Ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), noong nakaraang Abril, sinimulan na umano ang pag-deliver ng 10 milyong piraso ng 1000-Piso polymer banknotes.

Magpapatuloy naman ang pag-deliver sa natitirang 490 million pieces ngayong darating na Oktubre hanggang Hunyo ng taong 2023.

Nakipagsosyo ang BSP sa Note Printing Australia (NPA) sa paunang roll-out ng mga nasabing polymer banknotes.

Sinubukan umano ng BSP ang pag-gamit ng perang polymer dahil ito ay “mas matibay, malinis, mahirap pekehin, sulit, at makakalikasan.” Mas makakatipid rin umano ang taong bayan dahil mas mahaba ang buhay ng perang polymer kung ikukumpara sa perang papel.

But wait, students must get themselves their own personal medical insurance (at least).

The Palace announced that students joining in-person classes must be registered with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) as direct or indirect contributor, or any medical insurance provider to help them cover the expenses by COVID-19.

Is Philhealth enough? Let’s also consider that there are limitations on the coverages provided by the major state insurance provider. Also check other medical insurance providers that provides ease of access on application, affordability, and of course the benefit it provides.

Today, February 28, is 𝗥𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆, a globally coordinated movement for rare diseases.🤍

Rare Disease Day was first launched by the
European Organisation for Rare Diseases
(EURORDIS) and its Council of National
Alliances in 2008 with 18 participating
countries. Since than, over 100 countries
have participated including the Philippines.

In the Philippines, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 1989 signed in 2010, it designated the last week of February to be the National Rare Disease Week (NRDW) which spotlights the concerns of the Filipino rare disease community and aims to raise awareness and public support for people living with rare diseases.

Rare diseases refer to life threatening and chronically debilitating diseases that only affects few individuals in society. Aside from their low prevalence, special combined efforts are needed to address them. Throughout the world, people living with rare disease are among the underserved as they struggle to secure a diagnosis, find treatment, and access care.

The Department of Finance (DOF) is currently 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐬 to pay for the foreign debts the Duterte administration incurred to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

In all, the Philippines borrowed $2 billion (over P102 billion)—$1.2 billion for vaccines and $800 million for booster and pediatric shots—from three multilateral banks last year.

Also, as of end-2021, the Philippines’ public debt-to-GDP ratio climbed to a 16-year high of 60.5 percent, exceeding the 60-percent threshold deemed manageable for emerging markets. The Finance Chief assured that “the spike in our debt-to-GDP ratio is well-within affordability, and well-within our rating peers’ experience” or other economies, which have the similar investment-grade credit ratings as the Philippines.

As the current Duterte administration only has 132 days left in office, what can we expect from our presidential candidates, or rather, 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 presidential candidate?
