October 6, 2023 | 2nd Technical Working Group Meeting
Together with the Technical Working Group (TWG) and Local Chief Executive, as represented by Assistant City Administrator, Mr. Dolph Saavedra and Chairperson of the TWG, as represented by Mr. Michael Saavedra conducted the 2nd TWG meeting at Marcian Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Among the discussions during the meeting is providing updates on the accomplishments of the TWG on the implementation of the program (Annual Investment Plan, Road Safety Symposiums, Local Policies and etc.) and the proposed road crash reporting system presented by Western Mindanao State University, College of Engineering and Technology that was presented by Engr. Junievin Ramillano, CET Instructor together with his students.

September 15, 2023 | Courtesy Visit with Atty. Wendell Sotto
HDES conducted a courtesy visit with the newly assigned City Administrator, Atty. Wendell Sotto led by Policy-Inter Agency Specialist, Mr. Jeamczar Samson, RSW and Communication Officer, Mr. Marc Hipolito.
The team oriented Atty. Wendell Sotto, City Administrator/TWG Chairperson on Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention, Road Safety Program in which he expressed his support and commitment to reduce Road Crash in Zamboanga City specifically the school going children.
In addition, series of activities will be conducted together with the Technical Working Group which has the expertise in the implementation of the program .
Thank you and we are very much looking forward to a continues collaboration to keep our children safe from road crashes. Together let's advocate safer roads for the City of Zamboanga.
August 4, 2023 | Technical Working Group Meeting
Together with the Technical Working Group (TWG) and Local Chief Executive, conducted the 1st TWG meeting on the Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention.
The objective of this meeting is to provide updates to the local chief executive, turnover of accomplishments, presentation of activities per agency, and to discuss concerns and recommendations throughout the implementation of the program.

August 1-2, 2023 | Progress/Update with Cagayan de Oro partners
The project team together with implementing partners of ImagineLaw met with Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy together with City Administrator of Cagayan de Oro, Atty. Roy Hilario P. Raagas and Roads and Traffic Administrator, Engr. Nonito Oclarit to discuss the updates and as well to share good news of what are the accomplishments of Zamboanga City on the Sisterhood Agreement between the two-cities.
As well a visit with implementing partners from Research Institute of Mindanao Culture (RIMCU) to discuss the updates on their courtesy visit per agency on Zamboanga City and on certain activities pertaining the pilot schools.

June 16, 2023 | Orientation of Barangay Chairperson and School Heads on Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention
The project team conducted the said activity together with partners from Department of Education and City Government of Zamboanga City.
The objective of this activity is to orient the school heads and barangay captains of the pilot school to be capacitated and to provide a plan of activities for the next three (3) years in order to help the school of its interventions to make school going children safe going in and from to school.

May 26, 2023 | Presentation on Assessment of DRRM Focal on Star Ratings for Schools
The project team together with funding donor, UNICEF and implementing partners UP-NCTS conducted the Day 2 activity together with the DRRM Focal on SR4S.
The purpose of this activity/workshop is to present their assessment outputs on their respective schools and to be able to provide recommendation as this program should be sustained for the safety of our school going children.
Together let's support and advocate school going children in and and from going to school.
April 25-26, 2023 | Strategic Planning Workshop
The project team together with HDES Consultant, Dr. Jessica Casimiro conducted the two (2) day strategic planning workshop together with partners/stakeholders across the Technical Working Group.
The objective of this workshop is to create a three (3) year plan with activities promoting and advocating road safety through the Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention Program together with the partners and stakeholders.

April 17, 2023 | Courtesy Visit with Department of Education , Dr. Majarani M. Jacinto
Human Development and Empowerment Services Inc. conducted courtesy visit led by Mr. Abdulnaser Tiking (Executive Director) and Mr. Junpicar Dalus (CRTIP Officer).
HDES asked for support of DepEd in the program that the team will implement for the duration of the project which Dr. Jacinto, which gladly supports together with Mr. Basilio Uy.
The implementers will be conducting series of activities to the 75 target school with the support of DepEd, Teachers, DRRM Focal and Students.
Thank you and we are looking forward to a continues collaboration to keep our children safe from road crashes on their journey to and on schools.
February 23, 2023 Inception Workshop |The Human Development and Empowerment Services (HDES) in partnership with City Government of Zamboanga City with fund support from United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) in continuance to the implementation of the Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention Program (CRTIP) now on it's 3rd phase, entitled "Building Sustainable Models for Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention in selected sites in Mindanao".
The Inception Workshop was conducted last February 23, 2023 at Jade Hall, Grand Astoria Hotel to plan future activities to help school going children safe in their journey in going to and in from schools.

January 27, 2023 | First Engagement with Cagayan de Oro together with fellow implementers from Imagine Law
Imagine Law and HDES with their first engagement with Cagayan de Oro for the program "Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention" as they conducted courtesy visits with Office of the Mayor and Cagayan de Oro's very own Technical Working Group.
United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) works worldwide to improve child pedestrian safety and ensure safe passages to school together with it's implementing partners University of the Philippines - National Center for Transportation Studies (UP-NCTS), Imagine Law and HDES.
Imagine Law and with the support of HDES on their good practices oriented the members of the propose Technical Working Group on Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention Program, Star Ratings for Schools and the Propose Ordinance for Road Safety for Cagayan de Oro City. This Technical Working Group is headed by Engr. Nonito Oclarit of Roads and Traffic Administrator.
And, also Imagine Law and HDES paid a courtesy call with Cagayan de Oro City Hon. Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy. The Hon. Mayor Uy is on board and full support on the program and is very delighted on the propose sisterhood agreement with Zamboanga City, and is open for the partnership in line with Road Safety.

United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) works worldwide to improve child pedestrian safety and ensure safe passages to school together with it's implementing partners University of the Philippines - National Center for Transportation Studies (UP-NCTS), Imagine Law and HDES.
The program already piloted in two (2) cities ,Valenzuela City and Zamboanga City. That includes the next phase of the program involving the expansion to two (2) more pilot cities - Angeles City and Cagayan de Oro City. The courtesy visits includes building a sisterhood partnership with Zamboanga City and Cagayan de Oro City to share good practices and to implement the CRTIP program including the Star Ratings for Schools.

September 1-2 | DRRM Focal of the 25 Pilot School
Together with our partners from Department of Education, to our school heads, principals, teachers and focal. HDES is truly grateful to your continuous commitment and support in both educating and advocating Road Safety to our children, especially school going children.
And with the resumption of the face-to-face classes, our school going children are yet more vulnerable on the streets. With the help of the teachers in guiding, we can surely lessen road crash injuries and make road safer for our children.
Once again, HDES is thanking our teachers in educating our children in Road Safety. Let's make our road safer!
July 27-28 | HDES has been been supporting and providing secretariat work with Zamboanga City since 2019 to develop a Road Safety Ordinance with the support of ImagineLaw as resource persons in technical and legal assistance and UNICEF.
In this two (2) - day workshop, the Technical Working Group with their recommendations and the understanding road safety principles including the Safe System Approach developed interventions in creating an Road Safety Ordinance well fit to the City of Zamboanga.
We are very much thankful to ImagineLaw, UNICEF, City Government of Zamboanga, Academe partners and other National Partner Agencies for their invaluable contribution to the workshop in passing the Road Safety Ordinance for the benefit of our children in Zamboanga City. Let's pass this Road Safety Ordinance💪

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS that we inform the public of the passing of Arturo "Tuting" Cabidog Jr., Administrative Officer V under the City Legal Office. He was 52 years old.
Cabidog passed away this morning, July 28. He was the highly valued president of the Zamboanga City Government Employees Association (ZCGEA) and member of the Tricycle Adjudication Board (TAB), and a trusted colleague and friend to all in City Hall.
Details of his funeral will be announced later.
The City Government and Mayor John Dalipe express sincere condolences to the family. May his soul rest in peace.

July 25 | Human Development and Empowerment Services together with Dr. Angelito Umali of UNICEF, Dr. Ricardo Sigua of UP-NCTS and the team of ImagineLaw together Atty. Daphne Marcel, Atty. Joan Dela Cruz and Atty. Reina Fabregas did a courtesy visit with the Office of the City Mayor, Vice Mayor Pinpin Pareja and members of the City Council and at the same time during the 2nd Public Session, the team advocate them on Road Safety Program and in drafting the Proposed Road Safety Ordinance of Zamboanga City. In addition, the City Council and the Local Chief Executive shows supports on drafting and sponsoring the Road Safety Ordinance of Zamboanga City.
