Department of Health o DOH, nakumpirma ang isang kaso ng bagong variant sa Pilipinas noong ika-19 ng Agosto taong kasalukuyan. Ito ay matagal nang hindi naitala sa bansa, ngunit kamakailan lamang ito ay natagpuan sa isang middle-aged na lalaki. Ang MPOX ay bihirang maganap at ang mga sintomas nito ay ang mga karaniwang sakit ng isang tao. Mayroon ding ilang mga kaso ang natuklasan sa ibang mga bansa, partikular sa bansa ng Africa.

Ang MPOX ay hindi karaniwang sakit na matatagpuan sa Pilipinas. Maaaring makakuha ng isang indibidwal ang sakit na ito sa pamamagitan ng pisikal na pakikipag-ugnayan at respiratory droplets o oral fluid ng taong apektado. Ang mga sintomas nito ay kinabibilangan ng lagnat, pantal, pananakit ng lalamunan, kalamnan at ulo, panghihina, at pamamaga ng lymph nodes. Ito rin ay may dalawang uri o tinatawag na clades. Ang ika-una ay ang Clade I, ito ay kilala bilang malalang uri ng MPOX, habang ang ikalawang uri naman ay ang Clade II kung saan naging sanhi ito ng global outbreak noong taon ng 2022. Ito ay hindi gaanong malala kaysa sa Clade I at higit sa 99.9% ng mga tao ang nakaligtas.

Tinatawag na self-limited disease ang MPOX, ibig sabihin ay gumagaling ito kalaunan nang walang espesyal na gamot. Ang mga sintomas nito ay maaaring tumagal ng dalawa o apat na linggo. Sa pagbibigay medikasyon dito, maaaring bigyan ng gamot upang malunasan ang mga sintomas ng pasyente upang mapagaling agad ito. Sinabi rin ng World Health Organization o WHO, na maaaring makatulong ang pagkuha ng bakuna para sa MPOX upang maiwasan ang impeksyon. Gayunpaman, patuloy pa rin ang pag-aaral ng mga eksperto at propesyonal sa larangan ng medisina upang mas mapagtagumpayan ang sakit na ito.

Bilang pag-alala sa ika-41 anibersaryo ng kamatayan ni dating Senador Benigno "Ninoy" Simeon Aquino Jr., noong Agosto 21, 1983, ipinagdiriwang ang Ninoy Aquino Day bilang ‘Non-working Holiday’ na iniusad ni Pangulong Ferdinand "B**gbong" Marcos Jr. sa Agosto 23.

Batay ito sa Proclamation No. 665 na itinalaga ng Palasyo ng Malacañang na naglalayong ilipat ang naturang araw mula Agosto 21, Miyerkules, sa Agosto 23, Biyernes upang isulong ang lokal na turismo sa bansa.

Matatandaan na ang pagpaslang kay Ninoy Aquino ang nag-udyok sa EDSA People Power Revolution na nagpatalsik sa diktadurang Marcos.

Magsilbi nawang paalala ang araw na ito sa bawat Pilipino na tumindig at ipaglaban ang ating karapatan tungo sa isang bansang malaya at mapagpalaya.

Mga partido sa elementarya ng School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc., sinimulan ang pagkukumpanya sa bawat baitang sa sektor ng elementarya, Miyerkules, ika-21 ng Agosto taong kasalukuyan.

Ang pangungumpanya ng mga partido ay hangaring ipakilala ang bawat miyembro at gampanin nito. Ibinahagi din nito ang kanilang plataporma na kanilang isusulong kung sakaling sila ay mahalal sa kanilang inaasam na puwesto. Ang mga partidong lumahok sa taunang Eleksyon ay ang mga sumusunod: SMART Party, HOPES Party, at P-POP Party.

Agosto 22, 2024 - Ang School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. ay nagdaos ng Banal na Misa bilang pagdiriwang ng Kapistahan ng Pagkareyna ng Mahal na Birheng Maria. Ang banal na seremonya ay ginanap sa Our Lady of La Salette Quasi-Parish.

Pinangunahan ni Rev. Fr. Joseph Fidel Roura ang Banal na Misa. "Ang pagiging reyna ni Maria ay hindi sa ikapapahamak natin, kundi sa lalo pang ikabubuti natin," iyan ang mga salitang binitiwan ni Fr. Fidel.

Dagdag pa rito, ayon sa bagong kalendaryo ng Simbahan, ang ika-22 ng Agosto ay itinakdang Araw ng Pagkareyna ng Mahal na Birhen, na dati ay ipinagdiriwang tuwing ika-31 ng Mayo. Ang petsang ito ay kasabay din ng pagtatapos ng Oktaba o walong araw matapos ang Dakilang Kapistahan ng Pag-akyat sa Langit ng Mahal na Birheng Maria.

Nagtapos ang Banal na Misa sa pagbibigay ni Fr. Fidel ng isang maliit na rebulto ng Our Lady of La Salette kay Yshana Mae Condag, isang mag-aaral mula sa antas labingdalawa, bilang tanda ng pasasalamat sa patuloy na suporta ng buong komunidad ng SOLS.

“Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.”

This has been a pop**ar saying to generalize people into a fitting category. An expression to give unwarranted judgment to someone; through the mere basis of what we call friends. A somewhat absurd thing to say, because how can we be directly defined just by knowing the people that surround us? But after a lot of thought, understanding, deciphering, and looking at an entirely different angle of perception, maybe this statement is indeed true and sensible.

All our life we try to give justification to our existence. We try to find the answer to the question, “Who am I?” We try to live a life of seeking, finding, and searching. We spend an amicable amount of time to fulfill a void so hollow; questing for pieces to complete ourselves.

Maybe, we, humans are simply a moving mosaic in time. Never frozen, and forever resistant to stagnation. Maybe we truly are a form of matter that weighs and occupies space. We pick a piece of ourselves and paste it on someone else, maybe because we know the feeling of being incomplete, but surely, to forever embed our imprint on someone— an indication that we’ve been here.

Maybe the saying, “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are,” is indeed true. We are a walking sub-definitions of everyone we meet, a patchwork of pieces from the people we love, and a home for shared memories, deep bruises, and elongated dreams.

The years we spent together in the School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. may be considered a wink of a period in this lifetime; but the people we met along the way, the ambitions we created together, the laughter and tears we made along the way, and the teachings that will forever ground us honed a significant part of who we are today. The time we spent shaping ourselves, we unconsciously shaped another, too.

This is the end of an era, the end of our high school and elementary years, but please remember, Graduates of Batch 2023-2024, this is not the finish line. May we continue to prosper and look for answers, may we continue to be curious, and may we continue to inspire others like how this institution graced us the chance to meet and learn from each other.

This is not a good bye.

Sophia Margaret S. Mactal bagged 4th Place in Science Writing (Filipino category) at the 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held in Pampanga High School, today, May 22, 2024.

Mactal placed 3rd at the Division of Secondary Schools Press Conference (DSSPC), which qualified her as a participant at this year's RSPC.

The 2024 RSPC, with the theme: "From Campus Journalism to Real-World Journalist: Shaping Minds from Schools to Societies," for Central Luzon is hosted by the School Division Office (SDO) of San Fernando Pampanga held simultaneously from May 20-22, 2024.

This triumph is a symbol of the dedication, time, effort, and training poured in preparation for the competition. Mactal, together with her coach and the School Paper Adviser (SPA) of the Reconciliatrice, Ms. Ma. Kelsy Beraña, received the award today.

The School of Our Lady of La Salette, Inc. (SOLS, Inc.) achieved its second RSPC title after five years.
