According to WHO, 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙊𝙗𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙋𝙪𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 (𝘾𝙊𝙋𝘿) is currently the third leading cause of death globally, resulting to 3.23 million deaths in 2019.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝑶𝑷𝑫?
Symptoms often don't appear until significant lung damage has occurred, and they usually worsen over time, particularly if smoking exposure continues.

🟠Shortness of breath, especially during physical activities
🟠Wheezing
🟠Chest tightness
🟠A chronic cough that may produce mucus (sputum) that may be clear, white, yellow or greenish
🟠Frequent respiratory infections
🟠Lack of energy
🟠Unintended weight loss (in later stages)
🟠Swelling in ankles, feet or legs

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝑶𝑷𝑫?
🟠Lung (pulmonary) function tests. These tests measure the amount of air you can inhale and exhale, and whether your lungs deliver enough oxygen to your blood.

🟠Chest X-ray. A chest X-ray can show emphysema, one of the main causes of COPD. An X-ray can also rule out other lung problems or heart failure.

🟠CT scan. A CT scan of your lungs can help detect emphysema and help determine if you might benefit from surgery for COPD. CT scans can also be used to screen for lung cancer.

🟠Arterial blood gas analysis. This blood test measures how well your lungs are bringing oxygen into your blood and removing carbon dioxide.

🟠Laboratory tests. Lab tests aren't used to diagnose COPD, but they may be used to determine the cause of your symptoms or rule out other conditions.

🔵Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how the body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose is an important source of energy for the cells that make up the muscles and tissues. It's also the brain's main source of fuel.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒕𝒚𝒑𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒔?
🔵Type 1 Diabetes
-most commonly diagnosed in children and teenagers. It’s an autoimmune condition. When you have type 1 diabetes, your immune system attacks the cells in your pancreas responsible for making insulin.

🔵Type 2 Diabetes
-it happens when your body stops responding to the insulin your pancreas makes. Over time, your pancreas also stops producing enough insulin. It’s generally linked to a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒔?
🔵Fasting Blood Sugar Test
-this measures your blood sugar after an overnight fast (not eating).

🔵HbA1c Test
-a simple blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months.
-it is one of the commonly used tests to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes, and is also the main test to help you and your health care team manage your diabetes.
