OPT-OUT MECHANISM FOR INCOMING FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
This is to officially inform all TSU College Admission Evaluation (TSU-CAE) applicants who received a "not qualified" remark and those who were qualified but failed to confirm their slot that you will be ranked again based on your admission test rating, general weighted average, and socio-economic status.
Results will be available via the TSU-CAT portal (https://cat.tsu.edu.ph) on July 12, 2024.
A certain number of reconsidered applicants will be subjected to the newly approved Opt-Out Mechanism, wherein students will voluntarily pay their tuition and other fees. Not all applicants can be accommodated by TSU due to its absorptive capacity.
The opt-out mechanism is stated in Section 8 of Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017 (Free Tuition Law). This means all state universities and colleges and local universities and colleges in the Philippines can implement such a mechanism.

Continuously providing services to various communities, the College of Engineering โ Department of Civil Engineering (CE Dept) recently conducted a technical consultancy and community outreach entitled: "Design, Fabrication, Installation, and Donation of Collapsible House for Residents in Sitio Paoay" on April 22, 2024.
Spearheaded by Engr. Neil Andrew Meneses, with Engr. Charmaine Czenina Reguindin, Engr. Rizza Gamalinda, Engr. Karl Angelo Clarete and Engr. Ma. Jan Nickole Fernandez-Estrada, with Civil Engineering (CE) students Sherlyn Pascua, Diana Rose Tiangsing, Immarie Jade Mallari, Kelvin Jan Torato, and Neil Alen Libunao, Expert Service Providers (ESPs) developed the foldable temporary house model using Midas Gen Software which analyzes appropriate steel sections and identifies critical structural elements regarding axial force, bending moment, and deformation.
This extension project aims to accommodate people even for a long time by developing a cost-effective foldable, sustainable, and reusable temporary housing unit that can rapidly evacuate individuals from disaster-affected regions.
