First meeting of the Board of Faculty, of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Science took place on Thursday 30th June. Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar, Dean, Faculty of PMS, and Director, Institute of Physics, chaired the meeting. Dr. Buzdar, welcomed all the members and briefed about the objectives of the new faculty. He emphasised on the academic progression of the new faculty, as per vision of the worthy Vice Chancellor. Various agenda items, from department of Geography, Mathematics, and Institute of Physics were discussed in details, and decisions were made. The cases related to admissions, synopsis and referees of M Phil and PhD were forwarded to ASRB for final approval, while the academic matters including curriculum, launching of journal, logo of IOP, and other such matters were recommended and forwarded to Academic council for further processing and approval. The chair thanked all the members for their valuable contribution.

On June 15, 2022, Director Institute of Physics (and Dean Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences) Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar appreciated the efforts of Institutional curriculum upgradation committee (ICUC) and distributed the souvenirs and certificates to the members of ICUC for upgrading the curricula of IoP, physics departments of university’s sub campuses and its affiliated colleges. ICUC consists of faculty members of Institute of Physics Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain (Focal Person), Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Khawar (Senior Member), Dr. Muhammad Irfan (Member), and Mr. Sibtain Raza Khan (Member). ICUC upgraded the curricula of BS, M Phil and PhD programs after having a thorough study of the modern curricula of physics departments of international universities like Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge etc. ICUC did not leave a single stone unturned to make clear and comprehensive curricula which cover all the departments (which are functional in IoP), by having a series of committed and focused meetings. ICUC hopes that these curricula will help the nation to compete the students of international universities.

Board of Studies (BoS) meeting of Institute of Physics conducted at Institute of Physics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The BoS meeting was chaired by the Director IOP, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar and was attended by the distinguished BoS members, including Prof. Javed Iqbal, from GOVT S.E. college Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. M Shahid from GOVT S.E. College Bahawalpur, Head Department of Physics, GOVT Graduate College Baghdad Road Bahawalpur and Head Department of Physics, GOVT Graduate college for women Dubai Mahal Road, Bahawalpur. Internal members besides the Director IOP, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar: Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain, Dr. Faisal Iqbal, Head Department of Physics Bahawalnagar Campus and Head Department of Physics Rahim Yar Khan Campus attended the meeting. The BoS meeting of Institute of Physics has discussed, reviewed and recommended different academic matters including Approval M.Phil/PhD Examiners and Approval of logo for Institute of Physics and Pakistain Journal of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Board members gave valuable suggestion and unanimously agreed on the recommendations. Chair, later, thanked the distinguished members for their valuable input for academic good.

اِس سائنسی تقریب میں نا صرف پاکستان بلکہ پوری دنیا کے نامور سائنسدانوں نے حصہ لیا۔ جن میں قابلِ ذکر ڈاکٹر اشفاق احمد، نیشنل سینٹر برائے فزکس، اسلام آباد، ڈاکٹر رضوان خالد، لاہور یونیورسٹی آف مینجمنٹ سائنسز، ڈاکٹر مہر علی شاہ، یورپ کونسل برائے نیوکلئیر ریسرچ سوئٹزرلینڈ، ڈاکٹر غلام جیلانی جنجوا، ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف آرٹیفیشل انٹیلیجنس، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپور اور ڈاکٹر صالح محمد، نیشنل سینٹر برائے فزکس ہیں۔

اِس تقریب کا بنیادی مقصد کائنات کی ابتداء اور اِس سے جُڑے رازوں کو سائنسی علم کی روشنی میں افشاں کرنے کے متلعق تھا۔ اِس کانفرنس کے اہم ترین موضوعات ڈارک میٹر، ڈارک انرجی، سُپر سمٹری، میٹر اور اینٹی میٹر تھے۔ اِن رازوں کو جاننے کے لیے سائنسدانوں نے سرن (CERN) کے مقام پر سائنسی عجوبہ بنایا۔ جسے ہم لارج ہیڈرون کولائیڈر (LHC) کہتے ہیں۔ ایل ایچ سی ایکسرلیٹر سے حاصل ہونے والے ڈیٹا کا آرٹیفیشل انٹیلیجنس کے ذریعے مطالعہ کیا جاتا ہے۔

اِس کانفرنس میں نا صرف انسٹیٹیوٹ آف فزکس کے فیکلٹی ممبران، طلبہ بلکہ پاکستان کے مختلف یونیورسٹیوں کے طلبہ اور اساتذہ نے شرکت کی۔ اِس کانفرنس کے اختتامی کلمات میں ڈاکٹر محمد شعیب بلوچ، ڈاکٹر فیصل اقبال اور ڈاکٹر الطاف حسین نے گیسٹ سپیکرز کا شکریہ ادا کرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ آرگنائزرز کے شاندار کارکردگی پر حوصلہ افزائی کی اور ساتھ ہی اِس سلسلے کو جاری رکھنے کا کہا۔ تقریب کے اختتام پر تما شرکا کے ساتھ تصاویر بنائی گئیں اور خاطر تواضع کی گئی۔

The High Energy Physics (HEP) at Institute of Physics at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is organising “2nd meeting on High Energy Physics and Artificial Intelligence” on June 2nd, 2022.

It's a series of meetings which will be held monthly/bi-monthly. In South Punjab Particle Physics/High energy Physics introduced for the first in history, basic idea of holding series of meeting is to provide a platform for the local as well as national participants to familiarise with particle physic, role of accelerators, detectors in HEP and specifically about Large Hadron Collider at CERN with installed detectors. LHC has produced billions of events during operation, to found interesting and new physics, scientist and research are extensively using Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence to deduce precise results. This meeting will cover particle physics, LHC accelerator, tracking detectors and role of artificial intelligence in data analysis.

On 24th of May, 1st international conference on emerging trends in Physics ended with a splendid ceremony. Prof. Dr. Zakaria Butt, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Aftab Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Noor ul Huda Khan and Dr. Khalid Mahmood were the guests on the occasion. In their concluding remarks all the worthy guests appreciated the efforts of the Institute of Physics to hold such a successful conference. Adding to their remarks they mentioned that they enjoyed their stay at Islamia University of Bahawalpur and looking forward to come again and enjoy such events. Speaking on the Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar, Director Institute of Physics and Dean Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences thanked all the guests, speakers, participants, sponsors and conference organizing team for their effort to make this conference a success. He further added that the Institute of Physics will hold this event every year in the first week of November and is looking forward to welcome such a large Physics community once again. In the end, souvenirs and certificates were distributed among the poster prize winners, all the speakers, sponsors and faculty of the Institute of Physics which made this conference a success.
In the two days of the conference, many international and nation speakers presented their valuable research work. Students got a great opportunity to interact with the renowned physicist from all over Pakistan and learn from their experiences. The talks presented during the conference covered many different fields Physics and for that purpose parallel sessions were dedicated to different emerging field of Physics including medical physics, nanomaterials, energy storage devices and condensed matter physics. The poster session held at the second day of the conference, where students got a chance to share their research work with other students and experts. Different scientific companies and conference sponsors displayed their stalls. A grand conference dinner, for the worthy guests of the conference, was hosted by the Institute of Physics at Noor Mahal. Guest enjoyed the light and sound show along with the visit of Noor Mahal. Institute of Physics is grateful to worthy vice chancellor, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob for his support for the conference. Furthermore, Institute of Physics is thankful to the other departments of the university including the management of guest house, transportation, IT, electrical division, security and estate care for their support.

Institute of Physics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, is holding its 1st international conference on Emerging trends in Physics. On 23rd of May, first day of the conference, an inaugural session of the conference was held at the Main Auditorium Baghdad ul Jadeed, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. On the occasion Vice Chancellor from the Gomal University D I Khan, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad was the chief guest. He along with the vice chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob graced the event. Prof. Dr. Zakaria Butt, Government College University Lahore, Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmad, Bahauddin Zakria University Multan and Prof. Dr. Khawaja Rafiq, University of Azad and Jammu Kashmir, Muzaffarabad were also present on the occasion as guests. Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar, Director Institute of Physics and Dean Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences warmly welcomed all the honorable guests. Conference Secretary, Dr. Saba Saeed, Assistant Professor Institute of Physics highlighting the importance of the conference. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar highlighted the importance of the conference and said that such forums are the right platform to gather scientists and researchers, where they can exchange their research experiences and guide the students. Prof. Iftikhar Ahmad, VC, Gomal University and also the keynote speaker of the inaugural session talked about the challenges faced by students, teachers and researchers while working in Pakistan. He emphasized that proper attitude and hard work can lead to success. Addressing the occasion Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob appreciated the efforts of the Institute of Physics. He said that it is great that the institute managed to gather such renowned researchers from all over Pakistan physically and International online. He also highlighted the rapid progress of the Institute of Physics. In the end souvenirs and shields were distributed to the worthy guest.
