As part of American Heart Association and CPSP Life Savers HandsOnly CPR campaign, Abbottabad International Medical Institute with the collaboration of Abbottonians Medical Association organized a training session on 31st October at the main Entrance/Reception, AIMI. Faculty, Medical Officers, House Officers, Medical Students, Dental Surgery Assistants, Nurses, Security and Support staff learnt the skills of HandsOnly CPR using the protocol - Check, Call and Compress.
Instructors included Dr. Noaman Siddiqui, Prof. Ejaz Afzal, Prof. Samia Shad, Dr. Tahira Arif, Dr. Khola Basit, Dr. Zainab Khuzema, Dr. Sadia Faitma, Dr. Tuba Fatima and Dr. Mohammad Abdullah.
American Heart Association

Breast Cancer Awareness session was held on Monday 30th October, jointly organized by Pink Ribbon and DME, AIMI. Dr. Ayesha Khan, Consultant Breast Surgeon delivered a talk regarding this years' theme 'Keep Her in the Picture', followed by question & answer session. Faculty, staff, students, team from Rescue 1122, students from Women Institute of Learning attended the session. Bake Sale stalls were also placed at the main entrance of AIMI, proceeds from which will go towards the construction of Pink Ribbon Hospital, Lahore.

The senior administration of AIMI visited the Rescue 1122 department and praised their hard work. As a gesture of support, they offered to provide professional medical services to the department specifically for trainings in Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) courses.

The students of 3rd year and 4th year MBBS were given different pathology topics for Poster and Model competition that inculded Covid, Tuberculosis, Anemia,Thromboembolism, Vaccines, Carcinogens,
GIT malignancies.

An exhibition was held on 7th September at AIMC and students were awarded certificates for various positions.Students and faculty members visited the stalls in large numbers. A prize distrubution ceremony was at the end. Prof. Mohammad Akbar, Principal AIMC, Prof.Ali Fawwad HoD Pathology, Prof. Dr Gull e Atif and Brig. Arshad Wahab spoke on the occasion. It was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their talent and creatively.The exhibition proved that doctors are not mere physicians but artists as well.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Course was organized by the Department of Medical Education, AIMI on 28th August 2023 at Advanced Skills Development Center. The Course was conducted as per latest guidelines of American Heart Association (AHA).
The Instructors of the course included Dr. Noaman Siddiqui, Director DME & Lead Instructor AHA, Dr. Saadia Rehman, Deputy Director DME, Dr. Tahira Arif, Assistant Prof. Orthodontics, Dr. Khola Basit, Demonstrator AIDC and Dr. Sadia Fatima, Coordinator ASDC.
Participants included TMOs, MOs, HOs, nurses and paramedical staff of Abbottabad Medical Complex.
Pre-test of the participants was held, that was followed by presentations and practical session that covered the following learning outcomes: -

 Assess a patient who has suddenly collapsed and call emergency medical services
 Recognize sign & symptoms of heart attack and use Aspirin for cardiac chest pain
 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on an Adult, Child and Infant
 Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely
 Insert an oro-pharyngeal (OPA) airway on the given manikin
 Apply various types of oxygen masks and perform suction maneuvers
 Carry out the FAST assessment for a patient suspected of having a Stroke
 Recognize signs of a choking patient and use appropriate techniques to clear the airway

In the end post-test was held followed by skill test

World No To***co Day was celebrated on 31st May at Abbottabad International Medical Institute. WHO theme for year 2023 was "We Need Food Not To***co".
Poster & One Minute Film Making competition was also held at this occasion. Students of AIMI staged a skit named "Tambaku ka Tamasha".
Prof. Ruqiya Sultana, eminent Gynaecologist was the Chief Guest, while Dr. Sadia Fatima, Director, Khyber Medical University, Hazara campus was the Guest of honour. Certificates and Shields were awarded to the winners of poster & media competition, judges and the organisers.

International Thalassaemia Day was jointly celebrated by Abbottonians Medical Association and The Volunteers Group (TVG), AIMI on 8th May 2023.
Free Medical & Dental clinic was organized in which around 40 Thalassaemia fighters were provided free consultation by the following experts in various specilties.

Prof. Samia Shad, Consultant Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon,

Other members of the team included Dr. Noaman Siddiqui, Director DME,

Dr. Sadia Fatima, Demonstrator, AIDC
Dr. Junaid, Demonstrator, AIDC.
Lab investigations like Blood CP, Screening against HBV, HCV, HIV, LFTs, RFTs, serum Ferritin along with Echocardiography was provided free of cost.
Members of TVG from 1st year MBBS & BDS actively participated in the event and did all the decor of the premises. Games were organized for the kids and all were presented with gifts. Members from Jihad for Zero Thalassaemia (JZT), Women Institute of Learning and SMT, Haripur also attended the event. The day concluded with cake cutting and refreshments.

It is notified that the classes will remain suspended till 14th May 2023.

However the Hospital will remain open & will provide all services as per routine.

All administrative offices in the college will also remain open.
