Animal Husbandry Commissioner/Chief Veterinary Officer, Pakistan

One Day Training Workshop for Dairy and Meat Associations for export of Animal Products to P.R China was organized by Animal Husbandry Commissioner/Chief Veterinary Officer, Pakistan MNFS&R in collaboration with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Animal Quarantine Department on 8th January 2024 in Lahore.

The representatives from John Snow Research and Training Institute (JSI), Islamabad funded by USAID namely Dr. Munir Afridi and Dr. Arshad Mahmood met Animal Husbandry Commissioner of Pakistan on 03rd January, 2024 in the Livestock Wing. Productive deliberations were made to initiate the development of an integrated robust digitized disease surveillance dashboard through integration of AHC office by adopting One Health approach.

Workshop Organized by the Animal Husbandry Commissioner/Chief Veterinary Officer, Pakistan in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to conclude the draft Animal Health Welfare and Veterinary Public Health Bill 2023 on 31st October 2023.

Dr. Khalid Ashfaque, Animal Husbandry Commissioner/Chief Veterinary Officer, Pakistan participating in the Eighth SAARC, CVOs Forum being held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 10-11 October, 2023. The two years tenure of the Chairmanship of AHC/ CVO of Pakistan has been completed. Pakistan handed over the Chairmanship to Bangladesh for next two years.

A Round Table Dialogue on "Livestock Sector Development" was held in University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research alongwith Animal Husbandry Commissioner attended the event.

NIH and WHO-Pakistan jointly conducted training on Public Health Intelligence for International Health Regulations (IHR) reporting at Islamabad.

The WOAH PPR Reference Laboratory Network, officially launched by the WOAH in December 2020, aims at building strong partnerships between the WOAH Reference Laboratories and national reference laboratories throughout the world, improving links between recognised experts from national reference laboratories and from PPR diagnostic laboratories in low- and middle-income countries, in addition to the current three WOAH Reference Laboratories for PPR. The network of WOAH PPR Reference Laboratories, by making available accurate and timely data, will support the PPR Global Control and Eradication Strategy in preventing, detecting and controlling the disease.
